WEEK 8 - Trial Day Two
| the pygmalion. . . ONLINE ![]() CAPTAIN'S LOG: WEEK (8) |
saturday TRIAL DAY TWO (22) survivors ![]() At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort. The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up. The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body. To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it. Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote. |

Autopsy Report
Cause of Death - Appears to be extreme head trauma.
Body Discovery - Body found lying facedown in personal bathroom. Body announced at 8:30 AM.
Time of Death - 6:00 PM Thursday - 8:00 AM Friday.
Condition of Body - Found facedown in bathroom Large open wound on head, most likely from blunt trauma.
Condition of Scene - Bathroom partially flooded from shower pipe being compromised. Pipe appears to have been slashedd off with a sharp, curved instrument. Scorch marks on wall across from mirror. Room itself is quite messy. Bed has similar slice marks.

fire test
Dorian's magic left scorch marks on the suit but didn't do shit to the card. The scorch marks were also different from the ones on the original suit.
Clover helped us test Arumat's scythe on suit suit to see if it's laserproof as well as fireproof.
Turns out taking a single hit from Arumat's weapon slices through the suit pretty easily. It didn't melt the card, either.
Putting the card on the stove DID melt it, however. It looked similar to the melted plastic in the original suit, so it's safe to say the card was used.

Unless you count a complete and total lack of regard for SAFE SEX suspicious.
Adrien and I didn't find even a single condom wrapper.
That's fucking alarming.
If both of them wind up innocent, I'd suggest looking into pre-natal care.
We've gotta think of the baby, right?
Luke's Room
There was a journal with notes in a strange language that I have no familiarity with. Perhaps someone can look over it and translate it for us? We also found a piece of paper with the words "A half-blood of the eldest gods shall reach sixteen against all odds. And see the world in endless sleep, the hero’s soul". It appears to have been cut off midsentence.
We found another sheet of paper that had a list of motives, suspects, murderers, and his thoughts. The entry for this week reads as follows:
(23) "If you produce a skeleton for me — that is, if you kill this week — then I will not reveal your most well-kept secret. If you do not, then come Monday, I will announce it to the world. To the ship, specifically, but also to your loved ones. Your families. Your enemies."
Funny, I think the world knows. But wonder what the ship would think of me if they knew just what I could do...but I made a promise.

Body
A holographic screen above the body displays two color photos of the scene when the body discovery alarms rang at 8:30 AM. The photographs are close ups - they portray Arumat's body, but no more of the scene than is necessary to do so. Still, if you want to check their position, it makes it easy to do so.

day one summary
Around 8 AM, water was leaking from the ceiling in the biolab. It was coming from Arumat's room; he was found in the shower with the water running. We were able to determine that this means his time of death was between 8 and 9 PM on Thursday night. There were signs of a struggle - burn marks in the bathroom that we are assuming came from his magic, and damage to his bed that seem to have been caused by his scythe. His head had been bashed open, and there were marks on his neck most likely caused by some wire taken from the art storage room. His wrist was broken as well. There was also a... strange book found in his room.
[and that's all she's saying about that. moving on.]
In the daycare, Clover discovered a fire resistant suit with some melted plastic in the pocket - it appears to have been part of a room access card. When Dorian performed a test on the suits by attacking one with fire, the room access card in the pocket did not melt, so it may have been subjected to some other kind of heat when it was not in the pocket. In addition to the suit, a syringe was found, though it was broken. As there were several potentially deadly plants missing from the garden, the syringe may have been intended to poison him, but there were no puncture wounds found on the body. Grell has said that she found nothing amiss in the medical bay when she visited the area at 8 PM, and did not notice a syringe missing. Since his time of death was 9 PM at the latest, it must have been taken by someone shortly afterwards.
Lastly, I would like to mention the state of his room again. As I mentioned, the bed was damaged as well as the shower, both with the scythe. I find it hard to imagine that Arumat's attacker would have emerged unscathed if he was wielding his scythe, and we would certainly be able to notice wounds such as that if they even survived them. As such, I believe that the killer took his weapon somehow and tried to use it against him.

Would it be too outrageous to suggest we should begin looking at suspects?
If someone trusted another and was injected, their mental stability would fracture. This could lead to them being unhinged a bit, right?
If there's no marks on Arumat, perhaps... perhaps the buddy system backfired...

STRIP SEARCHES
[ WHY, WHY IS MARVIN GAYE BLASTING THROUGH THE SPEAKERS? This better not become a tradition. ]
Alright. I'd like for every suspect to strip to their underwear, please!
[ cradle has ruined this girl's innocence. Even with the shitty stripping music and talking of "getting it on", Elizabeth's voice carries high. She slams her fist on the table to gain attention because no doubt there are people who are giggling like two-year olds. Looks at Jason. ]
I'd like to look for syringe marks - bruising around the flesh. If we can have some volunteers... I would appreciate it. Does anyone oppose?

Whoa, Arumat was into some seriously kinky shit. You said you found this in his bathroom? What, was he jerking off into it or something?
no subject
[You know. In the toilet. When he was taking a shit. WHATEVER.]
... But unless Arumat had some peculiar interests we didn't know jack about, we might as well figure out what the hell a book about male pregnancy was doing in his room. It doesn't look like it's responsible for the injury on his forehead, does it?

arumat's whereabouts
Given our record of not walking in on shady activity, I don't expect much of an answer. But does anyone recall seeing Arumat late on Thursday? Say... around the time we think the shower might have gotten damaged. Anywhere from 8PM to 9PM.
[He doesn't recall seeing anything personally, so.]
Any time before that works, too. Maybe 6PM or 7PM on Thursday. Someone must have seen him before he headed to his room, assuming he was murdered there.

summary and theories
The room access card would have had to have been burned while outside of the fire resistant pocket. When burned, it does look like the piece of plastic we found. It's possible it wasn't, I guess? When the fire resistant suit was tested with Dorian's magic, scorch marks were left but they didn't look like the original ones. The suit also would have been sliced with the scythe if it was used.
Anyway, Arumat was seen walking back to his room at 8PM, an hour after finishing talking to Machias at 7PM. He was coming from the elevator and had a book with him, though he was walking fast so further details can't be confirmed. In his room, let's remember the water had to be going between 8-9PM. The scorch marks in his room were along the walls and furniture, as well as on papers scattered around the room. The desk was pushed over and the bottom bed was cut with his scythe. We also haven't talked much about the mirror in his bathroom being smashed or the blood on the opposite side of the wall from the mirror.
We considered the possibility of him being poisoned although there were no marks on him to suggest that. To confirm, all the suspects were checked and no suspicious marks were found. The two flowers that were picked can be deadly, but we don't know what the kale was for. We suspect hiding the poison in some way? Arumat's teeth and stomach were checked for evidence of consumption, but we found nothing.
Most importantly: The place where the, uh, medical mystery book would have been was replaced by a fiction novel. Under the book, the shelf was scorched like the markings in Arumat's room. It was on the end of the shelf so the back cover of the book next to it was singed too. The replacement book itself was fine—although Yuno noted that she had been reading it and left it on the table at about five. It was clearly meant to look like nothing was off about the archives, so I think we can assume that something definitely happened there. But we're having trouble piecing all of this together.
Luke and Grell also fought for some reason. Luke lost.

Timing
According to their alibis, Adam, Dorian, and Bull met up and spoke at 8:30 PM. From then on, Dorian and Bull went to his room, where Bull left him alone briefly, and then spent the night together. If they're both telling the truth, neither of them would have a big window to commit the murder.
Adam is unaccounted for after their conversation, and had until 12:00 AM on his own.
Luke was unaccounted for from 7 PM and on.
And Grell was unaccounted for for most of the evening... unless someone witnessed her in the any of the areas.
Did anyone else cross paths with the suspects at any time?
