saturday TRIAL DAY TWO (29) survivors At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort. The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up. The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body. To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it. Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

The belladonna is an interesting detail, isn't it? If the poison ivy was dug up in a hurry and the belladonna hasn't been used, perhaps the original plan was to poison Clover more severely? It seems risky to assume Light would have gone to the medical bay on a Friday over a rash.

If so, why wasn't the nightshade used? Did the killer miss their opportunity, or were they experiencing second thoughts about the collateral damage from their plan?

Or maybe it's the other way around. Maybe they initially intended to poison Light, leaving him the only victim of their plot, but couldn't get to him, as Clover was with him all week.

That may be why the poison ivy was grabbed in such a rush-- it could have wound up being a last-minute backup plan when they realized the nightshade wouldn't prove to work out too well as they'd like.

Obviously the poison ivy was a last minute addition to the plan. The more pertinent question is why.

There is the fact that nightshade is particularly mostly dangerous when ingested.

Like you mentioned as a possibility, Clover's presence alone would serve as a good deterrent to the culprit looking to poison Light by nightshade. Sneaking it into his food would prove to be difficult with another individual's presence to watch over him... one who could actually see someone tampering suspiciously with another's food.

Or maybe they intended to poison Clover more severely but didn't have access. Their plan involved the turret, so I don't think they were limiting it to just one person....

Yes, it is hard to fathom the killer felt any sort of remorse for a deadly poisoning, but still elected to use the turret.

Do you know if it's possible to deactivate the turret? If not, the killer must have known more casualties were inevitable.

No, it can't be deactivated once activated. Alice had to shut it down both times.

That may have been part of their plan. Or-- there was an accomplice?

Something interesting in the rules about that -- an accomplice cannot resign unless the betray the culprit. I see nothing as to whether they'll receive their incentive.

I find it hard to fathom why a killer would cooperate with an accomplice, given that.

We'd probably know if it was used. The symptoms aren't subtle - can check the bodies to see if there's anything unusual [ aside from all the bullets] but thinking it's not in play yet.

I took an earlier look over Light's body -- specifically his hands and his mouth and found nothing of note.

Just something to keep in mind if someone wants to do another look over him.

...If Clover and Light had been staying in Light's room the whole time, it seems weird for someone to think to poison Clover's keypad.

Is it really? There are some other things I might put first, but that's just me.

No, that is what they say, but is it true? Don't ask me; in Tevinter we hardly ever poison one another; why would we, when curses and potions work so much better?

It's absolutely true. I don't know about curses and potions since we only use potions to heal our injured Pokémon, but most poisonings are done by women, aren't they? It's dangerous, a little hands-off, a little vengeful, and a little sexy.

Did you know my Arbok is poisonous?

I can't deny any of that. There is something rather romantic about it, isn't it? A sexy and mysterious woman, stealthily planting her means of revenge and stealing away? That's why they love it so much in Orlais.

Do you think it's a coincidence that we're all taking about poison and his profile mentions he's resistant to drugs?

It's also important to consider that this means it was likely someone who knows about the medical properties of plants, and which can be used to cause harm. Is that common knowledge in most places?

Reasonably so where I'm from. I wouldn't know the precise properties of the plant, but I'd know which ones were dangerous.
