the pygmalion. . . ONLINE CAPTAIN'S LOG: WEEK (1)

monday (41) survivors It had been three days since you had awoken. The ship was still quiet, except for the low hums of enigmatic machines with no apparent purpose. You awake, like usual, to dim lighting and poor rations. Perhaps being on the ship had grown monotonous — it was, perhaps, amazing how little anything seemed to happen in space, a final frontier of malaise. That monotony is crushed by a voice echoing through the narrow hallways. Reformatting . . . Reformatting . . . Reformatting complete. The Pygmalion is online. Welcome, travelers. Please assemble in the meeting room. Your presence is mandatory. Silence falls once again. A minute or so passes, and the lights around the ship finally brighten, the walls looking more alive and more unfamiliar — as if you must relearn the ship's interior once again. The robots on deck begin to make rounds, nudging and pushing at the ship's passengers to make their way to the meeting room. You hear the doors behind you lock. It seems there is only one path to take. ENTER COMMAND_

[ Oh my fucking god. Is this happening? It may not be French, but the smell is intoxicating. The spices, the cheese - ]

[ Like in New York! She read about a place called Tomato Pies opening in Trenton, New Jersey. This pizza craze the Italians brought over... ]

[ She's going to look around for silverware. None? Okay, two fingers picking it up and cheese is starting to slide -! ]

Wait, why are you eating that?! It could be - it may be poisoned!

[ But it's still dangling between both of her hands now, held onto in all of its greasy glory. ]

I mean, if they were gonna poison me I'm sure they would have done it via food cubes or shit first because I ate that stuff too.

[ DAVE DOESN'T SEE THE POINT IN STARVING HIMSELF. ]

But if you wanna wait a few minutes to see if I drop dead or not, I'm ok with being your food taste-tester.

[ you know you want this greasy goodness, liz. ]

[ She does wait a few minutes, until Dave doesn't die. Against her better judgment but in line with the rumbling of her stomach, she'll hastily take a bite.

That's a good oh my god, right? Can't possibly be a bad one because pizza.

[ As soon as she swallows that, she'll take another bite and nod.

It's so... cheesy? So doughy? What the hell is this made of - she wonders. ]

I've never had anything like this - even meatballs and spaghetti I've tried...

Pizza is the food of the gods, Liz. Like, pizza and...doritos.

[ look dave survived on basically no home cooking and like cereal, pizza is AMAZING!!!! and the only hot food he ever had much of pre meteor ]

Everything looks a little bit brighter with a hot slice of pizza.

[ She'll let that last one go as she takes a few more bites, finishing it to the crust. ]

This is selfish - [ She says holding her hands out to the side - man, the grease on this... slowly wipes it down uniform??? ]

Is it? I dunno, I think it's pretty damn amazing and there's enough for all of us to have a few slices.

[ honestly does anyone care that much about their uniforms ]

I can't - [ She'll die. There's so much and it's too good. ] That very may well be a sin.

[ But please catch her eyeing another slice, she is. She really is. Even newbies don't eat the fucking crust, though ]

Come on, at least one more slice won't kill you. Also, I seriously doubt it's a sin. At least, not in any society that knows their shit.

It very well could, given the circumstances.

[ LIZ, JUST EAT THE GOD DAMN PIZZA. IT'S WHISPERING YOUR NAME.

She slowly inches her finger to it and drags it to her. Reluctantly. It's keeping her mind off of things... ]

It's too good, however! And this - this is a common meal for you?

It used to be? My diet changed a bit three years ago because I [ ... ] moved. But pizza was like the only hot food I used to get much of, yeah. Bro wasn't one for cooking.

[brooches]

[ Sorry, she doesn't catch half of what you're saying. 2busy eating. She's really hungry. ]
