WEEK 7 - Trial

the pygmalion. . .

ONLINE

CAPTAIN'S LOG:
WEEK (7)

saturday TRIAL DAY ONE

(24) survivors

At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort.

The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up.

The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body.

To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it.

Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

Isn't it obvious? We were going to make sure no one else could use the incinerator. Unfortunately, I had to go back to my room. I didn't have a choice in the matter. Shelley came with me that far.

While that's a smart idea, what do you mean you didn't have a choice in the matter?

My chest was hurting. I couldn't sit up anymore and I had to lie down.

[She tugs on the collar of her shirt to reveal she's still wearing bandages over her wound.]
chiseler: (and you're feeling so left behind)

[...and now he actually feels like a jackass. Whoops.]

Right, sorry. I almost forgot. [He rubs the back of his neck sheepishly.] Try to take it easy during the trial. [Please don't yell or throw our your motto or other weird things...]

Did you have suspicions that the incinerator was used when the alarm went off yesterday? Or was going back there just coincidence?

Team Rocket doesn't take it easy when there's work to be done. What kind of thief takes the easy road?

[Her. As often as possible. Being lazy has been their downfall many, many times.]

It's like this. If you were trying to keep something from being used and heard something bad had happened, wouldn't you rush there first? It was like the incinerator's flames were rubbing salt into my wound. I was too late.
chiseler: (ask a reason and no reply)

[He lifts an eyebrow. He's taken the easy road enough times in his day that he can't really discount that. But there's something more pressing here and he can ask more questions about Team Rocket later.]

It's actually pretty clever to think that way. But it also makes me wonder if somebody knew you and Shelley were essentially guarding the thing and that's why they planned the murder when they planned if. If they knew you guys weren't there at that time, it'd be way easier to burn whatever they wanted.

We weren't exactly being quiet. I was playing Furry Crossing, and we had snacks and chairs. Arbok was there, too, so anyone could've heard us if they passed by to check in. They'd have to open the door [things are soundproof right??? ignore if wrong], too, but we weren't all that subtle when we left. It could just as easily be me on that list, that's what I'm thinking.
chiseler: (I am sick of listening)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-23 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
But it wasn't you on the list. It was Shelley. [...and as much as he doesn't want to think on it, Jessie sort of drew the conclusion for the both of them.] You see why this might be bad?

Don't be a twerp. It doesn't mean anything that deep. Alice needs to fluff up our list with extra suspects, so it comes down to Shelley and I. Of course she'd pick the one who isn't wounded. She wouldn't pick both of us for a crime we didn't commit if we can back each other up.
chiseler: (it was really only you)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-23 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't that where we went wrong with Elizabeth last week? We automatically assumed it couldn't be her even though it sort of was? Let's not make the same mistake twice.
tacklefordwhimsy: I think that is no good. (Erin?)

[personal profile] tacklefordwhimsy 2016-07-23 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
...Adrien was with me for a while, too. Not as long as Jessie, and he was gone when she came, but he was there.

[Just saying. Shelley knows her alibi shows that, but since you're discussing how two people who were in the garbage room and only one being a suspect is sketchy, may as well throw that in]

I'm saying we can't put too much speculation into why she was chosen or why I wasn't. We need to back it up with facts!
chiseler: (gonna seize the day)

Then help me start asking around and find facts. [LOOK. He's still bad at this like weeks later!]
