WEEK 1 - Trial
| the pygmalion. . . ONLINE ![]() CAPTAIN'S LOG: WEEK (1) |
saturday TRIAL DAY ONE (40) survivors ![]() At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort. The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up. The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body. To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it. Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. At 7PM, the trial will adjourn for the day. All players will be escorted by the robots into the cafeteria. From there, they're free to head into the lounge, the viewing deck, the chapel, or back to their rooms. All other areas of the ship have been locked off, and every player will be accompanied by a robot until they return to their room for the night. Any attempts to enter a locked off room or physically interfere with the trial or evidence outside of their room will cause the robot to raise a ship-wide alarm. |

Room Searching
Each suspect should make a comment to this post with their name in the subject, and include a quick description of their room.]
JESSIE
At first glance, the first thing to notice might be that the room is clean. There are some colorful clothes hanging against the wall that seem fit for someone who
claims to beis a dancer like Jessie. Her profile mentions acting, so it's no surprise there's a princely outfit, a formal evening gown, and some other generic clothes. What will they do?]
no subject
Ok, so time to see if there's anything suspicious. Like, if you see a dead body, that might be suspicious.
[ no but first things first, going through those clothes. any bloodied or ripped? any pokeballs in the pockets? ]
no subject
I don't think we would find a second body... I hope, anyway.

However, it won't take long for Elizabeth and Roxy to notice something red in the darkness underneath her desk.]

JASON
The first thing they might notice is the lower bed, which is currently unmade with the sheets bunched up into a weird ball. It also has two pillows, one of which was pilfered from the topmost bunk. The outfit everyone woke up in is shoved into one corner of the room, and a couple of "different" jackets are hanging against the wall. Emphasis on "different", since they're all exactly the same.
There's nothing else immediately apparent. What now?]

Three pair of pants are laying on the writing desk, but just like the jackets they're relatively clean. Same for any underwear and shirts that can be found in the room. The arrival outfit seems to have a coffee stain on the lap, but other than that... nothing.
That said, there are no tears or bloodstains on any of the clothes here. If Jason got injured by a knife recently, it wasn't while wearing any of these.
As for the bed, there's nothing incriminating inside the sheets. There is, however, a pen and notepad next to the pillows. The notepad has something written on its pages.]

His first reaction, coming in, is to head over to the arrival outfit to give it a look over.]

Bull's first instinct is the clothes as well - probably somewhat annoyingly checking after dorian, looking in the seams for blood and carefully inspecting for tears.]
This the kind of work Leliana's people do? Digging through clothes for knife wounds and reading diaries.

LUKE
The room's fairly clean at least from first glance. The bed's unmade and slightly rumpled, more like he slept on top of it instead of in it. Backbiter, a four-foot sword made of what looks like bronze and steel is up on the second bed with its handle pointed toward the edge like he's staged it to quickly grab if necessary. The clothing he's been given on the ship seems pretty standard, like what a college student would wear and progressively getting nicer. A few button-down shirts and khaki pants, a second Camp Half-Blood t-shirt, and a white chiton and himation. Well that's sure weird.
The desk is scattered with papers and a few pens he stole from the office and it looks like there are some things drawn out of boredom. A scythe. A giant ocean cruise liner. The empire state building. Things that filtered through his memory along with what looks like might be the start of a letter to someone.
There's also a small stack of the food cubes on his desk that have started to take shape into a little U-shape, some of the cubes cut in half like he's trying to find where to fit them. What a wasteful shit. What will you do?]
no subject
How can anyone live in this mess?
[Maybe he shouldn't have volunteered to go in. Now he wants to clean all of this shit up and then confiscate the cubes because someone could've been eating those, Luke.]
23 is too old for college so why do I feel like I walked into a wild youth's dorm room?
no subject
[ and he has fucking echolocation. why couldn't the blind guy have been given the nice, neat room??
regardless, he'll. you know, make his way carefully over to luke's clothes, and go through them for any signs of tear or blood, running his hands over them. might as well get the obvious out of the way first.
sorry, luke. ]
Careful not to organize everything during our search, Frankenstein.
[ ho ho ho ho! he's just kidding. ]
no subject
Light won't find anything too interesting when he examines Luke's clothing, no tears or blood but only a sense that the t-shirt is well worn as if he's owned it for several years, the chiton and himation are soft and maybe not entirely hand-made, and the other clothes are just clothes.
One of the drawers of the desk is also slightly ajar.]

Looks like this is it. Let's go.

[ she says it idly as she looks around. something about that seems pretty sad - she didn't have a chance to make this room her own.
after a preliminary look, she gets on her knees to look under the bottom bunk. ]

ALITA
Nearby, there is a slip of paper sitting on the desk provided. ]
Re: ALITA
Yeah, she coined that saying]
Here we go! If the killer got slashed with that knife Caligula had, then it is possible one of the outfits will have a gash or something like that.
[In other words, yeah, Shelley is going to focus on that. Good luck with anything else you find at first, Fumi.
Shelley starts the jumpsuit first. After all, if she were to kill someone she wouldn't use clothes she'd miss. The jumpsuits sucks, so...]

These things never really turn up anything interesting, but this ought to pass the time. Really, though, I would have found a way to induce a chemical reaction and just dissolve any incriminating clothing anyway.
Maybe we're dealing with an idiot.
[ For once, she'd like that. ]

[hey lets exchange notes about covering-up murders, why not]
It isn't subtle, but any subtlety usually goes out the window when it's about murdering someone else.
