WEEK 10 - Trial

the pygmalion. . .

ONLINE

CAPTAIN'S LOG:
WEEK (10)

saturday TRIAL DAY ONE

(16) survivors

At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort.

The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up.

The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body.

To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it.

Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

She would have been gone pretty quickly if she was moving one way and the ship was moving the other. I think. [ Space physics?? ]

Looks like it was a heavy blow. [ He lets Luke look into that more and he moves onto the blood on her clothes. Does it look like the blood came from her head wound? Is there a trail? ]
chiseler: (it was really only you)

I don't know how fast we're going either, but I guess that makes some sense. So the time of her death and being thrown out must've been pretty short. [Elizabeth...he's not touching her head but he's getting a closer look.] The room closest to the airlock is the rec room. You've been down there. Anything heavy that could have been used to knock her out?

[...ugh fine what if he tentatively tries to move her hair a little to see if he can get a better look? Ughughugh.]

Not really. There's board games... Pool cues and billiards? But that'd take a lot of force and multiple hits to disguise the shape. Does it look like she was hit more than once?

[ Does the blood look like it was particularly old or fresh when it was frozen? Any part of it that seemed to congeal as opposed to soaking into her clothes? He's trying to figure out how long she would have been bleeding before getting frozen. ]
chiseler: (and you're feeling so left behind)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-08-13 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think so. I can't really tell, it's sort of a mess...maybe her head was banged against one of the game cabinets? But you'd think we'd find blood or clues in the rec room if that were true. So there's another method of murder in play here.

[And since they're alone...] And we still don't know how they got the airlock open in the first place. [He pauses, and then he starts checking for any other significant wounds among the blood. It's just the head, right?]

Could always ask the AI about what would have to happen to open the airlock. [ Alright, he moves away from her. That's everything he was wondering about. ]

The blood is completely soaked in and since it's a trail all the way down to her skirt, there was definitely some time between the attack and the airlock. And... she'd have to be upright or the blood would have gone a different way, right?
chiseler: (nice work you did)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-08-13 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know if she'll answer me if I asked since...y'know. Suspect. [There's one last look at Liz before he also moves away.] But you're right. So someone had to come up and hit her from the front while she was standing and then propped her up maybe? That's all I can think of but why would they leave her body somewhere? Give them time to kill Todomatsu?

From the front... So maybe they were invisible. I think it's possible she was also in the freezer since it's hard to tell if she was frozen from space or not. But the question would be, why both of them?
chiseler: (is an art that's hard to teach)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-08-13 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Well that means either the cloaking device was in play or...Roxy. [Yikes.] I don't know about being in the freezer though because why go through the effort of then throwing her off the ship?

What if it's a case like last week where Todomatsu walked in on something he wasn't supposed to?

[personal profile] antietam 2016-08-13 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He shrugs at the mention of Roxy like he's already very much considering her thanks to intangibility. It's something. ]

To bring up this whole question about how it could happen. The problem is we don't even have a crime scene like last week. There has to be something in the rooms...

So that means we're actually doing room searches again. [That's great. He's getting tired of people going through his stuff.] I don't know if we'll find anything but it's worth a shot. We should also do cross-checks of the rooms we found evidence in.

I'll see if I can check your room. [ He's an unbiased participant as everyone knows. ]
chiseler: (bottle rockets and celebrate)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-08-13 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool. As long as you didn't leave anything incriminating around either we should be fine.
