WEEK 1 - Trial

the pygmalion. . .

ONLINE

CAPTAIN'S LOG:
WEEK (1)

saturday TRIAL DAY ONE

(40) survivors

At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort.

The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up.

The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body.

To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it.

Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. At 7PM, the trial will adjourn for the day. All players will be escorted by the robots into the cafeteria. From there, they're free to head into the lounge, the viewing deck, the chapel, or back to their rooms. All other areas of the ship have been locked off, and every player will be accompanied by a robot until they return to their room for the night. Any attempts to enter a locked off room or physically interfere with the trial or evidence outside of their room will cause the robot to raise a ship-wide alarm.

LUKE

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-06-11 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[Look it really doesn't matter what the hell Light has to say about it. Luke's pretty stingy about privacy but he's also pretty stingy about...you know...proving he's not guilty? So he'll be waiting outside of the door...but he also knows he would look even more suspicious if he was in there with them trying to manipulate the scene so once Light and Frankenstein enter the room, he seals the door shut.

The room's fairly clean at least from first glance. The bed's unmade and slightly rumpled, more like he slept on top of it instead of in it. Backbiter, a four-foot sword made of what looks like bronze and steel is up on the second bed with its handle pointed toward the edge like he's staged it to quickly grab if necessary. The clothing he's been given on the ship seems pretty standard, like what a college student would wear and progressively getting nicer. A few button-down shirts and khaki pants, a second Camp Half-Blood t-shirt, and a white chiton and himation. Well that's sure weird.

The desk is scattered with papers and a few pens he stole from the office and it looks like there are some things drawn out of boredom. A scythe. A giant ocean cruise liner. The empire state building. Things that filtered through his memory along with what looks like might be the start of a letter to someone.

There's also a small stack of the food cubes on his desk that have started to take shape into a little U-shape, some of the cubes cut in half like he's trying to find where to fit them. What a wasteful shit. What will you do?]
unasking: (➛ who are you calling a peacock)

[personal profile] unasking 2016-06-11 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[First, he's going to be a little revolted because:]

How can anyone live in this mess?

[Maybe he shouldn't have volunteered to go in. Now he wants to clean all of this shit up and then confiscate the cubes because someone could've been eating those, Luke.]

23 is too old for college so why do I feel like I walked into a wild youth's dorm room?

[personal profile] puzzlesss 2016-06-11 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
... I feel as if even I am going to have trouble navigating here.

[ and he has fucking echolocation. why couldn't the blind guy have been given the nice, neat room??

regardless, he'll. you know, make his way carefully over to luke's clothes, and go through them for any signs of tear or blood, running his hands over them. might as well get the obvious out of the way first.

sorry, luke. ]

Careful not to organize everything during our search, Frankenstein.

[ ho ho ho ho! he's just kidding. ]
chiseler: (see them running for their lives)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-06-11 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[Wow both of you are so rude??? This is what happens when you give a guy a room after spending years crammed in a cabin with several people and lots of other years traveling across the country.

Light won't find anything too interesting when he examines Luke's clothing, no tears or blood but only a sense that the t-shirt is well worn as if he's owned it for several years, the chiton and himation are soft and maybe not entirely hand-made, and the other clothes are just clothes.

One of the drawers of the desk is also slightly ajar.]
unasking: (➛ i'm tired)

[personal profile] unasking 2016-06-12 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
[Light might be kidding but:]

Idle hands are the devil's plaything - so we'd best be leaving as soon as possible, no?

[Or else he will absolutely clean this place up and take those cubes. That said while Light is examining the clothes, Frankenstein will absolutely be going through the desk. The doodles interest him if only as insight into Luke's mind, but now upon the desk drawer being ajar, he'll quirk a brow and open that one first.]

[personal profile] puzzlesss 2016-06-12 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Well. He may have the room of a youth, but there are certainly some... less youthful articles here. Nothing of note, however, beyond one t-shirt getting more love than the rest.

[ but he'll make sure that he's checked everything throughly before moving on! ]

Though I doubt anyone with incriminating clothing would leave it with the rest of their wardrobe...
chiseler: (what's worth forgiving?)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-06-12 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
[At least his armor didn't show up. That'd just be annoying (and bloody, let's not have bloody items in his room right now.)

Opening the drawer will reveal a couple of things! Namely, a jar of peanut butter, a spoon, and oh yeah a couple of small jars of salve he took from the medical bay. All of the jars remain completely sealed and there's a piece of paper in there as well. It's only a note that says: "Check back with Clover."

There's also a few more cubes. Oh well.]
unasking: (➛ just as keiaku)

[personal profile] unasking 2016-06-12 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
This little....

[There's irritation in his voice for sure - because even more missing jars of salve are certainly annoying. Honestly, he's considering keeping a running inventory on the items in the medical bay now. So he's going to pull out a medical glove that he keeps in his pockets and pull them on so he can pick up the jars of salve.

Then, pulling out the matching glove and offering it to Light.]

The note might be of some interest to you.
puzzlesss: (pic#5338954)

[personal profile] puzzlesss 2016-06-12 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
[ (yes let's have bloody items in his room.)

but... hm? light's moved away from the clothing now that that's been confirmed as nice and not torn and not blood (aw, man). needless to say, frankenstein certainly gets his attention with that statement, and he moves over to both take that glove and look over whatever could be "of interest".

... not literally, of course. ]

Thank you. [ with that glove taken: ] Unless it's a memo to kill our victim, I can't see why a note in Luke's room would concern me. What's on it?

[ he's never talked to luke, is it is a note shittalking him?? that's his job to do with clover! ]

... And what's gotten you so frustrated?
unasking: (➛ regina george)

[personal profile] unasking 2016-06-12 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
I hate hoarders who don't even utilize items for their specific purpose.

[HONESTY.

Seriously, all these cubes?? What the shit? More than that, he'll explain since he understands that Light possesses enhanced senses but it may still be difficult to discern what's in the drawer.]

The jars here are more medical salves taken from the medical bay, which grows increasingly annoying. If there was a way to lock that room up, I would. In addition, a note stating "Check back with Clover".

Whether as a concerned older brother or otherwise, am I wrong to presume that this note is - well, of note?
puzzlesss: (pic#5338953)

[personal profile] puzzlesss 2016-06-12 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
[ ............. SIGHS DEEPLY. ]

Of all rooms, of course... That's something to ask Luke or Clover about, but I doubt it's relevancy in the case. Do you truly need a note to remind you to check on someone...

[ his little sister is not involved... but he isn't exactly sure what is so important that you'd need to make a note of it?! especially when you are suspected of murder??? (like luke could plan this.) moving on.

he'll check the beds, patting them down and looking for anything of interest! and also disturbing backbiter in the process, sorry backbiter. ]

The salves are... interesting, however. We can at least confirm Luke's spent quite a bit of time in the medical bay, and is informed enough about it's contents.

[ though if he's made a mini medical bay in his drawer, why go allll the way there?? ]
chiseler: (and you're feeling so left behind)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-06-12 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
[It's really not relevant, but this is what you get for going through his personal memos man.

There's nothing of interest in either bed. The only things left in the room are the assorted papers that aren't relevant to this case, save for one that has the motive written on it and the words "not worth it, already have it" scrawled next to it.

As you were.]
unasking: (➛ dramatic camera pan)

[personal profile] unasking 2016-06-12 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, Frankenstein is admittedly going through the rest of the notes because it's one of the things that he can do that Light can't. When he finds the one with the motive written on it, he reads it aloud:]

"Not worth it, already have it."

He apparently also has the nerve to be a killer, but lacks the particular incentive this time around if this is to be taken at face value. [A hum.] Another overconfident one, is it?
puzzlesss: (pic#5338951)

[personal profile] puzzlesss 2016-06-12 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
[ if only luke wrote his stuff in braille. alas. ]

It seems we have quite a collection of those on the ship. [ frankenstein :)))

but he's also not excluding himself from that. ]

But as you said—if we take it at face value. It's entirely possible he wrote such a thing after the fact, it's entirely possible he didn't mean it at all. He has at least thought of it, either way.

[ CLOVER WHAT COMPANY ARE YOU KEEPING. ... is what he would say if he weren't also Weird.

excuse him as he moves on to the bathroom, then? ]
chiseler: (ain't it beautiful? so unusual)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-06-12 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Writing in English is hard enough, Light. Too many letters to flip around. Anyway, the rest of the notes on the desk that Frankenstein's looking over also include such wonderful things such as a list of questions to ask their beloved AI overlord including "What did you do to me?"

Luke Castellan has a lot of questions but they're mostly for selfish motivations. Sorry about him.

When Light enters the bathroom he'll find a sink full of dried bloodstains. I'm totally kidding, he won't find anything too unusual. The hideous jumpsuit's in a ball on the floor and all of the cabinets and drawers are open as if Luke were looking for something himself, but nope. Nada. Everything's just as empty.]
unasking: (➛ goldilocks here)

[personal profile] unasking 2016-06-12 09:07 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I suppose you could question him further on the matter when you inquire about his relationship with your sister.

[everyone loves passing the buck to Light!!

no just kidding, Frankenstein will ask too but. later.]

He has a few other notes but nothing especially incriminating. [But all things that Frankenstein is committing to memory regardless.]

Have you found anything in the bathroom or have you slipped and bashed your head against the sink?

[just kidding again.]
puzzlesss: (pic#5338951)

[personal profile] puzzlesss 2016-06-12 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[ do they even like each other

an amused: ]

Would you like that?

[ before he continues. ]

Nothing of note, besides the results of a rather thorough search. Open cabinets, and the like. [ ... ] We certainly are giving Luke plenty of reasons to dislike me.

[ have to ask him questions.....

after he told him "no you stay outside bad boy" while they ransack his room. he's just kidding, as he moves back from the bathroom into the main room. ]
