saturday TRIAL DAY TWO (29) survivors At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort. The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up. The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body. To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it. Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

We're writing Liz off because she's a good kid, so there's no way she could have done it, right? But she's got the opportunity to poison the guy that none of the rest of us have.

[In the back of her mind, she knows it's true. And with the nightmares, who knows who was really who all week long? Any of them could have been acting on the worst impulses, eager to escape a hellish existence.]

There has to be someone else who could have poisoned him! She put his hat in her room, Elizabeth would never...!

[ the peanut gallery over here ]

It isn't as if he wouldn't deserve it, right? Do it. Save us all the trouble. Leave Elizabeth alone.

[ he already put his vote in, after all. ]

[ He laughs, shaking his head ]

Do it if you want. You'll regret it, since I didn't do it, and I've been saying it this whole goddamn time. I kill someone? I'm not going to hide it. I'm not a poisoner.

But, yeah, could have been someone else that poisoned the guy. But, who of the rest had the opportunity to do that? You can look at the others if you want. But just sayin', probably better to not focus on the "why" because it doesn't matter. It happened. That's really all that matters, doesn't it?

You're lucky that I've never wasted my vote and don't intend to start now. I think you and Clover are the most likely to be innocent. You can thank me for my good judgment whenever you're ready.

[Jack has gotten too much flavor text this week, it's suspicious! ...That's not a real reason, though, it's that being stabbed is actually kind of the best alibi. It makes sense to her.]

But what about Light? Do you really think she'd have changed plans and tried to kill him as well? This is...this is too much to believe.

[ He laughs, but he does bow his head to her lightly. ]

I mean, yeah, thank you. And I mean that. 'Cause, yeah, aware that me showing up conveniently when the turrets went off is bad news, but otherwise? This murder isn't me at all.

[ why do people keep assuming that gosh!!! ]

But, nah, I think the idea that Hancock was accidental in a part of it is pretty fair? Like, would kinda have to be, considering someone got the turret. Since, I mean, I wasn't thinking Liz either until the fact that Hancock got poisoned came up. Then that makes everything else weird.

With Fumi, it comes down to her knowing she'd be there every morning. She could pretend she was an intended victim, she could make herself look like she was the one in danger when she wasn't.

With Frankenstein and Elizabeth, it's the fact they weren't at the medbay that makes them suspicious. They could activate the turret, leave, and surround themselves with an alibi.

There's no way Clover is responsible. The price for the crime would be too high, and she can't stage what she's gone through. And as for you, your knife wound leaves you in the clear as far as I'm concerned.

[She'll just rattle off her thoughts so far, wincing at having to include Elizabeth as a suspect. But Todomatsu, Cradle's James, is telling her to think things through more clearly.]

I can't see Hancock accepting a drink from you or Fumi when murders are seeming to happen. I wouldn't trust either of you two myself with food or drink, if I'm being honest.

{ Sure Jack can be... well. Himself, but all the same, he'll add in his own words -- it's dubious they'll do anything to relieve the moment she is having. But he could not help but find himself thinking of the situation the same as last week... with positions reversed. }

I once made the mistake giving my trust into someone I thought couldn't have done it -- that the motive wouldn't affect him so.

And yet, here we are, aren't we? He wound up committing the deed.

{ It opened his eyes for sure. That he couldn't really count on anything being certain until it was proven. }

I have seen you give your own efforts in this entire trial and even beforehand. You're intelligent and resourceful... you have to know Elizabeth must have been involved somehow in this mess.

{ Not that he's saying she's the killer yet. But. She had a part to play in this somewhere. }

That's right. That was your mistake, wasn't it? That was your own fault for trusting that brat.

But Elizabeth is different. Elizabeth would never purposefully murder two people and hurt Clover like that. She's not Kazuma, Kazuma was always a loser, you were all just too dense to see it like I could.

I doubt she had anything to do with setting up that turret, or go to intentionally hurt someone either. It could simply be she was somehow set up to be involved in this.
