[ It's been a while because he's been in here ever since it opened. ]

Oh, hey. [ He looks a little tired. ] Not exactly, but even the memes have given me a better idea of what we're looking at here. Combined with the motives they give us, this has to be a way of studying human psychology. Sometimes by memes.
tacklefordwhimsy: This year sucked (Out with the old)

That'd explain the motives. All of them so far seem suited to test our reactions to certain threats. Maybe those who are psychologically stronger will be the ones to survive to the end?

By resisting the motives? So this whole murder project would really be a ploy to see who doesn't give in?

[ He's just going to set whatever datapad he's reading down and sigh. ] That's stupid.
tacklefordwhimsy: No satanic weddings for my sister (I literally crashed a car on you)

[personal profile] tacklefordwhimsy 2016-07-05 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
[Shrug. Don't shoot the person who theorizes!]

It could be that! Besides I'm sure the reason for this project will be'stupid no matter what. Nothing that involves people killing each other can be good.

No, yeah, that's what I meant. It's so stupid it's believable. [ He taps his pen for taking notes on his chin. ]

I wonder if trying to convince the AI otherwise would do something. Or maybe it's too programmed to not believe us.

If I wasn't able to convince it to change its music playlists and horrid music tastes, I doubt we'll be able to change its mind about something even more important than that.

There has to be something in its programming... [ But Adam knows nothing about AI or robots, so it's a pointless train of thought. ]

Sorry, anyway, were you looking for something specific? I could probably point you in the direction.
tacklefordwhimsy: These wounds are part of the job (I'm a pro at journalism)

Hmmmm...

[Shelley looks around]

Any clues on what kind of world we're at? I know we're in space but there must be something telling what's happening back on Earth. I haven't really checked a lot of this stuff yet, so...got anything like that?

[ He'll look at his notes. ] The year is 2956, presumably. The only record of history is, uh. The compendium. Of memes.

Are you familiar with them? I'm trying to figure something out, actually.
tacklefordwhimsy: That's what you get for getting him laid (I recommend you seek protection)

[personal profile] tacklefordwhimsy 2016-07-05 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Memes? Sure! I have been a denizen of the internet for quite a while. Ask away!

[But too bad she won't know about anything from after 2009!]

Ever heard of the Murder Squash Song? You know, squash one, squash two, squash three... [ He's not gonna do the whole thing. That should be enough. ]

[Shelley thinks for a moment]

Nope, never heard of it. Is it significant in some way?

[personal profile] antietam 2016-07-06 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
[ To him, yes. ] No, not really. But Jason is familiar with memes and never heard of it either. I'm theorizing that it's only popular where I come from.

But then this compendium would include things from various times and universes, not just the earth of this place. Do you see what I mean?
tacklefordwhimsy: Fear my name (I'm the queen of limbo)

[personal profile] tacklefordwhimsy 2016-07-06 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Really?

[Huh. That's interesting]

I see! That's...kind of unsettling...has anyone else recognized memes or any other information? There could be something useful somewhere! Maybe.

[personal profile] antietam 2016-07-06 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure. We might be able to put up a survey of how many people know memes here... [ For science? ]

We could also go through the book and see if there's anything else that might be specific to where we come from.
