WEEK SIX - TRIAL DAY TWO

the pygmalion. . .

ONLINE

CAPTAIN'S LOG:
WEEK (6)

saturday TRIAL DAY TWO

(29) survivors

At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort.

The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up.

The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body.

To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it.

Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

Or maybe they intended to poison Clover more severely but didn't have access. Their plan involved the turret, so I don't think they were limiting it to just one person....

[Hmmm]

But if the nightshade hasn't been used, then it must be around somewhere. Or, perhaps it was used for something else...?

[Marinette doesn't know that much about naughty man's cherries...]

Yes, it is hard to fathom the killer felt any sort of remorse for a deadly poisoning, but still elected to use the turret.

Do you know if it's possible to deactivate the turret? If not, the killer must have known more casualties were inevitable.
missmaladroite: (Angel?)

[personal profile] missmaladroite 2016-07-17 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it can't be deactivated once activated. Alice had to shut it down both times.

That may have been part of their plan. Or-- there was an accomplice?

Something interesting in the rules about that -- an accomplice cannot resign unless the betray the culprit. I see nothing as to whether they'll receive their incentive.

I find it hard to fathom why a killer would cooperate with an accomplice, given that.

If they were close and trying to retire one or the other.....

[She doesn't think it's likely, but this is the first time there's been two victims, so it was a possibility]

I have a hard time seeing how the people in the suspect list would work together, though.
tevinteriscoming: (hurt. 1)

[personal profile] tevinteriscoming 2016-07-17 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I don't think it's all too likely this time about.

I think it's more likely we're dealing with someone who simply didn't care who was in their way.

I can believe that. It was a very cruel plan.

[but who is ruthless enough to have done such a thing????]

We'd probably know if it was used. The symptoms aren't subtle - can check the bodies to see if there's anything unusual [ aside from all the bullets] but thinking it's not in play yet.

I took an earlier look over Light's body -- specifically his hands and his mouth and found nothing of note.

Just something to keep in mind if someone wants to do another look over him.

{ Like look somewhere else... maybe. }

You actually know what Naughty Man's Cherries poisoning looks like?

[YOU GOTTA CALL IT WHAT IT IS]

{ Pls...he just makes a face at the nickname. }

I know the symptoms well enough and what it's supposed to look like.

{ Just not how the plant looked like before he saw this trial... }

Why?
todorable: (but i want it)

[personal profile] todorable 2016-07-17 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
There wasn't anything on his fake hand? Or in it?

[like a nunchuck he still has hope]

...If Clover and Light had been staying in Light's room the whole time, it seems weird for someone to think to poison Clover's keypad.
chiseler: (gonna seize the day)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-17 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Which means...what, the culprit was maybe somebody who was paying close attention to them and banking on Clover taking Light to her room for safety? [He's been mulling on that, too.]
todorable: (beanie)

[personal profile] todorable 2016-07-17 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Or who overheard them at breakfast or something. The nightshade poison was the initial plan, right? Maybe the culprit was trying to target their food but Clover cooked it instead.

...Or, there could've been poison someplace Light would've touched, but he just did it with the wrong hand.
chiseler: (breaking in a sweat)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-17 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know about poisoning their food. Wouldn't that risk missing their target completely if their timing was off? Or can the robots be programmed or...man, I don't know.

His card says his left hand is his fake one, but can a fake hand be used like a real one?
todorable: (i am disappoint)

[personal profile] todorable 2016-07-17 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah... Maybe the poison was supposed to go elsewhere. [hancock, apparently]

You'd probably have to ask Clover or maybe Frank for the details, but it was the most realistic-looking prosthesis I'd ever seen. It just seems weird to have stuff on Clover's pad, where no one had been staying basically ever, and nothing on Light's. That's the only reason I brought the hand up.
missmaladroite: (Needing love as satisfaction)

[personal profile] missmaladroite 2016-07-17 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! Yes, yes... you can do that.

[because she ain't touching corpses.....]
qundercover: (herbskillz-da-ib-03)

[personal profile] qundercover 2016-07-17 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not so bad once you get used to it. And don't think about it too hard.
missmaladroite: (you sexy thing)

[personal profile] missmaladroite 2016-07-17 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I'll leave that to you! You're the expert, after all, Monsieur Bull!
