WEEK 1 - TRIAL DAY TWO

the pygmalion. . .

ONLINE

CAPTAIN'S LOG:
WEEK (1)

saturday TRIAL DAY TWO

(40) survivors

At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort.

The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up.

The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body.

To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it.

Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

[after submitting the evidence she and minako found, she addresses the rest of the room.]

The scrape we found would some indicate that something occurred within the victim's room, but the rest of the room appeared fairly neat. This either means there was little struggle there or that the killer returned to tidy the room up after the murder. I'm wondering if the victim was incapacitated within her room somehow, then taken to the daycare and killed there. I should like to hear everyone's thoughts on this.

...If there was a struggle in the victim's room, then the killer would've had to have been let in, wouldn't they? Under some pretense.

If it's true, that takes away the idea that the murder was done in self-defense, unless the victim was planning to kill someone in her own bedroom. [which. seems like a stupid idea.]

Unless she made the mark on her own, which I find unlikely, you must be right. I feel like there's something important about the scratch itself, too... If it wasn't caused by a knife or by her scratching at the frame to avoid being pulled out of the room, I wonder how it could have occurred.

Claws? [well. he's the only one with claws as far as he knows, so that first reflex is unhelpful] Or... Maybe the key before it turned into a knife.

[personal profile] bloodbiter 2016-06-12 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Do any of the suspects have claws...? [adrien what]

That's a possibility. I still feel as though there's something we may be missing.

How odd.

Would it have been possible for the killer to return to tidy up? I was under the impression the doors were locked.
bloodbiter: (control your body fluids)

[personal profile] bloodbiter 2016-06-12 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose they could have found a method to keep the door from closing before they could return... One would think that would run the risk of attracting attention if someone were to notice. That being said, they could have been counting on the fact that nobody would be around to notice the door propped open at such a late hour. I'm not sure.
tevinteriscoming: (offended.)

[personal profile] tevinteriscoming 2016-06-12 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, interesting.

Is it possible that's how the scratch came to be in the first place? Something used to prop open the door?
bloodbiter: (control your body fluids)

[personal profile] bloodbiter 2016-06-12 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
The mark was on the inside of the door frame, so it's certainly possible. If that is the case... I wonder how to determine who she may have let into her room willingly in the first place.

As for what I believe:

Callisto allowed the killer into her own room -- the meeting was likely arranged. It may have been with someone she knew or trusted, especially to the point where she'd wind up turning her back to the killer in question. It'd leave her exposed enough to be incapacitated, hence the bruises on her back.

It doesn't seem like she was ever cognizant of the killer having an ulterior motive once she was alone.

Then, as you said, she was carried to the daycare and killed there. The mess we saw could have been a set up of some kind to make it look like it all happened in the daycare. The question would be why the killer would want to make it look like everything happened in that location, if that were true.
monsieurchatastrophe: (and so I'll read a book)

[personal profile] monsieurchatastrophe 2016-06-12 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
To frame someone else, maybe? I'm pretty sure Jessie is on the suspect list because she's always in the daycare early in the morning.
thanatosincarnate: (> Aside)

[personal profile] thanatosincarnate 2016-06-12 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
That could be one reason.

{ Maybe Jessie should frequent another place entirely. }

If it was a frame job, it could also conjure suspicion easily towards someone of a larger build.

I can see why they wouldn't want it to appear as though they were ever in her room. Any of the five suspects could have killed her in the daycare, but it's harder to imagine that any of the five would have been allowed in her room.

[a sigh]

Of course, that would be more useful if we knew more about her or who she trusted.
thanatosincarnate: (> conflict)

[personal profile] thanatosincarnate 2016-06-12 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
It would be incriminating, for one suspect if we were looking at it from a different angle. Someone who at least knew the suspect in some capacity would look more suspicious than the rest who didn't.

Alita mentioned she had only spoke to her once. Not that this means much, since the other suspects could have done the same to Callisto in private, but it is something to keep in mind.

{ Who even knows... }
breakshot: (evening moments)

[personal profile] breakshot 2016-06-12 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's to mislead us as to what actually happened, in terms of order of events. Up until now, we'd thought this all took place in the daycare and nowhere else. Until now, we wouldn't have thought it'd have actually taken place in her room.

Not only that, but we thought this may have been a case of self-defense and that a struggle may have gone down between the killer and Miss Yew. Hence, two stabbings. One to make it look like she'd been accidentally stabbed during the struggle, and the other to [ he briefly hesitates, frowning ] ...finish the job.

If that's the case, it might explain why we saw only one pool of blood despite everything else.

They could have easily tampered with the ballpit... That would explain the splattered blood. They could have taken some of the healing serum despite not being injured to support the idea of a struggle that in fact never took place.

A thought.

Luke Castellan's card mentions he's skilled in lockpicking. Now, the locks on the cabin doors are rather more complicated than the locks I'm accustomed to. Perhaps it would be impossible, but if it weren't, it wouldn't be necessary for Calypso to have invited anyone in.
bloodbiter: (you do not fuck with a man that knows)

[personal profile] bloodbiter 2016-06-12 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Jason's profile mentions that as well. Perhaps... Since there are two of them, we could ask the both if such a thing would be possible. If one is the killer, they would obviously have reason to lie, but that leaves one who has no reason not to be honest.

Luke wouldn't be able to pick the lock on the door -- he's not familiar with this technology enough to hack into it and would need to learn how to hack as well as use a terminal in the first place.

{ He remembers discussing his lock-picking ability before this murder went down. }

Even if he were able, Callisto would have noticed if someone had brute forced their way into her room and the room would be more of a mess. Not to mention it would have been more difficult to subdue her in that state -- granted not an impossibility.

The room was also almost immaculate, making it easy to conclude that was hardly a struggle involved at all.

Or at least someone she chose to confide in enough to open her doors to them. It could even be that the killer had been privately conferring with Callisto to build up her trust even before then.

{ But they wouldn't know who yet, if that was the case. }

The only suspect who mentioned speaking with the deceased was Alita. It's something to keep in mind -- as its not something at this point that would immediately mean she is the culprit.

{ He'd actually would like them gather more evidence for that and ask more questions before finally landing to accusations. }

Wasn't it early in the morning? Not like anyone knows this- [since no one actually talked to Tokyo Mew Mew] but did she seem like the type to let anyone in at, like, eight in the morning? Friends or not, that's pretty early for a normal meet up.

Even if it was earlier in the morning than that, there's still the evidence that someone was in a room. They would have had to be let in.
