sunday TRIAL DAY TWO

At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort.

The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up.

The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body.

To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it.

Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

There's one thing that still bothers me, and it's about the placement of the blood!

Why is there only one trail of blood going up the stairs? It doesn't seem very heavy, either.

Perhaps something bloody was carried or dripped? Or perhaps somehow it was used to lure Raleigh up the stairs?

I'm sure there are some goody-goodies who would follow a blood trail without thinking to try and help. The worst kind of people. Was that man one of them?

Apparently so. He had, as Jack informed me, a trustworthy face.

So we were right - he was lured by the thought of a murder. But he was found on the first floor. So perhaps he was pushed?

That's right. If I were luring someone away to commit a theft or lure them into a trap, I'd do the exact same thing! I'd trick them, and then I'd surprise them!

...Could the robot have been made to look like a body?

I...er, I'm not so sure about that one.

It's not so far fetched! It could have been...disguised...

Maybe the killer had a wound...? Or maybe someone was having their time of the month. Or, or maybe it was Raleigh's bloody ghost leading to an overhead view of his dead body? Could be the robot's bloody ghost, too.

If the killer was wounded somehow, wouldn't there be two trails? One leading up, and one leading back down. This seems more careful, doesn't it?

The bandages! They could have made the trail as a lure like Adelina said, and wrapped up the wound as soon as they were done!

Well, well, looks like we're on the same page for once.

The salve and the bandages were found together, after all.

...Perhaps that's why so much salve was used. The killer could have inflicted small wounds on themselves to create a trail of blood to attract the attention of the victim. Even small cuts can bleed a great deal if made in the correct area. Then they could have used salve in order to heal the small cuts.

Then they could have pushed him down once he was there. That may explain the trash bags, too - somewhere to hide.

Hahahaha! That would be perfect, wouldn't it?

[Why is Jessie laughing? Of course. It all makes sense to her now. It can only be one thing.]

If he was pushed from the top before he was crushed, he would have fought his attacker. And if he fought his attacker, he would have grabbed something from them.

And who among the suspects had such an item left right next to the body?

...Perhaps. I can't deny that it would make sense.

And as has been pointed out, whose room is close to the office?

And whose name starts with a "TS"?

...She does seem as though she would have been quick and stealthy enough to obtain all of those items, but the same is true of several other members of that list.

What if the killer is simply pointing several pieces of planted evidence towards her?

You wouldn't need a lot of physical strength either, if you were to catch him off guard while he was occupied by a trail... or even a "body."

What do you mean, a body? The robot would have been easily recognized as not human.

If you were right in front of it, sure.

But in a rush to find what might have thought had been a body upstairs... If the killer took steps to obscure it, it still could have been set up as a lure.

That would explain the empty trash bag... The killer could have hidden the robot in the bag.

That, or the killer could have used some of the things they already gathered. Like clothing. [ shrug, and hm. ] Could have been a mix of both.

A piece of clothing did have oil on it. It would make sense. How would we determine who it was, though?
