WEEK SIX - TRIAL DAY TWO

the pygmalion. . .

ONLINE

CAPTAIN'S LOG:
WEEK (6)

saturday TRIAL DAY TWO

(29) survivors

At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort.

The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up.

The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body.

To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it.

Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

Deadly nightshade + Poison Ivy + Observations & Conclusions

[personal profile] thanatosincarnate 2016-07-17 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
{ Welp guess who decided to step up to the plate to write this. It's him. }

EVIDENTIAL REPORT

Poison Ivy - A few leaves were found torn from the plant in the garden and it was used by the killer to wipe against the door entry pad to her room in order to coerce her and Light to go to the medbay. It was also disposed of by incineration. Dangerous to one's health when burned, and only lethal when the amount burned is great. When it isn't burned, it doesn't have a scent that can be detected. When it is burned the scent is strong and hard to miss, causing irregularity of the heart. Causes rashes when touched by bare skin.

Note: Verification that poison ivy was the plant responsible for the above mentioned usage was done by civilian Adrien Agreste.

Dave Strider is the one who recognized how the plant appears by sight, as he is familiar with the flora itself.

We all also observed that the killer was very much in a hurry to carry out the deed given how hurriedly they ripped off some of the leaves from the poison ivy.

Deadly nightshade [ Since Arumat actually had to bring it in, you get a nice actual visage of the plant. ] - Another plant from Earth. Can be used as medicinal in small amounts, and anything greater than that would be dangerous considering how extremely toxic it is via ingestion in such numbers.

In addition, someone attempted to cover up that they took one whole plant of the nightshade by moving dirt over a gap between the plants that were still remaining. That is all.

JACK'S ROOM

[personal profile] bloodbiter 2016-07-17 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Bull and I checked Handsome Jack's room together. Three things were immediately apparent: broken shards that were once part of a glass littered the floor, as well as stains caused by blood and alcohol. This seems to match the testimony he gave.

The largest bloodstain was near his desk, and smaller pools of it led into the bathroom. There we found a knife, presumably the one he was stabbed with. The blood in this room was largely concentrated near his toilet, so I imagine he sat down after he was injured. There were two towels, both stained with blood, though the blood on one of them was diluted. I imagine this is because the towel had water on it as well.

In his desk, there were papers with strange diagrams and what seemed to be mathematical equations. I would imagine this had to do with the program he mentioned he was working on for the datapads. Apart from the blood and alcohol stains and the glass, the rest of his quarters were quite neat. We have brought back the knife, the broken glass, and the bloodied towels.

[And true to her word, all these items are now in evidence to be looked over by anyone curious.]

Light's room

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-17 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
As excepted, when Arumat and I went to search through Light's room we didn't find a whole lot. What we DID find was a bunch of Clover's stuff that indicated she'd been staying there for a while. The Fields stayed together all week. So how did our killer know they'd be changing it up?

Other than a couple of books there wasn't much in the room.

[And since the list Light and Clover made isn't relevant to the case, he thinks, he isn't bringing it up either. So there.]

[ He can't believe he's actually doing this, but after requesting a clean napkin from a robot he'll head off to Light's room. Specifically, he's going to wipe a small part of the handprint scanner and then.

And then he'll take that napkin, dab a little bit on the inside of his arm, and wait fifteen minutes. Does anything show up? ]

[ Goddammit. He should have known this would happen!

Well, it was a worthwhile sacrifice. Machias will just have to live with the itching. Maybe get some ointment for it later, but for now he'll just return to go report the results. ]

Clover's Room

The room was entirely empty. Clover definitely stayed in Light's room. Only the bathroom had basic toiletries and make up.

Hancock's Body

[personal profile] qundercover 2016-07-17 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Took another look at Hancock's body. His mouth looked irritated, smelled of vomit and - according to the cat kid - Death. Eyes were dilated. Could be from a hangover, but could be something else.

Also found a note on a napkin in his pocket, a list of tools:

luminol (X)
fingerprinting kit (X)
poison detection kit
clean food
bottled water
flashlight
magnifying glass
black light
tool kit
mystery device (X)(X)

Seems to confirm he had the third party role.

FRANKENSTEIN'S ROOM

[personal profile] breakshot 2016-07-17 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Todomatsu and I had a look at Frankenstein's room. As expected, he keeps his room in top order with nothing out of place.

There were a few personal letters addressed to people onboard - Light and Clover Field's names among them. Aside from that, we didn't find anything that seemed relevant to the investigation.

Elizabeth's room

Jessie and I looked through Elizabeth's room, but there wasn't anything that stood out outside of a few personal letters.

Hancock's Room

[personal profile] missmaladroite 2016-07-17 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Jason and I searched Hancock's room. Jason said nearly nothing changed from last week - his will was still there, and everything else was a chaotic mess. There were a lot of bottles of alcohol on the ground - none of them were wine. There was a bottle of wine on the desk, mostly full, with two glasses. One was a glass of water, half full, and the other was an empty glass of wine. These were probably from when Elizabeth visited, unless he was drinking with someone else.

Hancock's letter was a little....
[she only read the part where they made out!!] Well, it suited his personality.

Fumi's Room

[personal profile] tacklefordwhimsy 2016-07-17 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
There's not much to see, but it's worth noting her toothbrush and hairbrush aren't in her bathroom? If they are in Harold's room then that confirms Fumi's alibi.

Also, she's a fan of hopscotch, has been working about the extent of her powers, whatever they are, and has chemical notes that may be about stuff from the medbay. Maybe it's about the salve.
