WEEK 6 - Trial

the pygmalion. . .

ONLINE

CAPTAIN'S LOG:
WEEK (6)

saturday TRIAL DAY ONE

(29) survivors

At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort.

The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up.

The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body.

To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it.

Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

Art Supply Room

[That room no one else checked, in other words.]

The cotton gloves that can be found with the other tools were missing when Arbok and I arrived in the morning. He thinks he's an art critic all of a sudden. We were alone in the room when the body discovery announcements went off, so they were taken before then.

Many of the statues were also defaced with mustaches painted on them. Someone has too much time on their hands.

[Of course, that person was Jessie herself, so try not to take the second half of her findings too seriously.]

8PM — Had dinner. Was pretty lackluster, so maybe I'll start cooking my own dinners too? Christ. You get real tired of the processed space food thing.

9PM — After dinner drinks in the lounge, since what else are you going to do? You know who goes back to their room at 9? Old people. So. Drinks it was. I make a mean lemon drop, if you're into that kinda thing. Also a Hyperion Highballer, but that one is a trade secret. I'm actually not kidding on that one.

10PM — Went back to my room. Working on an app for the datapads. It's gonna be great. Think a chat app but with pictures of yourself. I think I'll call it SnapChat.
[ don't tell him ] Cursed at it a lot. You want to hear a rant? Ask me about mutexes. (Don't ask me about mutexes.)

11PM — Yeah, I was having a good time on my own, working on SnapChat, yadda yadda yadda, and guess who shows up to my boy? Course it's none other than Rhys, because, seriously, who do you think I'm going to open the door for on freakin Thursday night. Turns out, that was a bad move, because someone went batshit crazy because of some bad dreams. Boo fucking hoo Rhys. He wanted to steal my mask for some goddamn reason, and you know, the real kicker here, he actually managed to do it because he stabbed me.

So, Rhys? You've got until the end of this trial to give me back the mask. I don't care how you manage that when we're all locked in here together, but work some magic. Otherwise? Actually, you know, nevermind. I'm not going to spoil the surprise.

11:30 PM — I dunno, he ran away like a bitch around this time. Considered pursuing him for a second, decided against it. On account of my fresh new stab wound. Stopped the bleeding, but I pretty much passed out after that. Not the first time I've been stabbed, but, you know, it still sucks every time. Just saying.

9AMish — Woke up around this time. Felt like shit. I never sleep in this late. Still took a shower and--

9:30AM — Headed to the gym because, I don't know, I'm an idiot? Thought I could at least do some light weight-lifting. Something. Shut up.

9:45AM — Yeah that one went about as well as you'd expect, so opened that right back up and headed off to the med bay to go actually patch myself up.

10AM — Showed up just in time for some asshole to throw a goddamn corpse party.

[ okay he needs to talk to you on the dl here, alice. ]

Heeeey, Alice. Need a favor. Man to... AI? Cyborg to AI? Look, I'm part metal. You're part metal. Do a guy a favor, alright?

[ get to the point, rhys ]

I need to... go. I didn't do anything, you know that. I didn't kill anyone or anything dumb like that so can I... leave? Please?

GARDEN

[personal profile] hatslinger 2016-07-16 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[ fiona's taken it upon herself to fill this one in, because elizabeth is probably not in any state to do it and rhys.. is trying not to die. ]

Looks like someone had a little stroll through the garden. There was a very subtle trail in the dirt, some grass upturned. Looks like shit, honestly. Don't know how significant it is. The trail eventually tapered off.

[DOES THIS MEAN HANCOCK WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR DILDOS???]

So Monsieur Hancock was the one providing us with items?

[She looks at the suspects list the second she's shuffled into the conference room and for a moment, there's something sharp in her empty stare—and it's gone as soon as it came, and her eyes are unfocused and blank again and when she sits down as far away from the body as she can get without having to face it, she wraps her arms around herself and curls into the chair like she means to make herself small enough there to disappear. She won't look at anyone, won't so much as lift her head at all, but she's listening. It isn't easy to tell, but she's listening.

i'm a suspect for my brother's death and everything is horrible ama

[ alice, this is NOT THE TIME TO SASS HIM. ]

Why would I be joking? I could put in my vote early if you want. Then just, bam, gone and I can go take care of what I need to.

[ hey when did yuno manage to get right behind rhys thats weird hahaha ]

You absolutely can't do that, Mr. Rhys

[ guess who read jacks alibi ]

[ When everyone had come into the conference room today, anyone that took even a glance at Jack would notice that he's looking quite different. After all, that strange mask of his is gone, so everyone will be able to see what Jack's real face looks like, just as his profile card describes. So it's probably no surprise why he wears the mask at all.

He writes his alibi in a hurry, hence its long, meandering story, but he's sitting in his chair.

Absolutely staring daggers at Rhys. ]

Yeaaaah, so, someone has got some explaining to do, because frankly? This is bullshit.

[ He crosses his arms pretty tightly, but he's actually speaking more to everyone despite the fact that he's staring Rhys down. ]

So, go on, shoot. You got questions, I've got answers. Because, yeah, my alibi is legit "couldn't do it, got stabbed."

....One of the causalities....

[so it could have been Light or Hancock. WHO IS MORE LIKELY TO DICKS?]

[the answer is both]

Will we find out about the other roles? [assuming there are more]

You stabbed a man who right now looks more than ready to snap your neck the moment you turn around.

That was very dumb, I'd say.

[Shelley is supportive!]

Why wouldn't you go to the medbay immediately after getting stabbed? And what did he stab you with? [ Maybe this can just be Rhys' trial, can we execute him. ]

[she has no idea what an appropriate way to react to any of this is, so she'll just dive in to the questions.]
