WEEK 10 - Trial
| the pygmalion. . . ONLINE ![]() CAPTAIN'S LOG: WEEK (10) |
saturday TRIAL DAY ONE (16) survivors ![]() At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort. The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up. The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body. To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it. Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote. |

9:45pm went to play a round of ddr after my very important readin
11:00pm realized 20 rounds of ddr was not 1 round and went back to my room to prep for bed, proceeded to have a slumber party with davey. collabed on some bomb dot com wizard fic look for it in ur local bookstore next summer
7am woke up and couldn't go back to sleep decided i would use this time to make davey pancakes, took his mumbled comments about aj to my plan as a hell yes
7:15am realized i have no idea how to make pancakes
7:30am decided to try aj pancakes instead
7:45am realized i had no idea how to make those either susprisingly
8am presented davey with cereal for breakfast instead and had a gr8 fam breakfast in the cafeteria
8:30am went to the archives 2 read some cat memes
9:20am or whenever it was the lights fucked off for like?? a quarter of an hour??? u try reading cat memes in the dark for all that time
after that snooped a bit in the dry storage drew mustaches in art storage was gonna check out the biolab but then dave came n we went to the air lock to fetch liz :(

9pm-9:13pm went back to my room had a quick shower before going over to mom's place
9:13pm-11pm hung out playing furry passing in mom's room waiting for her to get back from wherever. furry passing is clearly not addicting in any way shape or form at all
11pm-11:48pm spent some time working on the best fucking book the world will never see, fell asleep
6:58am mom woke me up by smacking my arm and saying something about pancakes
7am went back to bed for a bit while she went off to wherever b/c fuck that hour in particular
8am headed down for usual breakfast meetup, there were no pancakes but there was aj and cereal so life was good
8:29am decided to go to the weapons locker room and challenge myself to name all the series those weapons in the case were from. i got zelda, lara, portal, the stark trek gun and the mario shell, but i couldn't figure out wtf the catsuit or the solo gun that wasn't star trek was from. debated several potential star trek jokes to use later.
8:42am stopped testing my meme acumen and went to the rec room to see if anyone ruined my ASS streak on the ms pac man machine. fuck you whoever ruined that streak btw
9:04am successfully managed to recreate my perfect ASS glory and proceeded to move on to ddr
9:15am adrien joined me and we had an epic battle
9:20am the power went out but just for the record i was totally winning that dance battle and no one can fucking prove otherwise dont listen to a word adrien says
anyway after we stopped being locked in a dark room together we went biolabs > archives > cold storage where jessie was then i ditched adrien and jess to find mom to reply to a text from luke to get to the airlock where we discovered our space breathing has not in fact been nerfed
since we didnt implode or die when sent on a fetch quest
also fuck this suspect list with a rusty spork what the fuck

Findings
All evidence and other information found during the course of investigation should be listed here.
(OOC: Please also link the thread where the evidence was found!)
Cold storage
Jessie found Todomatsu's body in the cold storage. The door to the freezer was held open by a bloodied knife. There was blood all over the freezer, but it was all frozen over by the time we found him. So was he. There wasn't anything else but Todomatsu, the gore and the knife. Everything was contained to the ice box.
Jessie also tried to find his phone but he didn't have it on him.

Body
A holographic screen above the body displays two color photos of the scene when the body discovery alarms rang at 9:31 AM and 9:50 AM. The photographs are close ups - they portray Elizabeth's and Todomatsu's bodies, but no more of the scene than is necessary to do so. Still, if you want to check their position, it makes it easy to do so.

Greetings, participants. As always, I am at your disposal should you need to ask anything. Good luck.
[The holographic image will remain throughout the trial. You're free to ask her whatever you want, though whether she'll answer is a different question entirely.]

[ He jerks his thumb to wherever the bodies are just hanging out, since I refuse to say "chilling" in this case ]
Considering Todomatsu, kinda wanna do a little test. I don't know how long it would take for blood to freeze period, much less in cold storage, so. Can I have some blood? [ He laughs, which does not make his additional statement comforting... ] For science, obviously, not because I'm a serial killer or something.

elizabeth's wound
The head wound did seem to leave the blood trail down her clothes and all of the blood had time to soak in before getting frozen outside. So she wasn't wounded and immediately thrown out. It's also worth noting that the blood went down her clothes like she was upright.
It's on the top of her head, not the back, which would make it a different sort of attack.
no subject
Odd that we've two bodies, both frozen in some way, presumably via different methods. I'm not sure the significance of it myself, but I wonder why. If I'm given to understand correctly, someone pushed out that airlock would have frozen very quickly?

totty's phone
[He pauses briefly, more for dramatic effect than anything. Good job, Jason Todd. He is fine. Everything is fine.]
I have a theory. Cellphones have pretty good cameras, right? And the guy seemed to take pictures of whatever he could. So what if, briefly before he was killed, our dead guy snapped a pic of our culprit? It'd explain why the device's not on him, assuming he didn't leave it elsewhere.

[ dave's just going to carefully take off his shirt first and foremost though because he's wearing his detective fuck up shirt from yuno and that's too Important to get bled all over. he can put it back on after he bandages up! he ditches it into his sylladex for the moment and calls out his sword, going to open a freezer where totty wasn't found since
bleeding all over the crime scene won't help? ]
And I mean, we can doublecheck that. [ GESTURES TO FREEZER.
anyway yeah he just carefully slices himself open in such a way that he's not gonna kill himself doing it though it
probably hurts but he doesn't make a sound even if he grimaces AND THEN BLEEDS INTO THE FREEZER I GUESS
this is such a terrible idea wtf ]

But I asked her about overriding the programming of the ship and all she said to me was that it's an answer we can figure out ourselves. [Which is also rude.] So...unless a robot knows how to continue operating in the dark, we should start figuring that out, too.

[aliens meme]
So, just to explain what we've got here. One, we've got sixteen people left. Low number, sucks, but good for this. Because thanks to some of the stuff we've learned this week, we have an estimate for what kind of shit we're dealing with here. That log mentioned we're working with four or five of the Sou-blahblah, but we got rid of two of them. So. Two left, three at the worst. So, generally speaking, you pick a random person, you've either got a 12.5% or a 18.75% chance they're one of 'em, right? But that's also just one person. We've got five here. Now, personally, don't think Alice picks our suspects randomly, but. For the sake of this? Let's say she does. And also fudging the math here slightly because ehhh, helps make my point, but.
You pick five people, and you've got that probability every time with a decreasing sample size? Preeeeetty unlikely that none of them are going to be an alien. So. Just want to put that up for consideration here, because now that we have actual numbers for how many aliens we're dealing with, I think we should consider that it's pretty damn likely that at least one of these people's alibi is a lie, and they're not even gonna know it.

Cellphone Findings
"If you're looking at this, congrats, I'm dead. If I'm not dead, then why do you have my phone, seriously that's a super dick move. If you can, please send the phone back to my mom. Tell her I appreciate everything she's done, Dad too.
Tell my brothers not to forget me, even though they probably already did, assholes. Tell Jessie..."
[...well, moving on.]
"Try and keep everyone from playing with my corpse too much. Unless it's super gross! I really hope it's not super gross. Now, stop messing with my phone, you're gonna kill the battery early."
[She presses a button on the phone to make it go dark, letting it rest as she twirls it in her fingers, presenting the dark screen to anyone listening as her way of saying she's already done looking at it.]
It's mostly photographs that were taken at home or on the ship. I'm still going through the clips, but there's no infamous cliche killer shots. If someone else wants to take a look, be my guest, but it's mine now. Arbok will make sure it gets back to me.
[She's taking Todomatsu's last will as another mission she has to carry out. Dammit, Totty.]
But don't you all think that's odd? Why would he stuff his cellphone there when he's never seen without it? He was probably trying to sleep or wait in his room until I was done with my patrol. I doubt he'd have left it there if he were going out for a walk himself. No, that'd be almost impossible for him.
DAY ONE TRIAL END
It is 7PM, participants. As usual, the trial shall be placed on hold until the morning. Dinner will be held in this room, like last trial. Please do not stab the robots. They will take your order and bring it out to you. They cannot do this if they are damaged. To ensure that there will be no tampering with the evidence, all participants are to remain in this room. Blankets and entertainment shall be provided shortly, and should you find a change of clothes necessary, that can also be arranged.
[ A few moments later, the screens and tablets are on again, this time providing a selection of winter-themed movies, and retro gaming. Anyone who leaves will be accompanied by a robot, and then ushered back into the conference room. You're stuck in a sleepover with the corpse near you again, it seems.
Feel free to thread out any of the evening's interactions here. ]
