Friday comes again, but this time it's much more gentle. There are no songs ousting you from your rooms, no — instead, you are allowed to sleep however long you would like as long as it does not breach any rules. If you attempt to open your datapad, however, you will be greeted with a video and accompanying music, of a different sort of persuasion from the music played previously — this one is not a jangly easy listening style tune, but rather a haunting and dreamlike elegy. Turning off your datapad will make the video disappear, but restarting the datapad will only bring the video back up again.

Despite this, nothing out of the ordinary seems to occur. You have lunch, wander the garden, and have a drink with the companions you have made in the past two weeks. Soon, mid-afternoon comes.

[ It doesn't seem like anyone is in here. It's pretty dark though, and there's a lot of desks. ]

[ ok can he turn on the lights or something. if not he will just...

ok actually he will float inside rather than walk because he is not about the trap triggering life that he is pretty sure he just lived? better go Investigate the desks. ]

[ Doesn't seem to be anything on top of any of the desks. ]

[ what about inside or underneath? ]

[ Nothing inside.

However, underneath one desk near the back is an item. It looks like it's taped to the bottom. ]

[ dave will get under the desk to try to get a better look at what that is before yanking it off. ]

[ It looks like a tablet. The screen is off, as if in sleep mode or powered down. ]

[ all right. are there any wires connected to the thing FORGIVE HIS PARANOIA because if there are he'll have Concerns but if not he will untape it and try to boot it up.

wait shit that can trigger things too can't it

[ There are several wires connected to the tablet, and it looks like it's too late. The tablet-bomb explodes. Dave Strider is dead.

Actually, there's no wires at all. It's just taped to the bottom of the desk, looking inconspicuous enough. When he hits the home button, the screen will come right on. Looks like it was just in sleep mode. It reads:

ALARM

slide to stop alarm ]

[ DAVE ISN'T SURE HE TRUSTS YOU TABLET but ok he slides to stop the alarm and to try to pull up the screen to see wtf was going on.

who was hoarding tablets, dave thinks to himself hypocritically like he doesn't just return his tablet and take out roxy's tablet every morning, while she takes out his. ]

[ It opens up to the alarm screen. The slider to turn the alarm on is towards the 'off' side now. Dave successfully defused the alarm!

At the top of the page is an 'edit' button and a '+' button. ]

[ ...he has a suspicion. if he tries to play the alarm, what sound will it make? just. sets an alarm for like five seconds from now WHY NOT. ]

[ Dave will be greeted with a loud, ear piercing scream. Maybe he should have checked the volume before doing that. ]

[ SWEARS AND NEARLY DROPS THE TABLET OKAY FUCK TURN OFF THE ALARM TURN OFF THE ALARM ]

{ He'll look over at Dave once the piercing scream goes off and comes over after turning on the lights. }

... What the hell do you think you're doing?

Someone set up...lbr, this is a distraction. The princess is in another castle, guys. And by princess I 100% mean corpse.

[ he holds up the tablet, making a face. ]

Let's split and conquer, I guess?

[WELL. After examining whatever the heck that ceramic object was and hearing that scream from the ABYSS again, this bodes well.]

I wouldn't say split and conquer [BECAUSE OF THE ORIGINAL CONTEXT], but I agree we should look elsewhere. If someone's dead, the killer might have used this time to clean up the real evidence.

Yeah, we better speed it the fuck up.

[ because clearly Time is of the essence here. ]

They wanted to buy time for something, so...I'm gonna go try to find mom and investigate shit, I guess.

[ The alarm goes off a few more times before Dave is able to fumble with it enough to turn it off. Way to make all your investigation friends piss themselves, Dave!! ]

[ WOW THANKS BRACKETS. ok does the tablet have anything more of interest on it? what was the exact time for the alarm, is anything else open, etc? ]

[ The alarm is set to go off at 4:30 PM one time. There's nothing else of note open. ]

{ Fantastic -- it's so dark in here though, is there anyway to switch on the lights in here? Because he'll touch along the walls to try to see if there was a switch.

Or, honestly, if there was something there they might have missed. Probably not, but it's a pain in the ass moving around in the dark. }

[ If Arumat skirts the wall close enough, he'll eventually come to a switch. Turning on the lights illuminates the room a little, but they're still a bit dim. It doesn't look like there's anything else around. ]
