WEEK FOUR

the pygmalion. . .

ONLINE

CAPTAIN'S LOG:
WEEK (4)

monday - thursday

(33) survivors

Sunday's trial was only mere hours ago, but you find yourself faced with a new week on The Pygmalion. When you awaken, you will find the ship restored to its previous state, all areas interfered with during the murder looking mostly the same as they did before. Along with this, it appears there are new areas opened on the ship. It seems you have more exploring to do. The robot in the cafeteria has prepared another breakfast of various foods.

(OOC: Please submit your murder proposals by 9 PM EST Tuesday.)

todorable: (calm it down)

[sadly, that is true]

Oh--uh--no, I wasn't worried about that. It's just...

[he raises their cuffed hands]

It's kind of awkward, don't you think? Being left one-handed and all.

[personal profile] laptopper 2016-06-28 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I won't deny that it's problematic, but the odds of getting out of this via protesting are about... 000.36 percent.

[ So not very likely. ]
todorable: (so brave)

[personal profile] todorable 2016-06-28 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not always about 'will it work,' Fumi. Sometimes you just have to stand up for what you feel is right.

[as if he's fighting for something important and not just complaining to complain]

...But you're right, we should try to make the best of it! There's plenty of worse ways to end up, right?

[personal profile] laptopper 2016-06-30 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
That's right. Imagine being handcuffed to a cadaver.

[ Thanks, Fumi. ]

[personal profile] todorable 2016-07-01 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
[he goes somewhat off-color]

No... Let's...not. We can just enjoy the things that people who are fully alive tend to enjoy. Like...breathing, and not being filled with weird cadaver fluid. Nice things, right?

[personal profile] laptopper 2016-07-01 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Decomposition can happen rather quickly, depending on the environment the corpse is in-- ah, but it's true that you can't make too many discoveries without the proper vital functions.

[ this is who you're stuck with, Totty. ]
todorable: (this cannot be happening)

[personal profile] todorable 2016-07-01 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[so exchanging contouring tips is out, then?]

...Do dead people make a lot of discoveries where you're from?

[personal profile] laptopper 2016-07-02 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
No, but they aid discoveries by their deaths. That's more medical science, though-- not really my thing.
todorable: (hey man)

[personal profile] todorable 2016-07-02 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Can't say it's my thing, either. I mean, I appreciate us having moved on from leeches and stuff, but I'd still rather leave it to the pros.

So, what are you into, then? If not cadavers...

[personal profile] laptopper 2016-07-03 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Science. Exploring the unknown. That's a realm of possibilities that will never be exhausted, for as much as we learn.

[personal profile] todorable 2016-07-03 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
So, the more we know, the more we don't know...? Sounds pretty deep. So what part of our knowledge, or lack thereof, are you focusing on? Science is pretty broad, right?

[personal profile] laptopper 2016-07-04 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
That's the beauty of it. I was focusing on memory, but here, I want to investigate how much control they have over our bodies and consciousness.

[personal profile] todorable 2016-07-04 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
--They can control us? ...I mean. Other than the whole paranoia thing last week and all.

[apparently someone hadn't thought of it that way for some reason...]

[personal profile] laptopper 2016-07-04 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Do you remember when they seized the people they put into 'stasis'? How they instantly couldn't move?

[personal profile] todorable 2016-07-04 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
...Oh. ...Oh. Oh. Rgh...

What are you going to do? How are you going to research that?

[personal profile] laptopper 2016-07-05 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd hoped I'd be able to study them while they were in stasis, but that clearly didn't work, and I doubt the scanners in the medbay would pick up much on a live person...

Well. For now, I'm stuck in the observation stage.

todorable: (oh dear)

[personal profile] todorable 2016-07-05 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Would...wouldn't it be useful to scan a normal person first, just for the base data? What if there's already something wrong with us...

[personal profile] laptopper 2016-07-06 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)
It couldn't hurt, but considering the equipment belongs to our captors, there's really no guarantee it hasn't been tampered with in order to avoid revealing what they did to our bodies...
todorable: (i am disappoint)

[personal profile] todorable 2016-07-06 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Well. That's hopeful. It kinda sounds like you're saying do nothing. Though I must admit, it is one of the easiest things to do.

[a personal favorite, to be honest...]

...Wonder if there's a way to get someone in stasis without them turning into giblets and gravy a few hours later.

[personal profile] laptopper 2016-07-07 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Are you volunteering?

[personal profile] todorable 2016-07-07 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Uh--

...Uh.

Hrghhh...but we don't even know how it happens! Right? Right! ...Right?

[personal profile] laptopper 2016-07-07 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Just annoy the AI enough and I'll be sure to study what happens thoroughly.

[ IT'LL PROBABLY BE FINE. ]

[personal profile] todorable 2016-07-07 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I...I kinda pride myself on the ability to be charming, you see... Also, I really like not being giblets... I bet there's someone else who would be perfect for it, though!

[personal profile] laptopper 2016-07-08 12:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Someone who isn't as attached to surviving, huh...

[ HM. Well, he's probably not wrong. ]

[personal profile] todorable 2016-07-08 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I might tweak the phrasing a bit, but generally yes. I bet there's plenty of people who would volunteer to egg on the AI. Then you just wait and see what happens to them. That's science too, right?
