sunday TRIAL DAY TWO (38) survivors At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort. The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up. The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body. To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it. Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

Oh! Oh, I see what you mean. My apologies.

If they used that much salve, perhaps they were fairly injured themselves. I wonder when that occurred.

That's a good question. We know that the salve only works on small wounds, so what could it have been used for this time? And why so much of it?

[bloodbiter]

What if they killed him in some other way, then used the salve to disguise it and make it seem as though he was killed by the robot falling onto him? Either that, or he injured them somehow prior to his death and they needed to cover it up. Either way, it is strange, since it would not have disguised a large wound. Unless...

[pauses for a moment]

They could have used some of the salve before realizing that it wouldn't work, and being in a hurry, decided to push the robot onto him to disguise his original wounds.

[a sigh, though]

But this is all a theory with nothing in particular to back it up or prove it. I don't know what may have happened.

I suppose that's possible. If someone were crushed by a robot, it'd point to someone who just wanted a simple way to kill someone. If there's another murder method, it might point to someone more specific.

...Do we need to undress the body again?

[bloodbiter]

...I suppose it couldn't hurt.

[ugh.]

I can leave that to you, right? I'm not much of a body person. I'm more of a criminal mastermind person.

[bloodbiter]

Oh, I wasn't really... I mean, I'm not certain I should. I wouldn't know the signs to look for, really.

[someone save her]

I'm sure you'll do fine! I'm counting on you, Adelina!

[She waves some small flags she made earlier in encouragement.]

[antagonize]

I imagine that'd be the case. The bandage roll we found [in the med bay] was mostly used up.

[Which makes him wonder...]

Think the blood leading to upstairs in the cafeteria could have been from our culprit themselves?

[bloodbiter]

It's certainly possible. That would match the bloodied clothing as well... But the salve should only be for cuts and scrapes. Would it have hidden anything more serious?

[antagonize]

The AI said during the last trial that applying it to larger wounds wouldn't do a dam— a dang thing, didn't she?

[Look. No cursing, just for you.]

If our killer got injured big time, it would explain why they had to rely on the bandages when the salve alone didn't cut it.

[bloodbiter]

Then we would still be able to see their injuries, wouldn't we?

[antagonize]

Unless someone has some secret healing mumbo jumbo we aren't privy too, oh yeah.

[bloodbiter]

Then I think the logical next step is to make check the suspects for injuries.

[antagonize]

Time for another strip search, you mean. The women are sure gonna love that.

[SARCASM. THEY'RE GOING TO HATE IT.]

[bloodbiter]

I know, but... It isn't as though we have much choice, is it? If you have another suggestion, I would certainly like to hear it.

[antagonize]

Nah, I agree. This is the best idea we've got right now. If the suspects have nothing to hide, they'll just have to cooperate.

[brooches]

What about... what about the robot? Would the thing have caught aflame or sparked when impaled? Perhaps we're looking at burn wounds?

[bloodbiter]

I'm afraid I don't know enough about technology to determine such a thing, but... Possibly.

How would they have gotten injured, though? Did the robot fight back while the culprit was cutting the wires or something? Or did Raleigh do it?

Now that gives me an unpleasant idea.

What if a certain hairpin kunai wasn't dropped? What if it was knocked aside?

If it wasn't Elizabeth or Fiona, maybe it's something the killer didn't mean to leave behind. If Raleigh fought back, that is.

Would she be so careless as to leave it behind if that were the case, though?

Who knows? It looks like there was a lot going on. Maybe someone would never notice it was missing.
