Friday comes again, but this time it's much more gentle. There are no songs ousting you from your rooms, no — instead, you are allowed to sleep however long you would like as long as it does not breach any rules. If you attempt to open your datapad, however, you will be greeted with a video and accompanying music, of a different sort of persuasion from the music played previously — this one is not a jangly easy listening style tune, but rather a haunting and dreamlike elegy. Turning off your datapad will make the video disappear, but restarting the datapad will only bring the video back up again.

Despite this, nothing out of the ordinary seems to occur. You have lunch, wander the garden, and have a drink with the companions you have made in the past two weeks. Soon, mid-afternoon comes.

[ the music still isn't much to minako's liking, but it's marginally better than what's been played in the past. she wasn't able to catch where the scream was coming from when she heard it, but being closest to the room where they all woke up in originally, she decides to check in there first.

with her datapad in hand (just in case), she makes her way there. ]

[ And Jack will tag along! But of course, Jack tagging along means "colorful" commentary. Minako probably was almost free of being subjected to his presence, and yet right before she gets there, he wanders up to be helpful, alas. ]

What, haven't found our loser of the week yet?

[ what the actual fuck. have a disapproving teenage pout, jack. ]

Someone could be dead. You could have a little more tact than that, you know...

[ The arrival room doesn't look too suspicious. There's so many pods, though, so who knows. Will they venture in further? ]

Yeah- [ Jack scoffs ] Because using nicer words is going to make them feel that much better about being, y'know, dead.

[ The disapproving stare rolls off him like water, and he wanders inside to start checking out the room. Since it doesn't look too suspicious at a first glance, Jack will start methodically checking out the pods to see if there's anything strange about them. He'll be starting with the one closest to the door and just heading down the line. ]

Would it kill you to at least be be respectful?

[ no pun intended.

she doesn't even know this guy's name and she already doesn't like him. but whatever, being in the same room doesn't mean that they have to work together at the moment. she'll be heading towards the desk in the corner, checking the pods that she passes along the way. ]

[ It doesn't seem like there's anything on the desks. Maybe a stress ball. Minako might need it to deal with Jack.

Jack, however, will notice that something appears to be in one of the pods. The glass is a bit tinted, so it's hard to make it out. He'll have to pry (or smash) it open. ]

Kill me? No. But it is po—

[ Luckily, that thought gets cut off mid-sentence as Jack steps up to a pod that's different from the rest. He'll start with attempting to pry it open to see what's inside, but only because there's nothing super great to smash it with in arm's reach. ]

Well, looks like there's something in here. Mighta spoke too soon.

You found something?

[ thankfully, she can put aside her salt and annoyance for long enough to jog over and see what he's talking about. she leans over the pod as well, and there is definitely something in there. hm.

she moves beside him, hands on the pod as well. she's stronger than she looks, so she can definitely try to help with the prying. ]

Let's pull on three. Ready?

[ It comes open easily enough, actually. Sometimes being gentle is good enough Jack.

When they pop it open, they'll notice some articles of clothing inside. Hopefully no one tried to have a quickie in a pod. ]

[ But being gentle definitely isn't as fun! Jack definitely looks mildly disappointed when the pod opens easily enough. ]

No need. They come up no problem.

[ But he'll check out one of those articles of clothing, and we'll say whichever one is closest to him. Better check for blood or anything else obvious before picking it up, probably. ]

At this point, I would be making a hilarious joke about nookie, but considering you're just a kid, nah, can't. But I just want you to know that I could have, and it was a good one.

[ aw, man! she was totally ready to melee the glass open if she had to. she almost looks disappointed, but steps back to let the glass pop open before looking in. she'll check out the clothes, too. ]

It totally does look like someone got busy, though. [ snerk. ] I wonder how these got here?

[ she can summon a dick monster from her mind, jack. combine that with your average teenage hormones and nookie jokes are very welcome. don't be a prude. ]

[Hey I heard we were talking about bangin'. The Bull has been summoned. Honestly how the fuck did he get in here so quietly?]

We thinkin' someone got down and dirty? Yeah, I bet you that it's happened. Forty people don't live in close quarters without someone going to town.

[ Sucks to suck, Jack, because what you're picking up doesn't have any blood on it. What it does have is a silky thick black substance. It's pretty.. oily. Because it's oil. He'll notice that it's a large mens t-shirt. Pretty plain looking.

Minako lucked out with the blood, though. She has some large mens pants with a bloodstain on one leg.

Bull might notice something fluttering to the ground when they pick up their respective pieces of this dirty ensemble. ]

[ Listen he can't make sex jokes around someone his daughter's age okay!!! It's weird. It makes him feel weird. And yet when Bull comes in, he makes a noise of exasperation, though it's mild. ]

...Okay, probably. But.

[ He picks up the shirt once it seems relatively safe to do so, though he feels the oil on his fingertips and laughs. ]

Ohhh man, if that's the case? They're into some really kinky stuff. So, gonna go out a limb here and say probably not. At least ninety-five percent sure this is just oil instead of anything more exciting.

Yeah... I guess blood counts for that, too.

[ WOOT WOOT. but while she doesn't seem phased by the blood when she turns over the fabric of the pants and sees the stain, her brow furrows. if it wasn't yet clear that there was evidence of a murder here, it's now obvious. ]

Do you think that oil came from the serving robots?

Seen some weird shit in my time, wouldn't write it it off. Leaving your clothes around in dark corners could be someones thing too.

[Bull has no kids, or compunctions about hilarious sex cracks so he's happy to make them for you, Jack. Bending down to pick up whatever it is that fell to the ground.]

So that's some sort of . . . robot blood? [listen they dont have robots okay leave him alone]

[ The fabric Bull picks up doesn't seem like it came from the shirt or the pants. It's an entirely different color - a red. It's also damp and darker red near the tip. Seems like it's bloody. ]

What, am I seriously from the most advanced place here?

[ Jack makes a dismissive, pfft sort of noise, but his comment isn't quite as barbed as some of the past few have been. He's gradually getting used to the idea that yeah, it pretty much is. ]

I mean, yeah, kind of. It's not exactly the same, but for the purpose of an analogy? Pretty much.

[ He looks to the other scrap of fabric that Bull has found. Roughly how big of a piece of fabric is it? ]

[ The scrap is about four inches long. It clearly appears to have been torn from something larger. ]

[ being the shortest one out of all of them, minako will have to step on her tiptoes to peer over and see what jack and bull are looking at. but she does get a look, and it makes her hum curiously. ]

But the big question is if all of this stuff came from the victim or the killer. Maybe even both!

[ He can take a little condescension about not knowing jack shit about robots, he is not offended. Holding the scrap carefully away from the deep red end of it, so he doesn't smear it around. He lowers it a little for everyone elses benefit.]

Yeah, thinking the killer probably didn't leave their clothes out for us to find so easy. Looks like a struggle though.

[ Jack shrugs, then nods to the shirt he's holding. ]

Well, you know anyone that has a preference for wearing really boring-as-shit clothes like this? 'Cause I'm going to guess these probably belonged to the killer. Since, I mean- Well, we've definitely all got our own senses of fashion, don't we?

[ There is definitely judgement in "fashion," because he's seen some of the things that people on the ship wear... ]

Nice and generic. That, and stripping the person you killed? Weird.

[ minako's no model herself, but she can see where jack is coming from. the pygmalion needs to invest in a fashion police, tbh. ]

I guess. [ it doesn't sound that weird to her, but she gets his point. ] Then that might make things easier, right? We just need to find someone who fits into these pants.

[ she holds them up for emphasis. they're pretty big! ]

[Bull is sorry everyone is truly jealous they can't contain contain themselves around his obviously cool and intimidating outfit.]

Stripping them for armor, sure. The boss does that all the time - generally not their trousers too, but you never know what kind of shit these guys got on them. Usually don't bother myself, none of it fits me anyway. Very least you can pocket some gold.

Guess we'll have to check the body. See if it's naked.
