saturday TRIAL DAY TWO (22) survivors At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort. The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up. The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body. To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it. Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

It is. I'm really... I don't know what we're going to do if we can't figure this out. I didn't think it would happen.

It's always like this around this time. It doesn't make sense until you figure out the one thing that makes it click into place. Don't think it's kale, but you never know.

You're right though. It's hard. It's only going to get harder from here.

Are you nervous?

Sure. Be pretty stupid to not be nervous. Trust pretty much everyone on the list. [some more than others] A decision isn't going to be easy, especially when it feels uncertain.

[antietam]

[ That makes him feel better then. ] You're right. We're probably going to have to do something we don't like.

[qundercover]

I'm not calling it "doing the right thing," because that's shit. It's not doing the right thing to vote for someone based on wild kale accusations, but seeing through deception, illusion, turns up shit we don't like all the time. It's part of the deal. A raw deal.

[antietam]

And if we don't do it, we get put in the pods to be killed by those aliens.

Can we keep following these rules?

[He pauses for a minute, mulling over what to say.]

I'm not about to go all Chantry sister proselytizing to you or anything, and I'm not a priest so don't take this as anything other than just something to think about: [He makes a face because, very technically, he is a priest under the Qun. Like all Ben-Hassrath are.] Shok ebasit hissra. Struggle is an illusion. There's shit you have to do sometimes and it's not fucking easy, but you can make it harder for yourself.

Guess I'd rather go down eye open [just the one] and get to see them coming, instead of knocked out in some pod. The sword in front of you rather than the knife at your back, you know?

... Yeah. Yeah I get it. [ And it does help. He'll keep that in mind. ]

You're real smart, Bull. If we both get out, I'd like to learn more from you.

[qundercover]

[ He looks a little relieved it seems to have helped. He doesn't talk about the Qun much, and most of the time it's met with distrust and hostility, but it's helped in some hard times. Even if he's not the best at following it himself.]

Sure, yeah. I'd like that.

Shit, if we make it all the way home you've got a spot in the Chargers if you want it. [IS HE JOKING. WHO EVEN KNOWS. Horns up, Adam.]

[antietam]

Really? What's that? [ He sounds honored despite having no clue. ]

[qundercover]

My mercenary band! We've got a song and everything. [But apparently he's not gonna sing because . . . this doesn't seem like the appropriate setting.] But they're the Bull's Chargers! Like my horns. [Making the "rock horns" hand gesture, which is totally cool and original in his world okay.] Get it?

[antietam]

[ Adam actually looks impressed and a little delighted. He even laughs at the gesture. ] That's an awful kind offer. [ is it. ]

But I can't say I really like to fight. I don't think I'd be a great addition.

[qundercover]

Can you cook? We seriously need a cook.

[But he gets it. You do have to kind of like fighting.]

Um. I don't suppose y'all have pre-prepared meals that you could heat up? [ Because all he can do is microwave meals. Why is he considering this anyway?? ]
