WEEK 7 - Trial
| the pygmalion. . . ONLINE ![]() CAPTAIN'S LOG: WEEK (7) |
saturday TRIAL DAY ONE (24) survivors ![]() At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort. The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up. The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body. To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it. Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote. |

what the heckie was in the incinerator
While we're discussing what happened in the kitchen, does anybody have any ideas for what was burned in the incinerator? Both Jessie and Shelley claim to have found a melted, chrome colored object, a small piece of paper and ashes. The most obvious assumption would be that the paper was part of the vent map, but unless we're able to compare with a full map? We have no way of knowing. [Also...] And we need to confirm what the chrome colored item was, and if the amount of ashes correspond to the part of the paper that was burned off.
[While he's on that train of thought:]
They said the incinerator was on when they got there, which was around 7:15 AM. That's ten minutes after the time frame given for Fumi Kanno's death, so we have to consider at what point the killer would have been in the garbage disposal room to turn the incinerator on.
[SO. YEAH. THEORIES??? Let him chug away at a glass of water after this because he hates everything ever.]

Is it chrome painted or metal itself? Whatever this item is, I mean.
no subject
It seems to have been metal itself. Not that knowing that helps us narrow down what it could have been. A lot of things in this place are in a shitty chrome color.

[ Poor Jason, please see eye to eye with her. ]
I wonder if it was a unique item... or simply a common one?
no subject
[It's sad but it's true, his point of view is very limited.]
No idea. If it was something stolen from one of the areas, wouldn't have somebody noticed it missing?
no subject
[ She says coldly, looking at him with a bit of concern. If they do happen to have made a mistake, it would be a repeat of last week... she wants to make sure. ]
I'll go check.
no subject
[Let's... Let's not bring up last week.]
You go do that. Let me know what you find.

[Good to know he's coping by making fun of himself.
And here we go.]

I'd say you're on the right track with the map being burned. Shelley's description said it was blank on one side and had colors on the other. The map Adam got from Alice is also color-coded.
no subject
[Too bad there's no direct confirmation, but they'll have to take it.]
You and Arumat heard something in the vents while in the cafeteria, right? Do you think it could have been the culprit high-tailing it out of the area? Or do you have other ideas?
no subject
So...could've been somebody else. Or an alien. Or...I don't know. Something else?

[Assuming they were tall enough and could jump high enough or climb up via rope or...whatever.]
no subject
You said there was string attached to the door when you first looked into the kitchen, right? Did the two of you mess with the door in any way before hearing the noise from the vents?

[HE SHRUGS. He may or may not be serious about this theory. Maybe.]

You know I was printing a bunch of those things out on Thursday. [Like Jason witnessed that, that much is clear.] What if somebody else got the same idea after I was done? [A dick-shaped maraca isn't entirely out of the realm of possibility.] If there were a couple of them tied to a string someone could have been pulling them along to make it sound like something was crawling away just long enough to distract us.
no subject
It's not impossible, I'll give you that. Might even be worth testing it out so we know whether to rule it out or not.

Lead the way.
