saturday TRIAL DAY ONE (29) survivors At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort. The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up. The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body. To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it. Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

[ she speaks with a quiet sort of understanding to her voice. yes, she knows about imperfect fathers. still, jack tries. yuno's smile falls, slipping away as memories, unpleasant and pleasant, are recalled. ]

A father who tries is better than one who doesn't try at all.

[ Yeah, it's not hard to see the daddy issues here from a mile away, and that does briefly give Jack pause. His brow knits together briefly, but he also seems to decide how to react quickly enough, which is to smile fairly warmly for Jack. ]

Hey- But, y'know, parenting? Ppppprobably not super relevant here. So, y'know, considering I look kind of like i"m up shit creek because of a series of weird coincidences that have to do with Rhys being an asshole? I will go all out once we've got this taken care of. Hell, I might make you two drinks.

You're not up sh-- shoot creek. [ look, she's trying. it's hard. ] I won't let them vote for you. [ not that a child's word likely looks like much here, but. ]

...As long as there isn't a lot of vodka in it, I think two sounds good.

[ LISTEN... shut up ]

[ Yuno correcting herself gets him to laugh, and he crosses his arms more casually as he nods. ]

Yeah? Well-- Y'know, I appreciate that, Yuno. [ Not even a "kiddo" this time ] Probably not a good thing, but, I'm glad at least someone gets that this isn't my style at all.

[ you have to forgive her, jack, because she brightens up at the use of her name. it feels so official. ]

Of course it's not! You're more likely to shoot someone in here right now.

[ a cheerful statement, because. well, it's true. jack's not the type to hide his misdeeds, is he? he was willing to gun down someone just a few weeks ago... this week is no different, isn't it? ]

The killer is someone who wants to hide it. That's not you. You're not afraid to take action.

[ Anyone else, anyone sane would probably be insulted by this, but no... No, not Handsome Jack. He grins slightly, since Yuno's cheer actually improves his mood too. In certain ways, he's simple. ]

You're goddamn right. Also why this sucks, because if anyone should be a suspect here? Definitely Rhys. Just sayin'.

Let's vote for Rhys!

[ even if rhys isn't on the suspect list and thus cannot be voted for?? fuck da rulez tho ]

[ That actually gets him to laugh more, though he shakes his head. ]

Y'know, I wish, but don't think Al would be real happy with us if we tried. Besides, all things considered? Would prefer to actually catch the real guy instead of throwing away my vote.

[ He shrugs ]

But I can still at least vote for him, y'know, in my heart, or something.

The next time he's on the suspect list, I'm definitely voting for him. He stabbed you, so he's a danger to everyone. [ she sounds really sure of this... which, to be fair. she is partially right: rhys did stab jack! ]

But for now, it really is about getting the guy who killed Mr. Hancock. I didn't know Light, but um. [ .....he fondled statue dong? that's a thing he did, so. ] Maybe it's the same person who killed them.

[ He nods, since he's definitely not going to object to Yuno's plan here. Even before his doxxing, he agree, Rhys is a dangerous asshole! ]

I mean, even if they didn't intended to kill Hancock, yeah, gonna say it's the same person? Or if not, hell, that means we have two huge assholes on the list, I guess.
