Arumat. [ His eyebrows raise, although momentarily, approaching closer. ] What brings you here?
no subject
However, he only turns around when he's actually addressed. }
Deciding to take a turn at making note of inventory, and relieving a headache from dealing with that AI.
What about you? { Beat. } Need anything?
no subject
[ He trails off, his gaze settling on the bottle before glancing away and adjusting his frames. ]
But since you're here, there was something I wanted to talk about. Do you have a moment?
no subject
I have more than a moment. Out with it, lad.
no subject
[ his eyes flash hint of somber, hesitating. he isn't one to do so normally, but a lot had happened. ]
The past few days. ... I wanted to thank you.
no subject
{ Yet, maybe it wasn't just that. Because, while usually Arumat would have left it at that, the whole trial and its circumstances had been momentous in of itself -- if only because of everything that had occurred within it.
For once, Arumat is considering his next words carefully, because he does wish to say a little more, but less terse, and something close to heartfelt (but none of that mushy crap). }
... And I would do it all over again without a single regret.
no subject
[ Though Machias tries to stifle it with his hand, he still lets loose a slightly sheepish chuckle. It's unusual to hear Arumat speaking like this, but not unwelcome. ]
Had you not been there, I doubt I'd be standing here. Not only that, but you stood up and worked to clear my name... even though you too were also under equal suspicion. [ He's going to leave it at that, easing on the cheese but still pausing a moment in thought. ] I owe you one.
no subject
{ He notices that small laugh there; but he cannot fault Machias for it. Especially since, it's not a bad thing to be lighthearted from time to time, even moreso in recent events. }
You can start paying me back by making sure you're always present for our routine. That said, I'm not one to sit around twiddling my thumbs { Or sitting around with his thumb stuck up his ass. } and I couldn't care less if anyone took issue with it if I could do something to assist instead of nothing.
{ He had little care of his ultimate fate in the end, but if he just sat there on his ass while his fri-- Machias' life was at risk, then he could have risked endangering the boy's life again. Not to mention, on a little note but in a more practical sense, he'd rather not be accused of inaction. }
no subject
[ Not that Machias has ever complained much - only sometimes because really Arumat. You're going to kill him. ]
That wasn't all I wanted to discuss, however. [ He stops for a moment, his breath tensing. ] ... My shotgun. It's missing.
no subject
{ Hey, he'll go easy on you, Machias, and maybe he's about to say something else, until finally what the younger male manages to say something that brings a sudden silence over Arumat. Like, he just falls dead silent for a moment. }
...
{ Just give him a second. }
no subject
[ ... don't fall silent like that so suddenly now you've got him even more concerned! a-ahem. ]
I- I realize this is sudden, but listen. This really is a serious--

.....
{ His gaze snapped back to Machias. It almost may feel like despite the direction of his gaze, that he was looking past the boy. }
If I figure out who did it, I'll rip them apart!
2/2
When did you notice it was missing?
1/2
Calm down! It's clear someone took it, but we don't know why or what for—!
[ There's probably some irony in him saying this. Still. ]

And... last night. It must have been not too long after everyone finished voting — that's the last time I saw it. [ shaking his head. ] I did ask Alice, but I'm sure you can guess what her answer basically amounted to.
no subject
Also, wow, you shout all the time Machias. }
Maybe we should start working on a way to reprogram that AI. It could prove to be fruitful.
{ He's half-serious. But either way... }
You realize what this means now, don't you?
no subject
[ He's sounding deadpan enough to give Jusis a run for his— No, let's absolutely not bring Jusis into this. Machias raises a tired hand to his face, fingers resting over the bridge of his glasses. ]
Orbal technology has come a long way but even that's still beyond our level. [ beat. ] Along with just about everything else in here.
no subject
{ Arumat has now appointed himself as Machias' teacher for the things Machias has no understanding of. Your welcome. }
Not only that, but you can no longer be alone in your own room... come the end of each week.
no subject
[ Oh. Oh no. Machias does not like where this is going. ]
You're staying in my room?! [ FLAILS. ] Why? Why do we even need to go to-- Is that really necessary?!
no subject
{ Just a point there. }
It'll only start towards the end of each week. Is something wrong with that?
