WEEK 7 - Trial Day Two

the pygmalion. . .

ONLINE

CAPTAIN'S LOG:
WEEK (7)

sunday TRIAL DAY TWO

(24) survivors

At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort.

The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up.

The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body.

To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it.

Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

Speaking of races, none of the individuals crawling through the vents sounded close to the noise made in the vents when Luke and I were present nearby the crime scene.

{ he sighs

he has a thought }

... Although there's a possibility the culprit responsible could have simply been taking on their alien form which could sound different than them being in their regular form and crawling through the vents.

{ but how would they be able to tell if that were the case

maybe its something simpler that they're overlooking. because can something not be difficult for once. }

Taking on their alien form, or emulating what an alien scurrying through the vents would sound like.

[Honestly, he still thinks they should keep an open mind.]

We had Rhys moving around the ship all week long. The sounds were kind of faint — but most people on the ship were able to hear them. Do you think there were any similarities between the two?

It sounded similar, but not exactly a match.

{ ... }

In that case, we need to consider the following:

Why, would the killer want to emulate it being an alien monster being the culprit, who on the suspect list would benefit the most from it, and what exactly was used to create the sound. An item? Or them attempting to bang around thinking that would suffice?

I think the why is easy enough to answer. Elizabeth and Rhys are evidence enough that anyone could have an alien hijacking their body. If we assume one of the aliens did it, then that means we have no way to discard any of the suspects. Not when any one of them could have simply shifted forms and gone through the vents. Anyone could benefit from a net cast that wide.

[Anyway...]

We still don't know what was printed in the robotics bay. It has schematics for items other than dildos, so it might be worth checking out if any one of those makes a similar sound in the vents.

{ He's still not... convinced it wasn't an alien, granted he doesn't have a concrete reason why, but he also won't discount that what Jason proposed could be a possibility as well. Keeping his mind open to many factors would be good. }

...

So if there was a way to check its item creation capabilities { what is this, star ocean? } or history, you mean?

Then that should be looked into immediately. Today's our last day.

{ does this mean he gets to drag Jason around now because he will in order to check it out if Jason isn't taking care of other things/planned to do so with someone else, or if someone ELSE planned to do so. }

If I'm not mistaken, didn't Jack check out the printer's history? It seems like it was wiped clean.

[Well. He can drag Jason around if he wants three eyes between the two of them. He might as well live up to the bat name and spread himself thin.]

I recall that, yes.

{ Maybe something's in the robotics lab they're missing... }

Either way, we could find something we overlooked. Let's go.

{ Should they bring the monitor (or a replica) with them just in case? }

...there's one thing I thought about last night that I forgot to mention to you when we were in the kitchen yesterday. The sound. When Arumat and I heard it it was really loud but then it totally stopped after those thirty seconds. What do you make of that?
antagonize: (040)

[personal profile] antagonize 2016-07-24 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait— Stopped. You mean as in stopped abruptly instead of fading off, like someone was moving further away? Because if it's the former, that doesn't sound like someone crawling away from the scene of the crime.
chiseler: (ain't it strange?)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-24 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. [To his credit he looks a little apologetic that he's just now remembering that, but there's a lot going on.] I think we were both too distracted by Fumi to really register that's what happened but it was loud enough to get us ready to fight and then stopped out of nowhere. That's when we got into the kitchen and found everything else.

Which means...what? [...shit wait.] It wasn't a person at all?

It wasn't a living being at all. Period. Not unless our culprit is a snake. And I'm pretty damn sure we would have noticed that.
chiseler: (there is no safer place)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-24 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
So what then, like a robot maybe? I thought everything else in the lab wasn't really working.
