In fact, they're one of my family symbols. But I think the design work could have been much better. No, I won't claim I don't want it, but certainly not to this degree. Hardly enough to pay coin for it.

So you're totally cool if the whole thing gets destroyed. If it's just a family symbol or heirloom or whatever...is there more where that came from?

Just don't let the AI hear you say that. The last thing we need is her raising the stakes again just because she failed to get us to kill someone this time.

Oh, I've no doubt she'll convince someone. This wouldn't be a motive if it wasn't bound to tempt someone.

[Just kidding, he loves it. A small smile.]
No, I don't imagine there is. Personally, I don't trust these motives in the slightest, and I wouldn't dream that if I played by their rules, I'd actually be given what I've been promised. But that's rather the point of temptation, isn't it? Everyone has something they can't possibly refuse, no matter how unlikely or how wrong.

(Truthfully he's thinking of people like Elizabeth, Adrien, Marinette, Todomatsu...the ones who appear mostly harmless.)]
Can't say I trust them either. Kinda makes you wonder why after, what, a month on this ship, people are still giving into these things. We can trust the AI about as far as we can throw her. If she can't deliver on her promises how do we prevent people from continuing to fall for it? [And a sweeping gesture to the items in the room.] That's why I'm here.

It's not an altogether terrible idea. At least perhaps we'll have a sense of who appears particularly concerned with their motive.

[Be...more...reassuring, Luke.] Not worth it. Until I come up with a better idea, this is it.
