Aren't you hilarious. [It's a dry tone, but he's still blinking a little.] …s'long as they're still blue, I don't have to worry too much. [With that out of the way he's examining Adam again, trying to grin a bit.] You still with us or did you check out for the rest of the week?
no subject
What's that supposed to mean? I think the person in the vent is the one trying to check out.
no subject
Oh yeah? Then what are you looking for right now?
no subject
The same thing is happening to me as it is to you. I thought—maybe it would be better if we weren't alone.
no subject
Yeah. Guess that's what partners do, right? [Sigh. The vent is so comfortable...he's fairly reluctant to leave, but:] You coming up or am I coming down? Because if it's the latter I'm not staying out in the open for long.
no subject
What do you think's gonna happen out here?
no subject
With you? Not much. [He can still take on Adam if he absolutely had to.] With other people? Maybe something but still not much. But if a bunch of us aren't sleeping, it's paranoia week all over again. I'm not taking my chances of looking like someone's delusions or getting in the way of their sleepwalking or fits or whatever. [And he mumbles under his breath:] I didn't die to go through that again. [And out of the vent he jumps, landing on his feet in a crouch next to Adam before he calmly begins to pack everything up.]
no subject
[ He understands that, but he's also pretty sure everyone's been holing up in different places. ] I'll protect you. [ Said with some irony, but if he's protected he'll at least make sure no one he likes dies. ] I bet I can even take a bullet for you. Anyway, I'll go where you want as long as it's not in a vent.
no subject
...probably not. I barely fit. [Once everything's packed up in the pillow case he gets to his feet, looking around the storage room again.] How much do you wanna bet that the next murder weapon isn't a gun? Let's not test the theory just in case it doesn't work. [He frowns in thought.] If I go back to my room now, I'd have to get kicked out really early in the morning to follow their 12 hour rule. Could always go back to the viewport but that's still pretty wide open, too. [...hm.] Wanna head down to the archives? May as well see if there's anything useful down there I missed.
no subject
Have you eaten anything else today? [ As he's munching on the Ritz still. Not offering any. ] We could order a pizza and camp out until late. We might be able to avoid the investigation altogether.
no subject
no subject
I'm not really excited about the idea of finding a dead body anymore, no.

He eyes the pink compact for a second, figuring that's the mirror he was talking about. At least he has no shame. ] You haven't shown me anything, which I think is an unfair secret to keep. I'm sleeping over in your room tonight. [ To root through his stuff. ]
no subject
It's sort of funny how you think there's actually room in my room for another person. [It's not a "no", but just sayin'. Also don't be nosy, Adam, that's Luke's job.]

Once they get to the archives, he goes to where he last left off reading. ] What did you find in here? All I got were memes.
no subject
[And into the archives, Luke's following and holding that pillowcase like he's Santa Claus and Backbiter's on his back.] Why is everybody finding memes? [A sigh.] I started reading about history if you really wanna know. Wars and stuff like that. They say that history repeats itself, so I'm hoping to maybe get an understanding of what might've inspired all of this.
no subject
[ Now he's going to look for more history. After a moment, he glances over at Luke. ] You can put that down, you know.
no subject
[He blinks, obediently putting down the pillowcase but keeping Backbiter with him. It's enough of a show of how exhausted he is that he actually listens to part of that request.] Marinette kept reminding me that this whole thing's an experiment, but I still feel like there's more to it.
no subject
Do you think so? I feel like people have been getting closer the longer we're here. Sure, there are some people who will never get along, but it's human nature to seek out others. What makes you think there's more?
no subject
Past experience? Realistic thinking? Take your pick. [He makes a face as he picks up a book, thumbing through it without really reading.] No matter how close people are, there's always going to be something that will change their minds. And if it were an experiment...it means there's already a set pattern and we haven't figured it out yet. Doesn't it?
no subject
Beyond the pattern of weekly murders? There's a pretty strict structure going on. We can only access certain rooms, we have rules, we have the same amount of time between murders and trials, similar incentives to kill every week. There might also be a control group, depending on what the third parties are. It isn't complete chaos.
no subject
At least chaos was easier for me to deal with. In case you haven't noticed I'm not that great with analytical thinking. [Which is also a lie, seeing how he can be sort of useful during trials.] I know we keep talking about the third parties but...what does that really mean? Just somebody who might be running around telling people where other people are? Spies? Whoever's killing people who abstain from voting?
[Yeah, he's mostly spinning in circles with a bunch of thoughts. But it's better than dwelling on the motive.]
