the pygmalion. . . ONLINE CAPTAIN'S LOG: WEEK (2)

friday (?) survivors Friday comes again, but this time it's much more gentle. There are no songs ousting you from your rooms, no — instead, you are allowed to sleep however long you would like as long as it does not breach any rules. If you attempt to open your datapad, however, you will be greeted with a video and accompanying music, of a different sort of persuasion from the music played previously — this one is not a jangly easy listening style tune, but rather a haunting and dreamlike elegy. Turning off your datapad will make the video disappear, but restarting the datapad will only bring the video back up again. Despite this, nothing out of the ordinary seems to occur. You have lunch, wander the garden, and have a drink with the companions you have made in the past two weeks. Soon, mid-afternoon comes. ENTER COMMAND_

[...is it terrible that he laughed a little? Because that happened and he looks up from the stand when he hears both Adelina step into the chapel and Clover speak up.]

Can't you tell? Hard at work lookin' for clues.

[addie's scanning through the pews, but she does look up to frown at clover - though it's more the situation than anything she's said]

[poor Adelina does not deserve this, but Luke appreciates Clover's awful sense of humor and so she grins. Since there's no apparent corpses in the area, she hauls herself up and over the back of a pew to sit there.]

Anything to show for it yet? [aaand turning to Adelina and waving pleasantly.] Hi, Adelina!

There's a knife under the pew you're in but other than that, I've got nothing. [Someday this is going to be less funny. Today's probably not that day. He's still switching through archives idly but he's watching both girls just as closely.] Either of you know what they found already besides an alarm?

[News travels fast ok.]

[someone's taking luke 100% seriously and glancing towards him]

[poor adelina........ Clover actually starts to lean forward a little like she's gonna check, just out of instinct, and then she sits back up and sticks her tongue out at Luke.]

Oh, lay off her. [Adelina is Too Good for this nonsense!!! But like, Clover's also picking her feet up so Adelina can come look if she wants. She's not helping. Today definitely isn't the day that this stops being funny, sorry Addie.]

I would thank you to remember that this is hardly the time for immature jests.

If this isn't the time, then what is? [There's clearly something wrong with them, it's fine.] Panicking about everything isn't gonna do much for us and besides, we're all still alive.

[Something is very definitely wrong with them but poor Adelina is still pure, at least in comparison, so Clover is at least making an effort to be less sassy??]

To be fair, we probably could find something better to do... But he's right, panicking won't help at all.

When precisely did I advise either of you to begin panicking?

[He's finally going to leave the stand to come join them at the pew, immediately lounging on it.]

Then what do you suggest? No panicking, no making jokes about it...what else can we do while everybody's playing junior detective?

He's got a point. Not that it's any fun to sit around and wait, and we should get caught up, but with so many of us and not a whole lot of space, we're probably just gonna get in the way if we jump in the middle of someone else's investigation...

[especially given that "junior detective" just about sums up the skillset available around here. murdergames are so much easier when there are only nine of you snooping around at any given time, yeesh]

All I am suggesting is that this might not be the time to make jokes given our current situation.

Look. Our current situation's not gonna change anytime soon, so why not? I'm just saying we might have a better chance at figuring all of this out if we're not taking it entirely seriously.

[yes, "we," she's dragging Luke into this. her instinct to sass and make murder jokes just barely comes secondary to her concern for murdergame children and Adelina is definitely a child!!
