cradleproject | WEEK 12 - INVESTIGATION

The last time we were here, the entire place was blown up. So yeah, I can already see a couple of differences.

[but ugh FINE!! He'll just walk around the room then, heading towards the center and clearly looking for his staff over anything else. Fuck clues, he wants his magic back.]

Got it. [Jason's a good friend, taking one for the team like this. Clover's definitely just following Judar around like a dumb puppy, but as much as her priorities are finding either a snake or lasers, she actually does care about clues so she's trying to be observant?? At least somebody is. What's lying around, what looks especially broken and/or shiny.]

[Jack's corpse looks pretty much like how Dave described it; his head's been blown off, he's missing his roboarm, and there are severe burns up his legs. Jason might also notice his gun is still mounted on his non-robot wrist.

No weapons or snakes in here, but there's a large scorch mark on the floor towards the center of the room. There's also a broken glass bottle there; if Judar isn't careful, he'll step on pieces of shattered glass.]

[Jason will definitely notice that the gun is still mounted on his wrist, which is... curious. The killer took his hand which carried a concealed weapon over the obvious firearm. That's strange to say the least.

He will carefully remove the gun from Jack's wrist to take a closer look. Are there any signs that it has been fired recently? Regardless of what the results are, he will also take one for the team and take a close look at the gross bits of Jack's head. Particularly, he wants to verify if organic matter is the only thing there. Is there anything that would indicate an explosive being thrown at or attached to Buffy the Souvlaki Slayer's head?]

Gun's still on Jack. Makes the part where our culprit took his concealed weapon over the obvious one pretty damn weird, if you ask me. [But.] Have you guys found anything?

[Judar isn't careful at all because usually he doesn't have to worry about stepping on shit on the ground!! So he'll be jumping back with a yelp after trodding on the broken glass with bare feet like a total moron.]

Ow, shit! Yeah, apparently some asshole decided to have a drink after setting the room on fire!

...y'think maybe Jack got super drunk and did this to himself?

Carefu—! Oh my god. [well she tried] You good? [she's gonna offer Judar her arm though so he can make sure he isn't about to run around with broken glass still lodged in his foot, because she has way too much faith in his ability to take care of himself apparently. She's also deadeyeing him the whole time for that theory.]

Luke mentioned a missing bottle of vodka, didn't he? It was probably used to start the fire...

[The gun smells like it's been recently fired and is liberally splattered with blood and gore. If Jason checks, he'll also find that it's empty of bullets. As for Jack's head, it looks more like he was shot at point blank range than it does blown off by any sort of explosive.

The broken bottle does indeed look like a vodka bottle. There's a scrap of extremely burnt rag by it as well.]

[Well. That's good to know. Since Jack has fired his gun in front of others before, would Jason be able to tell if the gun is a plausible match for this kind of damage? It's the only functional gun he can think of at this moment, after all. That said, he will take a second one for the team and check Jack over for any other, less obvious injuries. This means that, yeah, he's looking under Jack's clothing to be thorough. Someone kill him. Just cleanse his remaining eye with chlorine.]

Yeah. Sure. Jack totally got shitfaced and shot himself in the head. Sounds about right.

[He's joking.]

If there are shards of glass on the floor, the vodka bottle fits the description. Someone made a molotov cocktail, and then... What? Tossed it in to distract both Jack and Yuno? Unless the fire safety on this ship is shit, one detonation on the top level shouldn't have set off the sprinklers downstairs.

I'd buy it. Make for an easy trial, at least.

Yeah, I didn't understand like any of that. But the answer to 'is something on this ship shit' is always yes. Not like Ass Lice or whoever built this ship would give a shit about safety when we're supposed to be killing each other every week.

[anyway he'll just take Clover's arm while grumbling so he can pick glass out of his foot. While he's at it, he'll take a more thorough look at the area around the scorchmark to see if anything else stands out that he needs to avoid stepping on.]

[she knows he's not joking........ let's try again in small words:] We're thinking someone used the vodka to make an explosive. I dunno, it's not so unbelievable that one fire up here would be enough to set off all the sprinklers, just in case... It's a pretty contained space, right?

[she's gonna wait for judar but yeah, is there anything else here for him to step on since only one of them can be careful and unfortunately that's her now. are there any nooks or crannies that are gonna need to be investigated.]

[From the signs of shock damage in Jack's head, the gun is definitely a plausible match. Jason's great sacrifice nets him absolutely nothing else, alas; it doesn't look like there are any other injuries on him aside from the ones already mentioned.

Nothing else to step on, but if Clover looks up, she'll notice that the scorchmark and bottle are both directly underneath a vent.]

[Ugh. At least he can say he was thorough. If there's nothing else on Jack, he will step away from the body and inspect the surrounding area just in case. In relation to the vent, the scorchmark, and whatever equipment Jack might have been fiddling with — where is the body situated?]

It's not unbelievable, no. But it's strange. Last week, only the sprinklers in the biological laboratory went off. Who's to say our perp didn't mess with the sprinklers to give every room on the ship a chloroform shower?

[Judar shrugs the shrug of someone who has no idea what a sprinkler system is because why would you need that when you have water magic.]

Maybe that's just what happens now that we can't get Ass Lice to do it.

[OKAY WELL SHE TRIED]

Maybe. But if that was the plan I guess the killer would have to know that for sure, right?

[Aaand she's looking from the vent to the scorchmark and back and forth again, making sure she's gauging that distance correctly before she points up at the vent.] Hey, it's a pretty straight shot from up there, isn't it?

[Jack's body is between the scorchmark and the entrance of the room. In relation to the equipment, it looks like the vent's near the center of the room and therefore an area likely frequently passed under while getting from place to place. While looking at the surrounding area, Jason will likely spot a bullet somewhere in the bits of brain and gore behind Jack's body.]

[He glances at the vent for Clover's inquiry, nodding as he gauges the distance.]

Yeah. Seems like it is. If you're already up there, it's just a matter of popping off the vent and dropping the bottle. No effort. More evidence that this was another souvlaki.

[... But that is definitely a bullet mixed in with the brain and gore behind Jack's corpse. Presumably a bullet shell? Unless it's a whole, unfired bullet. Don't mind him as he bends down to pick it up because, well. It's evidence. And while he's here again, does it seem like Jack's robotic hand was forcibly ripped off? Or was it removed carefully?

Do you guys see any bullets around the room? Jack's gun is out of ammo, but I only spotted one here.

I thought whoever killed this week had to be one of those alien assholes anyway. Unless someone here got really desperate and didn't give a fuck about the queen showing up.

Well, yeah. But I wonder if we could figure out which way they came from if they used the vents...

Clover and Judar won't find any other bullets in the room. It doesn't look like there's anything else noticeable that stands out here.]

Have we seen anything resembling a vent map lately? Without Alice around, we can't exactly request another one tomorrow. [He's a fast learner, but the vents are Too Much for him.] Did you find anything, by the way?

[Well, apparently they didn't.

If they're done here, Jason will drag this terrible crew to check if the Electric Sheep room has been entered since it was locked off on Monday, as well as the interior of the C.Q. just to be safe. It seems like the action was contained where Jack and Yuno were, but. Might as well be completely sure.]

You're not sending me into those fucking vents again! [it would take him all week anyway from how slow he is] And nah, not that I can tell.

[ugh you bunch of babies????] Give me a boost then. Forget the map, maybe there's something to see inside it. [But yeah onwards elsewhere. She's just kind of peering into the electric sheep room from the doorway instead of actually going inside though, that place gives her the heebie jeebies.]
