[Despite the fact they'd spent a week handcuffed together, he and Grell haven't spoken very much since then. At least not outside of trials. If he's surprised to find her down in the archives on this day he doesn't show it. He watches her for a moment as she stares at one of the shelves, tilting his head before approaching.]

I don't think that's how reading works. [Hi Grell.]

I don't spend as much time reading as you'd think. [He can't help but lean into the shelf.] So what is it that you see with this one?

I think you're a lady with high hopes and high ambitions. [But he's intrigued.] We're starting to lack people who know any sort of medical knowledge around here, aren't we? You really think it's something we can pick up from books down here?

Not enough to qualify us as fully fledged doctors, but enough to keep people alive, and that's what matters more than anything.

[if books could tell her how to set a dislocated shoulder, how to deal with a broken leg, how to know when stitches needed to come out, it would be enough to get by.]

[Hm. She has a point and he seems contemplative for a brief moment.]

Think you could use an extra pair of eyes? I've heard mine are in pretty good shape.
