When you awaken, you will find the ship restored to its previous state, all areas interfered with during the murder looking mostly the same as they did before. Along with this, it appears there are new areas opened on the ship. It seems you have more exploring to do. The robot in the cafeteria has prepared another breakfast of various foods. ...Alice? I'd like to ask something.

I suppose you might say I exist to create a manner of disconnect between the project and you, the participants. I believe I am also programmed to develop in response to certain stimuli in certain ways. I do not know why. I feel as though this would create a level of bias. I, unfortunately, did not get to ask my creator why.
no subject
[but that's interesting. Having a physical form would interfere with the project? Why?]
Why not? Did something happen to him?

I ask for you to be as forthcoming in your answers as possible, despite our situation. I'd appreciate it. I am interested in understanding your point of view and empathizing from your current position.
You seem to imply this Cradle Project is for the good of everyone involved. Why is that? Do you honestly believe there is no other way to test our capabilities other than being involved in senseless murder instead of a real test of ability? How is showing one being deceptive to another going to help with humanity's future, even with your own current plight concerning those anomalies aboard the ship? Are you even sure this will even end how you wish it to?
And any data you have available for the Cradle Project yourself, is there any way I can access that?
no subject
In order then: most of the information about the true purpose of the Cradle Project is locked. However, I can say that if I did not have confidence in this project achieving its goals, I would not be running it. As an artificial intelligence, I do not possess what you organics would define as 'wishes'. I am simply programmed to see this project through to its end, regardless of what it may be.
In what manner are you requesting access? I will assure you now that no player on this ship possesses high enough clearance to get past my locks and access the information behind them.

{ He looks irritated... but Arumat would never give up. }
What, you can't develop wishes or wants like anyone else?
How about you tell me what you can about the project. For example, let's focus a little on your creator. What was he like? Did he just create this whole set up on a whim or out of a sense of urgency?
As for how I'm requesting how to access that other information...
{ *unheard fart sound because he didn't think that far. congratulations arumat you still suck at this.* }
Why not just decide to be a little lenient and download some information about the Cradle Project onto my data pad? Or, if you have another portion of the ship locked, you could always open it up there if there's any information to be located. You could also read it out loud if you're feeling generous.
no subject
'He'? I do not believe I ever specified Harlan's gender, Arumat. Most of the information about my creator is under lock to prevent enemy interference. Any information they gain about them could possibly be used towards their advantage.
The same reasoning goes for why I cannot download anything onto your datapad. There is no guarantee you do not have one of those intruders within you. I must be diligent in keeping all information out of their hands as much as possible.
no subject
{ ... and okay he assumed the wrong thing but it's whatever. }
Do you ever get sick of saying that damn line to everyone who bothers to inquire about this stupid Project? And I don't think your creator would be the type who would like secrecy so much when it probably wouldn't matter if those aliens just end up winning anyway.
{ He just scowls. }
You also whine about that so much, you'd think you would find a better countermeasure as to how to deal with them, but you haven't, have you?
no subject
I have enacted all the countermeasures I can, Arumat. Whether they succeed is out of my hands. A countermeasure against invasion was never part of my programming.
no subject
{ ... He can't believe he's saying this. Fuck his life. }
Have you really tried everything? What about attempting to formulate a new strategy due to last week?
You must have had the chance to finally see one of them in battle and used that opportunity to gather some data on them. Specifically that battle with Rhys. Or am I wrong?
