Can I ask you one more question? [He's going to anyway.] What made you think listening to Alice was gonna end up being okay? Why her?

It's a good question.

Not sure how to answer it quickly - not exactly a lot of time. She had proof. Knew who the Chargers were and how to get at me. It's easy enough for a demon to get inside your head and find that shit out, but it felt different. Got a pretty good gut for these things. Alice is just one of your enemies, but maybe the one you should keep close. The demons are more dangerous, they can hide in plain sight.

[...that's horrifying and really not what he was hoping to hear. And yet. It makes sense.]

Thanks for the advice. We'll do the best we can. [Shit so maybe...Arumat had been on the right path after all.] Trust me, I've dealt with enough "demons" in my life that it won't be easy on them.

[He ducks his head.] ...sorry about all of this. [But not that sorry. This game's pretty messed up, but that's all he has to say.]

Sure. Good luck. Watch out for Adam, he's a good kid.

[He just laughs a little at the sorry. Seems like pissing in the ocean at this point.]

And you don't have to be sorry. Doesn't do me or you much good.
