saturday TRIAL DAY TWO (22) survivors At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort. The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up. The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body. To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it. Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

If it's a language from Earth then I might be able to take a stab at it. Could even cobble up a rough translation depending on what it is.

[Jason do you even know Greek. I mean probably because batkids are weird that way but.]

What's the matter? Did Adelina and Marinette dig up your diary? How embarrassing. But, y'know, it's pretty damn shady if you don't let someone else handle the translation.

[He knows Greek, but does anybody else? Sorry but not sorry, Luke. This isn't the time to be shady.]

What kind of guy do you think I am? I haven't kept a diary since I was fourteen. [He's already getting to his feet.] Fine, I'll go get the thing. Any other requests?

Didn't I tell you last night? We're all just a bunch of strangers. I don't know shit.

[He shrugs. What can you do, right?]

Go fetch me a soda while you're at it. Airing out people's dirty laundry always works up quite a thirst.

I can't promise I won't spit in it. [He sounds way too cheerful about that and off he goes. To go get his diary.

Ah well, he'll be back shortly and there's definitely a open bottle of soda he's shoving at Jason along with his book. He's even been nice and brought along a sheet of paper and a pen for him to translate.] How many ancient languages do you know?

[Look, it's a nice filler tag while I write up wtf is in the journal.]

[Insert typical batkid vague vagueness. Jason will set the soda aside for the moment, not sure if the risk of spit is worth it or not. Once the book is in his hands, however, he'll open it. Stare at it. Squint. Huff out a laugh, almost in disbelief.]

... And more than enough to recognize Greek when I see it. Really. You wrote a whole journal in Greek. Couldn't have picked another language, could you?

[Is Luke a huge nerd?? Survey says yes.

Either way, Jason will start a rough translation. Godspeed, brave filler comment.]

Could’ve, but Greek’s kinda what’s hardwired for us. [It’s a pretty simple response and he sits back to watch Jason get to work.

With a little time and effort, Jason Todd will be able to translate...a bunch of bullshit. These things are written but there are no dates so have fun with that.

…Jason if you really thought you were getting anything useful you are sorely mistaken. Luke, unfortunately, is a little smarter than that.]

For "us", who? For you Greeks? Don't tell me we have another fossil on the ship and I failed to notice.

[Of course, he wasn't expecting anything useful. Maybe something to make fun of him over, but. This is just kind of. Weird. And sad. And a lot of bullshit.

He's closing the book as soon as he's finished.]

Whoop, not relevant. You can have it back. [Tossing it at him. Literally.] Go ahead and write another entry over ice cream or something. Gossip about all the hot boys and girls.

[chiseler]

[And he catches it, seemingly pleased with himself. Judge away, Jason Todd. He knows exactly how this came across.]

I might give up writing after this. Getting to be a pain in the ass but it's something to do. [But he pauses, giving Jason a curious look.] You don't really think I'm a fossil, do you?

[antagonize]

Maybe I do. Maybe I don't. We already have a surplus of fossils walking among us. Wouldn't be shocking to add more of the collection.

[He shrugs. Stop insulting the old timers, Jason.]

[chiseler]

[A snort. At this rate though Adelina's already thrown out everything and Luke's apparently decided he doesn't care. This isn't relevant to the trial anymore.]

Demigods are hardwired with two things. Ancient Greek and battle-ready skills. Ends up manifesting as dyslexia and ADHD. [A shrug.] Sorry to disappoint you but the card's right. [Some...how.]

[She's going to lower her voice a little in case this is weird and personal]

Why was your mirror covered up?

[Judging by the fact his smirk disappears immediately, that's a very personal question. He blinks at her almost awkwardly for a moment before he shakes his head, responding in an equally low tone.]

...covered it up during the nightmare motive if you really wanna know. Never got around to uncovering it.
