WEEK 1 - Trial

the pygmalion. . .

ONLINE

CAPTAIN'S LOG:
WEEK (1)

saturday TRIAL DAY ONE

(40) survivors

At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort.

The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up.

The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body.

To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it.

Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. At 7PM, the trial will adjourn for the day. All players will be escorted by the robots into the cafeteria. From there, they're free to head into the lounge, the viewing deck, the chapel, or back to their rooms. All other areas of the ship have been locked off, and every player will be accompanied by a robot until they return to their room for the night. Any attempts to enter a locked off room or physically interfere with the trial or evidence outside of their room will cause the robot to raise a ship-wide alarm.

[ dave sets up camp in one of the corners of the room with roxy; the two of them request pillows and will sit there chatting for a while before bed, so feel free to talk to dave or to talk to both of them at once. he's also going to request mac'n'cheese for dinner ("but the funny cartoon shape kind, that tastes better") with, surprise surprise, apple juice to drink. dave will also play video games for a while although he's not The Best and mostly dicks around. he is a chaotic influence in the games since he will frequently do things just for shits and giggles rather than for the sake of Winning, which means he's that asshole who throws traps a ton or hits things he shouldn't and just generally makes life Difficult for his coplayers/competitors.

feel free to hit him up at any point if you want to discuss the trial or something and/or if you want to comment on his food choices or yell at him for hitting you with another turtle shell in mario kart or something. ]

{ The implicit assertion by the AI that they were to sleep in that room did nothing to simmer the ire that flared consistently at every foolish moment the trial had taken a moment to deviate in. He valued his privacy -- the cessation of that to the point where he'd have to share a room with a murderer was a capital offense.

The affair affected him greatly, but opened him to socialize since he was restless. He drew closer to Roxy and Dave, his eyes landing upon a unfamiliar game that the blond played seemingly flawlessly. }

What game is this?

Mario Kart, it's a racin' game. I'm Yoshi - the green dino - and Mom's god Toadette. Cute pink kid with the braids.

[ doesn't look up ]

It's considered the holiest of games, truly the pinnacle of gaming. It's a religious icon on our planet.

[ roxy don't fuck with the elf that's rude ]

{ A game he would not be entertained in -- at least this he assumes. Still, he elects to debate whether he should or should not. It appears to be a good enough distraction.

He's honestly mildly confused at Roxy's addition to Dave's words of it being a religious icon. }

Hmph. A game like that being a religious icon on Earth? What about it makes it so captivating?

[ explain or roll with mom's lies...

obviously dave picks > roll with your mother's lies ]

It's a way to test your bonds in fire. Like, if you manage not to shank a dude over mario kart, you've basically got a solid relationship that will take you all the way through life.

[ no????? ]

Although Monopoly is an even higher tier than this.

[ dave is such a good child. ]

Oh man, don't even talk about it. It's too dangerous to speak of aloud. Just it's name is enough to get a guy to flip a table, sometimes.

{ Sometimes, it's best to mess around a little during break-time.

Needless to say, he's finding himself to scoff easily enough. It sounded ridiculous to him.

Monopoly is something he recognizes vaguely... only as a game a human from Earth mentioned once but just by name. }

You might as well talk about it. I don't see how another game can be a 'higher tier' than another game, unless there were higher stakes.

{ Too dangerous? Really? Somehow he did doubt that. }

Idk, man, if I go against the mom here I might get my ass grounded?

[ like. do u want him to be put in pajama baby jail. do you. ]

But if you think you can handle it...we could always ask Aloe Vera if she has a copy of the game somewhere.

[ pajama baby jail is just a wall of pillows and blankets in the corner, such a horror. ]

If you're not afraid of the... consequences, that is.

I doubt she could ground you for long in a place like this.

{ Pajama baby jail is comparable to terrible horrors. }

I'm not afraid of a simple game. Ask Alo-- that AI.
