[Shrug. Don't shoot the person who theorizes!]

It could be that! Besides I'm sure the reason for this project will be'stupid no matter what. Nothing that involves people killing each other can be good.

No, yeah, that's what I meant. It's so stupid it's believable. [ He taps his pen for taking notes on his chin. ]

I wonder if trying to convince the AI otherwise would do something. Or maybe it's too programmed to not believe us.
tacklefordwhimsy: This year sucked (Out with the old)

If I wasn't able to convince it to change its music playlists and horrid music tastes, I doubt we'll be able to change its mind about something even more important than that.

There has to be something in its programming... [ But Adam knows nothing about AI or robots, so it's a pointless train of thought. ]

Sorry, anyway, were you looking for something specific? I could probably point you in the direction.
tacklefordwhimsy: These wounds are part of the job (I'm a pro at journalism)

Hmmmm...

[Shelley looks around]

Any clues on what kind of world we're at? I know we're in space but there must be something telling what's happening back on Earth. I haven't really checked a lot of this stuff yet, so...got anything like that?

[ He'll look at his notes. ] The year is 2956, presumably. The only record of history is, uh. The compendium. Of memes.

Are you familiar with them? I'm trying to figure something out, actually.
tacklefordwhimsy: That's what you get for getting him laid (I recommend you seek protection)

[personal profile] tacklefordwhimsy 2016-07-05 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Memes? Sure! I have been a denizen of the internet for quite a while. Ask away!

[But too bad she won't know about anything from after 2009!]

Ever heard of the Murder Squash Song? You know, squash one, squash two, squash three... [ He's not gonna do the whole thing. That should be enough. ]

[Shelley thinks for a moment]

Nope, never heard of it. Is it significant in some way?

[ To him, yes. ] No, not really. But Jason is familiar with memes and never heard of it either. I'm theorizing that it's only popular where I come from.

But then this compendium would include things from various times and universes, not just the earth of this place. Do you see what I mean?
tacklefordwhimsy: Fear my name (I'm the queen of limbo)

[personal profile] tacklefordwhimsy 2016-07-06 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Really?

[Huh. That's interesting]

I see! That's...kind of unsettling...has anyone else recognized memes or any other information? There could be something useful somewhere! Maybe.

I'm not sure. We might be able to put up a survey of how many people know memes here... [ For science? ]

We could also go through the book and see if there's anything else that might be specific to where we come from.
