About which part? The clashing? Not particularly. Most of my capes go well with gold jewelry, in fact.

But I'm guessing snakes aren't really your aesthetic. [Somehow it just...doesn't seem right. The thing is pretty gaudy.] At least we won't have to worry about you actually taking up this week's motive. I'm starting to think we're actually outsmarting the AI.

[Um. Snakes are 100% his aesthetic. His outfit is covered in snake motifs. Between that and the facial hair he's got that whole Slytherin vibe going in spades.]

In fact, they're one of my family symbols. But I think the design work could have been much better. No, I won't claim I don't want it, but certainly not to this degree. Hardly enough to pay coin for it.

[He wrinkles his nose in thought, but only because Dorian's not the only one. George and Martha are Hermes' companions on the caduceus and though he's never really met them personally, he knows that much.]

So you're totally cool if the whole thing gets destroyed. If it's just a family symbol or heirloom or whatever...is there more where that came from?
tevinteriscoming: (serious. 8)

[personal profile] tevinteriscoming 2016-07-07 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't say I'm totally cool with it. It is irreplaceable. I just don't intend to kill for it. Or die for it.
chiseler: (man I never had a chance)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-07 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
[One of the things he's learned thus far about Dorian is that it's hard to really pinpoint what is and isn't valuable to him. Granted it'd probably help if...he...asked...but this is more interesting to him.]

Just don't let the AI hear you say that. The last thing we need is her raising the stakes again just because she failed to get us to kill someone this time.
tevinteriscoming: (concerned. 4)

[personal profile] tevinteriscoming 2016-07-07 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
[Yes, he can't turn down the opportunity to joke about his feelings, but he wouldn't exactly hold out if asked directly.]

Oh, I've no doubt she'll convince someone. This wouldn't be a motive if it wasn't bound to tempt someone.
chiseler: (and you're feeling so left behind)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-07 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
You seem like one of the smarter people on this ship. Let me ask you something. Think there's anybody on this ship that can resist every single motive Alice throws at us?
tevinteriscoming: (serious. 8)

[personal profile] tevinteriscoming 2016-07-07 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
You don't need to flatter me to get my opinions, you know.

[Just kidding, he loves it. A small smile.]

No, I don't imagine there is. Personally, I don't trust these motives in the slightest, and I wouldn't dream that if I played by their rules, I'd actually be given what I've been promised. But that's rather the point of temptation, isn't it? Everyone has something they can't possibly refuse, no matter how unlikely or how wrong.
chiseler: (see them running for their lives)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-07 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
[Ah, yes, the quickest way to earn something in his favor. If it means occasionally sucking up, he'll do it for now. It's a point he's considered himself and something he's mulled over while sitting here staring at the cases and occasionally chatting with people who come in to view their items. Everyone has something, but enough to kill?

(Truthfully he's thinking of people like Elizabeth, Adrien, Marinette, Todomatsu...the ones who appear mostly harmless.)]

Can't say I trust them either. Kinda makes you wonder why after, what, a month on this ship, people are still giving into these things. We can trust the AI about as far as we can throw her. If she can't deliver on her promises how do we prevent people from continuing to fall for it? [And a sweeping gesture to the items in the room.] That's why I'm here.
tevinteriscoming: (banter. 8)

[personal profile] tevinteriscoming 2016-07-08 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Oh? Guarding, are we?

It's not an altogether terrible idea. At least perhaps we'll have a sense of who appears particularly concerned with their motive.
chiseler: (now dance fucker dance)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-08 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. [See, at least someone gets his weird logic.] If we have someone guarding after the items and getting an idea of how attached all of us are to them, it gives us a direction to go if someone tries to kill somebody else for them. You're not gonna kill for yours. I probably won't kill for mine.

[Be...more...reassuring, Luke.] Not worth it. Until I come up with a better idea, this is it.
tevinteriscoming: (judging. 2)

[personal profile] tevinteriscoming 2016-07-08 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
Though you realize I could be lying. It could be terribly important to me, and I'm only being insouciant for appearances sake.
chiseler: (life's a gas and it's running out)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-08 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think so. [Nice try.] You seem like the kind of guy to be more invested in other things than some cheap-looking necklace. But maybe you'll prove me wrong. Wouldn't that be a disappointment...
