WEEK 8

the pygmalion. . .

ONLINE

CAPTAIN'S LOG:
WEEK (8)

monday - thursday

(23) survivors

Sunday's trial was only mere hours ago, but you find yourself faced with a new week on The Pygmalion. When you awaken, you will find the ship restored to its previous state, all areas interfered with during the murder looking mostly the same as they did before. Along with this, it appears there are new areas opened on the ship. It seems you have more exploring to do. The robot in the cafeteria has prepared another breakfast of various foods.

(OOC: Please submit your murder proposals by 9 PM EST Tuesday.)

chiseler: (man he never had a chance)

[He wouldn't believe her. Well all right, that's not true, he might. Sometimes Luke realizes his life is predetermined no matter what but being here has reminded him his choices do have meaning. It's forced him to be more careful with his choices despite people on the ship not having a clue. He thinks nothing of his behavior, more focused on the fact that it's been literal years since he's had a cupcake and that this will probably be one of the last times this happens. So. He'll humor this conversation.]

Surprised you remember that. That was a while ago now. [But...no. Those aren't words a fifteen year old girl should be saying and he looks briefly startled as he allows that to settle in his head. He's staring at her briefly and he's not stupid. He knows there are reasons for these words even if he can't quite pinpoint when, precisely, Yuno changed. Maybe it doesn't matter. He slowly nods in agreement, but he doesn't verbalize it. Verbalizing it makes it a reality, after all. So instead he snorts, taking another fingerful of frosting while eyeing the macarons, too.]

I'm not that old, you know. [This is mumbled around his finger and he stops again.] I'm not even that much older than you. But do me a favor? Don't let too much age you around here. Not sure it's worth it. [Ah yes easier said than done.]

I don't have any reason to forget it. [ fate and god, things that are all too personal to her. yuno doesn't meet luke's gaze. instead, she cheerfully returns to placing down the newest batch of cat shaped cookies, and there's a smile on her face that is as artificially sweet as the frosting. his words sit on her shoulders hard, a boulder-like weight that sure she won't be able to carry.

still, it takes a moment for her to respond as she considers it. she could accept, but let it be a lie. she could decline, and let it be the truth. the first is prettier, cleaner, she knows: luke might not believe her, but it's an easier pill to swallow. the latter gives her chills, but she gets the inkling he's used to teenagers lying. she lets out a thoughtful hum. ]

I can't... make a promise that isn't in my control. Before you even noticed it, you'd changed. It's the same for me. It always has been. [ tends to happen when your canon is LITERALLY ALREADY A MURDERGAME, goddamn it ] I'm not sure why it'd be a concern of your's... hmmm. Maybe you like kids, actually?
chiseler: (tell me)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-29 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's been said that liars always recognize liars. He would tell, perhaps, but not for the reasons she might think. Of course he's used to teenagers lying, but he's used to telling his own lies, too. If her answer comes as a surprise to him he doesn't say so.]

That's the thing I hate the most about this place. The lack of control. [His life had been chaotic in the end and out of his control, and despite the fact it was mostly his own fault, he's aware enough that the only reason Olympus was saved was he was able to break someone else's control.] Guess I should say it's what I hate in general. Kind of a bummer we can't control the change ourselves all the time.

[He shrugs, finally taking a bite of the cupcake to mull over that.] I worked as a counselor at a camp for five years of my life, what makes you think I like kids? [Even as he says it, there's something in his expression that's a dead giveaway. Kids are always his weak point.]

[ there's a light laugh at his words, because it seems so obvious to her. maybe luke's taken a fondness to yuno, she doesn't know, but it seems like there's a manner about him that just gravitates towards kids. it must be the fact he acts like an overgrown kid, she thinks with a grin. ]

You told me not to let this age me too much! You must want me to enjoy my youth, right? [ she does wonder if there's a nugget of truth in that, though. it's left unsaid, and yuno places a hand over her mouth to hide the laughter. it's a very poor attempt. ]

Don't worry. I'm sure that we can seize control again, though I can't exactly control how quickly I grow up.
chiseler: (breaking in a sweat)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-31 09:13 am (UTC)(link)
[It's a sort of relief, really. Even if it's not true, even if it's an act he can accept this because it's better than the doom and gloom that's going to come. He shrugs playfully in return.]

I'm just saying as somebody who's seen what happens to kids who don't get to be a kid, enjoying your youth is way better. [He gives her another considering look.] Besides, I think you've already captured a certain kind of maturity some kids your age don't have. You're already letting your control slip.

[ it's a look that yuno isn't given much. most people regard her with a smile (or a look of fear), but luke's at her like he's trying to size her up. it almost puts her on edge, but... yuno's not going to give in.

also he's eating her cupcakes. he can't be that bad. ]

Well, Mom and Dad have been overseas for business for around two years. I've gotten used to taking care of things on my own, so maybe it just shows.
