cradleproject | WEEK 9 - INVESTIGATION

[Anybody who can go to sleep after that explosion is a better man than Luke is. He'd checked out some things before heading down and without even thinking he follows after Jack to the airlock, coming up behind him to also glance around. There sure was blood leading here so that's something.]

So. There goes the chapel theory. [Hey Jack.] What've we got here…?

[okay, maybe it's not the most helpful comment, but considering the hour you can't really expect people firing on all cylinders, can you??]

I thought the airlock didn't work.

[ The airlock, in fact, doesn't work, but that didn't stop someone from having a fun time in it nevertheless. As soon as the airlock is opened, it's clear to see a big lump lying right at the entrance, lying on its back. The form is feminine, and it doesn't take closer inspection to realize she's pretty young.

[ Well, that pretty much immediately catches Jack's attention here, obviously! Once he's sure the airlock is safe enough to step inside, he'll do so and go check out whoever is lying in the corner to see who it is. ]

[Great. One of the girls, so that's not okay. While Jack's checking out the body he nods to Totty in greeting before also stepping into the airlock. There's nothing else immediate is there? He's also glancing at the body and Jack out of the corner of his eye just in case.]

...seems a little weirdly obvious, don't you think?

[tentatively also entering the airlock despite that seeming like thriller 101 on how to get trapped inside a room, but--yeah, not getting too far in just in case. also, body?]

You think the blood led here for a reason? [right, also] --Is she okay?

[ Thankfully, the door doesn't slam on them or anything causing them to be jettisoned into the void of space. They're fine. It's fine.

The girl on the floor isn't really fine, though. Sorry Totty, Minako Arisato isn't okay. She is dead. She's lying on top of and nearby a heavy amount of blood. Upon closer inspection, it's easy to see that her black blouse has been stained with blood. There's multiple holes all over the blouse of different sizes. Jack's familiar enough with guns to notice one rather large hole right in the middle of her chest, gaping open so wide to show the wound underneath — several small, deep holes clustered together.

Other than that, the wounds on her body are much smaller and more slim, probably from some sort of sharp weapon, on random places across her body.

The most grotesque part of her corpse, however, is her hand. It's barely hanging on, just by a few tendons and musculature, with a similar wound as the one around her chest. ]

[ There's at least no further rude comment than that, since Jack is more focused on checking out those wounds once he sees them. As usual, he's pretty indifferent to the fact that he's dealing with a corpse here, so he's going to check out the wound on her chest first. Is there anything in those smaller holes or that he would immediately notice upon closer inspection of that area? ]

[He's giving Minako an appraising look…but he doesn't look too saddened. Sorry Minako. He's sidestepping some of the blood to crouch down and examine some of the smaller wounds.]

…stab wounds too. Somebody really, really wanted to make sure she'd stay down. [He can't help but stare at her hand, eyebrow lifted and trying not to react too much.] There's no way her own Evoker could've caused this could it? [Someone wasn't paying attention when Messiah was summoned a while ago in-trial.]

I dunno, was that that...weird thing that appeared that one trial?

Wh-what happened to her? How long has it been?

[because he's not getting closer to check out the variety of stab and shotgun or whatever wounds, thanks but no thanks. honestly, what the fuck, his neighbors keep dying and nobody seems to care

But instead of just cowering (for once), he starts looking around...what happens to the blood trail they'd followed into the room, does it look like there was a struggle in here, or did it just disappear, or what?]

[ Jack will be able to see some pellets lodged in pretty far in those holes. Jack knows his way around a gun well enough to recognize them as shotgun pellets.

There's nothing too remarkable about the stab wounds. There's quite a few of them, though.

As for Totty, he'll notice that there is another blood splatter a few feet away. There are drops connecting this blood splatter to the trail outside the door. He might note that the blood pool Minako is lying in is completely disconnected from the trail. ]

[ Yeah, Jack is definitely just going to... pluck one of those pellets out... I'm sorry he's disgusting. ]

Well, well, looks like someone got a hold of a shotgun, at least.

[ He'll hold up that pellet in case anyone wants to take a look, but if not (why would you?), he'll just set that aside and look at her hand next. Are there any pellets embedded there too? ]

Man-- Shotguns make the grossest wounds. [ Yet, he definitely has a laugh in his voice when he says "grossest." ]

[I'm sorry Luke's useless because he's still just curiously looking over everything. Curious isn't a good word to use, but hey.] You're our resident gun expert. [He remembers Jack's the one who helped during Carta's trial.] There's no way to tell how close-range the shots were is there?

[He doesn't know what to do about the pellet and he shakes his head to look at Totty.] What'd you find?

More blood.

[the reply is for luke, since he can only frown at jack's glee at shotgun wounds, can't we at least pretend to respect bodies every once in a while? in the meantime, todomatsu takes a closer look at the bonus blood, looking for any other details... for example, is it splattered in one direction, versus just dripped straight down to the ground, is it dark and drying or still fresh, etc.]

...How do you think she got over there when the blood trail from outside stops over here?

[ There's no pellets on her wrist or hand (whatever struck them went clean through), but it's pretty clear that whatever caused it was the same thing that caused the shotgun wounds on her chest. Clutched in her hand, though, is a bloodied knife.

As for Luke's question, Jack would be able to tell that the wounds are close enough to determine that Minako was shot point blank.

the splatter is in one place, then the droplet trail leads out the door. If Totty follows it, he'll notice that the door and partially on the wall, a little more than five feet off the ground, is spray from the shotgun. There's also a light smattering of blood, but nothing that looks too serious. There's also shells from the shotgun on the floor. ]

Nahhh, this one's pretty obvious. Point blank, right in the chest aaand...

[ He trails off as he looks at the knife, then pauses before he leans closer to look at it, though he doesn't touch it just yet. Anything of interest about it other than it being a bloody knife? ]

Well, looks like she at least fought back. But she got shot here too. No pellets, though.

[ Once he's done looking at the knife, he'll look up towards Luke and Totty. ]

See any more of those pellets? If not, she probably got shot somewhere else other than here.

[Hm. He's also going to look at the knife. Does it look like she actually was fighting with it, or is it her hand like it's just planted there? Look it's possible to plant evidence okay. He makes a face at the notion of a point-blank shot, allowing his eyes to look from the body to the blood.]

Well this is gonna narrow down our suspects a bit. And it's not like she's that big. Wouldn't be hard to move her body. [He nods to the wall though.] Where does that trail go?

The trail goes to where somebody got shot. Look at the door, there's bullets and blood and everything.

[he takes a look at the shells--how many are there? is there anything else as he continues following the trail out of the room? or just the trail of blood they'd followed here?]

[ The knife isn't in the hand that's barely hanging on. It's in her other one. The better half, perhaps. It's impossible to tell if the knife was planted or if she actually used it, though — all Luke will be able to discern is that her hand is wrapped around it, as if she was holding it.

There's a few pellets on the ground, but it'll take some searching to find all of them. As for shells, there are two, meaning that two rounds were fired. The trail of blood leads directly to the zero g room. ]

[ Jack stands up, since he's satisfied with his investigation so far. He'll leave the rest for tomorrow, since, well. This one is pretty straightfoward in terms of what's plainly in front of him. As always, he's sure more bullshit will pop up, but for now? A shotgun to the chest, that makes sense. ]

Sweet. At least this isn't some crazy, weird, bullshit setup. This murderer gets an extra point for that.

[ He shrugs as he starts to take a look at the door, but it's only brief before he'll start to head out. ]

Well, unless it totally is after all. Which I would believe. Minus two for that.

[He tilts his head, still looking at the knife in Minako's hand and the stab wounds littering her body before he also stands up.]

Wait 'til tomorrow, man. It'll be worse. [#helpful. He's looking at the trail of blood and gesturing for Totty to follow.] All in favor of following the blood trail anyway? You know. To be thorough.

[...still too early for this shit, come on.]

Yeah... Better to check it out now than wait until the middle of the trial. Looks like it goes to the Zero G room.
