WEEK 7 - Trial
| the pygmalion. . . ONLINE ![]() CAPTAIN'S LOG: WEEK (7) |
saturday TRIAL DAY ONE (24) survivors ![]() At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort. The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up. The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body. To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it. Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote. |

Re: Alibis
8:00 PM - 2:00 AM?: In the Garbage Room. Adrien and Marinette passed by and talked with me for a while. Jessie also came, we sat around and left the garbage room together, not sure the exact time.
2:00 AM - 7:00 AM: In my room. Sleeping.

11:30PM: Couldn't fall asleep so I decided to risk a quick run to the cafeteria to grab a snack.
12:00AM : Didn't see anyone around and I was going stir crazy in my room so I decided to kill time in the garden. Yeah, it was a stupid idea but nothing horrible happened.
2:00AM: Went back to bed. Finally got to sleep only to get woken up by the announcement at 7 something and honestly fuck that. I turned over and went right back to sleep.

Late As Shit - Who The Fuck Even Knows: Decided it was so late on Murder Night, we might as well stay in her room. Clover went to bed, me and Jack stayed up longer arguing about magic and science.
Who The Fuck Even Knows - Seven, I guess?: Accidentally fell asleep. Probably stupid, but whatever, we put enough make-up on Jack that it would have been the easiest to solve murder ever if he tried anything. Woke up thanks to the alarm going off.
Seven, I guess - 8AM: Decided we should stay put for another hour just in case there were any more traps out there again. Also, I needed time to do my hair.
8AM: Went out with Clover and Jack to investigate.

Elucidation on Crime scene/body + Observations + Wet Sink
At approximately 7AM, I headed down to the cafeteria due to already being awake, and noticed the door was forcibly blocked from entry. Luke joined shortly-- Luke and I observed Fumi Kanno propped up against the kitchen counter while she lay on the floor. Due to the fact we could only see through the small, grease-stained kitchen window only her top half was visible.
Then, there was a commotion in the vents that took our attention away from the state of her body. The first chance we were able to look back we noticed that Fumi's body had moved to the point it was out of sight. Adelina came to join us and assist in battering the kitchen door down, and it was discovered several chairs were used to keep the door shut.
I observed Fumi's body was now positioned beneath the cabinets, and that some string hung loosely around her person--and not a single part of her was wrapped in it. Her body was warm, indicating she had only recently died and there were no obvious wounds. A broken, bloodstained monitor lay close beside her, likely used to murder her by smashing the back of her head with it somehow given the wound she sustained to the back of her head.
The sink was wet, indicating someone recently used it. Subsequent reports incoming from Adelina and Luke of their own findings as well as additional information. That is all.

Body
A holographic screen above the body displays two color photos of the scene when the body discovery alarms rang at 7:05 AM. The photographs are close ups - they portray Fumi's body, but no more of the scene than is necessary to do so. Still, if you want to check their position, it makes it easy to do so.

... I'm sorry.
[ First, Machias is going to check her carefully for surface bruises, starting with her head and moving down to any exposed skin. While he's at it, he'll carefully open her mouth and glance inside. Then he'll open her eyes to check the pupils for constriction or dilation, though he's not sure how helpful that'll be with how much time has passed. Anything he'd notice? ]

Greetings, participants. As always, I am at your disposal should you need to ask anything. Good luck.
[The holographic image will remain throughout the trial. You're free to ask her whatever you want, though whether she'll answer is a different question entirely.]

Adrien and Roxy are suspects too? Okay, that's ludicrous.
[She muttered that to herself but it was loud enough to be heard. Look, she likes those two kids, okay? Then, to everyone else]
Just like I said when Allen died: I didn't do it. This time I don't have evidence to give...well, I kinda do, but I think Jessie should tell it all since she isn't a suspect and she arrived before me to where we investigated.
[Sorry Jessie!]

[Unlike last time where she was personally insulted Emily just seems tired and annoyed. Whether that's an improvement or not is up in the air. Either way she's leaning on the conference table looking surly and that's about as inviting as she'll be all trial.

{ Like. Seriously. REALLY. How can this even be used unless it had like sticky gooey stuff you could...squeeze out of it, or something. Which hopefully someone else might suggest being a thing because. Yeah. }
Then, there is figuring out how the killer had everything set up in the cafeteria, since it appears whatever trap they made with the string was crucial in killing Fumi. Yet, getting her to walk into the trap couldn't have been that easy.
no subject
Considering it seems the vents played a role in this on top of Jessie and Shelley finding a scrap of paper in the incinerator, we’re led to believe it may be the ventilation map. However, that does not discount the possibility other tools came into play instead.
[ Don't mind him rambling on - he's thinking here. Let him think!! ]
One thing I'd been wondering about, Arumat: before the trap with the monitor was set off, you mentioned you saw her propped up against the counter? And she had no visible injuries then?

fumi kanno: dead or alive
Somewhere along the way, she ended up in the kitchen propped up against the counter. Whether she was dead or unconscious then is still unknown, but from the way the twine was taped to the door implies it was deliberately set up to kill her - that, or hide something the killer didn't want us to see.
We know Ms. Kanno was often seen in the medical wing and given a monitor seems to be missing from there, that’s probably not a coincidence. But what I want to discuss is whether or not she could have still been alive before the monitor fell on her. Or approaching this from a different perspective, is it possible she was already dead by then?

string theory
What I'm getting is this: The discovery group had a view of Fumi's top half leaned against the counter. There was some string on the door that they could also see? They looked away due to noise from the vents, and when they looked back, they could no longer see her.
When they broke their way in, they found her dead with the twine strewn around on top of her. It was also tied onto the monitor. Tape was found on the door and the window of the door was sticky. So, how did this trap work?

vulnerable player weapons
Here's my question for you. We know that Fumi was somehow hit with the monitor, but how do we know one of the other items wasn't also used? [He's straight-up piggybacking off of Machias and Adam. Please don't let him ask how the stungun works, guys.]

what the heckie was in the incinerator
While we're discussing what happened in the kitchen, does anybody have any ideas for what was burned in the incinerator? Both Jessie and Shelley claim to have found a melted, chrome colored object, a small piece of paper and ashes. The most obvious assumption would be that the paper was part of the vent map, but unless we're able to compare with a full map? We have no way of knowing. [Also...] And we need to confirm what the chrome colored item was, and if the amount of ashes correspond to the part of the paper that was burned off.
[While he's on that train of thought:]
They said the incinerator was on when they got there, which was around 7:15 AM. That's ten minutes after the time frame given for Fumi Kanno's death, so we have to consider at what point the killer would have been in the garbage disposal room to turn the incinerator on.
[SO. YEAH. THEORIES??? Let him chug away at a glass of water after this because he hates everything ever.]

Is it chrome painted or metal itself? Whatever this item is, I mean.

Timeline Issues
So it occurs to me there's some room for concern here. Most of our suspect list has been taking the buddy system to heart, haven't they?
Only Shelley and Emily slept alone. I wonder if Marinette, Dave, Jesse, Clover and Jack can't try to be more specific with the timing?

DAY ONE TRIAL END
It is 7PM, participants. As usual, the trial shall be placed on hold until the morning. Dinner will be held in this room, like last trial. Please do not stab the robots. They will take your order and bring it out to you. They cannot do this if they are damaged. To ensure that there will be no tampering with the evidence, all participants are to remain in this room. Blankets and entertainment shall be provided shortly, and should you find a change of clothes necessary, that can also be arranged.
[ A few moments later, the screens and tablets are on again, this time providing a selection of all the Star Wars films, and retro gaming. Anyone who leaves will be accompanied by a robot, and then ushered back into the conference room. You're stuck in a sleepover with the corpse near you again, it seems.
Feel free to thread out any of the evening's interactions here. ]
