WEEK TWO - Investigation

friday (?) survivors Friday comes again, but this time it's much more gentle. There are no songs ousting you from your rooms, no — instead, you are allowed to sleep however long you would like as long as it does not breach any rules. If you attempt to open your datapad, however, you will be greeted with a video and accompanying music, of a different sort of persuasion from the music played previously — this one is not a jangly easy listening style tune, but rather a haunting and dreamlike elegy. Turning off your datapad will make the video disappear, but restarting the datapad will only bring the video back up again. Despite this, nothing out of the ordinary seems to occur. You have lunch, wander the garden, and have a drink with the companions you have made in the past two weeks. Soon, mid-afternoon comes. ENTER COMMAND_

[ Thankfully it isn't a person. Instead, if they lean in, they'll notice it's the remains of some pale ceramic material. ]

[ dave will let someone else poke it? he'll try to look further into the room to see if a) it is safe to enter and b) is there anyone who was screaming? ]

[ It doesn't seem like anyone is in here. It's pretty dark though, and there's a lot of desks. ]

[ ok can he turn on the lights or something. if not he will just...

ok actually he will float inside rather than walk because he is not about the trap triggering life that he is pretty sure he just lived? better go Investigate the desks. ]

[ Doesn't seem to be anything on top of any of the desks. ]

[ what about inside or underneath? ]

[al2955]

[ Nothing inside.

However, underneath one desk near the back is an item. It looks like it's taped to the bottom. ]

[ dave will get under the desk to try to get a better look at what that is before yanking it off. ]

{ Wherever Dave isn't looking, Arumat will be looking. He'll move some desks aside trying to see if there is anything around. }

[ There's nothing of note on the floor anywhere. ]

{ Fantastic -- it's so dark in here though, is there anyway to switch on the lights in here? Because he'll touch along the walls to try to see if there was a switch.

Or, honestly, if there was something there they might have missed. Probably not, but it's a pain in the ass moving around in the dark. }

[ If Arumat skirts the wall close enough, he'll eventually come to a switch. Turning on the lights illuminates the room a little, but they're still a bit dim. It doesn't look like there's anything else around. ]

Huh.

[GOOD. Or not good. Depends what happens next. Jason is just going to bend down to pick one of the pieces up for a closer look.]

What do we have here?

[ He'll notice that some of the pieces have raised spots. It's hard to tell what it was because of how many pieces it shattered into. Maybe if you all weren't such brutes. ]

[antagonize]

[It's not their fault they're clumsy wilting flowers...

BUT. FINE. Is it possible to collect the pieces to at least try and jenga them together? Or tape them together, if there's tape in the office.]

[ When Jason picks up the pieces and turns them over, he'll notice that the other side is a navy blue. There are raised parts that are a more pale beige. It will take him some time to put the pieces together. Thankfully, there's some desks in the office perfect for a little jigsaw puzzle. ]

[Good enough. Don't mind him, then, as he settles down to put whatever the heck this is back together. Will he eventually succeed?]

[ It looks like some pieces are missing. The may have disintegrated or flew away somewhere. Either way, he can mostly make whatever it is this is. It has an oval shape, and looks like it has some skillfully done paint on certain pieces. ]

[It is unlikely this ceramic object was what was blocking the door. Shelley is going to examine any lock or handle that may have be in the door or nearby.

Do futuristic spaceships have locks, anyway?]

[ The office doesn't appear to have any sort of lock on the inside. ]

...no locks, no handle...that ceramic object really may have been the only thing that was keeping us outside. Could it have been big and heavy enough for that?

[She isn't convinced yet]

[ If Shelley pushes the door back and forth, she'll notice that it slides back and forth to open and close. However, it seems to get caught in the corner, as if part of the door is chipped down there. ]

[Of course she did that. So she's going to look at it closer to see if anything else could be found about this flaw in the door. Could it have happened from forcing it open? Chances are it did, but better make sure to find the causes...if possible]
