WEEK 1 - Online

the pygmalion. . .

ONLINE

CAPTAIN'S LOG:
WEEK (1)

monday

(41) survivors

It had been three days since you had awoken. The ship was still quiet, except for the low hums of enigmatic machines with no apparent purpose. You awake, like usual, to dim lighting and poor rations. Perhaps being on the ship had grown monotonous — it was, perhaps, amazing how little anything seemed to happen in space, a final frontier of malaise.

That monotony is crushed by a voice echoing through the narrow hallways.

Reformatting . . .

Reformatting . . .

Reformatting complete. The Pygmalion is online. Welcome, travelers. Please assemble in the meeting room. Your presence is mandatory.

Silence falls once again. A minute or so passes, and the lights around the ship finally brighten, the walls looking more alive and more unfamiliar — as if you must relearn the ship's interior once again. The robots on deck begin to make rounds, nudging and pushing at the ship's passengers to make their way to the meeting room. You hear the doors behind you lock. It seems there is only one path to take.

[ Raleigh has found a chair to sit in, and he's doing so with his arms crossed over his chest and the biggest glare on his face that he can muster.

He read through the profiles- never hurts to know who you're here with- and while his own isn't anything anyone couldn't learn about him after asking a few questions or getting their hands on his PPDC personnel files, there were some other... interesting things there about his fellow captives. ]

Where did they even get all this stuff?
chiseler: (and as you step back into line)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-06-06 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Pretty sure that's the same question a bunch of us are asking and not getting answers to, too. [And isn't that just peachy.] Any guesses?
seeherheart: (079)

[personal profile] seeherheart 2016-06-06 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Dunno. [ he makes a motion towards the hologram with a hand ] All my stuff's documented with the PPDC. Might be difficult, but somebody could have gotten their hands on it. I'm guessing not everyone else has papers floating around out there.
chiseler: (gonna seize the day)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-06-07 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Considering I don't know what the PPDC is I'd say that's a good guess. I know I shouldn't have easy access records anywhere. Also makes you wonder if they've got a limit on knowledge about us.
seeherheart: (004)

[personal profile] seeherheart 2016-06-07 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[ His eyebrows go up. ] You’re the second person I’ve met who doesn’t. It stands for “Pan-Pacific Defense Corps.”

But I dunno. Some of these details seem kinda… intimate.
chiseler: (it was really only you)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-06-07 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[He shrugs in response.] Still doesn't ring any bells. Could just be because I'm not from the Pacific side of things. [And just for that he's even going to flip through until he finds Raleigh's profile, glancing it over briefly.] If you mean intimate details like your supposed electric scars? Just means they probably examined us. [Which is also creepy but that's fine. It's the same way somebody knows about the wound to his Achille's heel which is something else. Only three other people should know about that.]
seeherheart: (002)

[personal profile] seeherheart 2016-06-07 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Pretty sure you’d have to be living under a rock not to know what the PPDC is. [ Even if one didn’t buy into the whole “Jaeger pilots are rock stars” mentality, it’s awfully hard to miss the giant creatures coming out of the ocean and the entity that fights them.

As for that last part, he shrugs. ]
More than the physical. A physical exam’s not gonna tell me that someone’s good at chess or… “bitching”.
chiseler: (there's something in your way)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-06-07 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[Thanks Raleigh. He makes a face in response because that still doesn't make sense.] You think everybody else on this ship knows what that is? [It's a rhetorical question.] I was a little busy back where I'm from.

But good point. Isn't that all subjective stuff anyway? They sound more like opinions than real abilities. [He's trained or was born with his. Can someone be born being naturally good at bitching?]
seeherheart: (020)

[personal profile] seeherheart 2016-06-08 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Rhetorical or not, he’ll answer it anyway: ] I did, until about a minute ago.

[ Let’s just add more mysteries to the pile, apparently. ]

Maybe they’ve been watching some of us long enough to form an opinion.
chiseler: (and now you steal away)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-06-09 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe. [He's back to flipping through profiles.] Take a good look at these. Anything you see that all 41 people have in common? [Other than a good chunk of them have some form of fighting experience...and isn't that interesting.] Almost everybody's got some kind of combat skill or magic. They're definitely looking for something specific.

What's it take to be a part of the PPDC?
seeherheart: (033)

[personal profile] seeherheart 2016-06-09 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
[ He shrugs ] Combat skills. Strength, endurance, mental fortitude.

Do you seriously not know about the kaiju?
chiseler: (what's worth forgiving?)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-06-09 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
[The blankest look possible, even if he's trying to think of what a kaiju could even be comparable to.]

Not a clue. But if I had to guess? Some type of monster.
seeherheart: (002)

[personal profile] seeherheart 2016-06-09 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
The big kind. Upwards of three hundred feet tall. So, kinda hard to miss.

The same way they got us, I imagine. Someone has been watching us, and is confident enough in their surveillance to include some rather snide remarks.
seeherheart: (048)

[personal profile] seeherheart 2016-06-07 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
That just raises more questions than it answers.
missmaladroite: (Sexy thing you)

[personal profile] missmaladroite 2016-06-07 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
...I don't know. This is another level of stalking.
seeherheart: (034)

[personal profile] seeherheart 2016-06-07 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, you got quite a list there, yourself. [ What is even the parkour and good luck powers thing about, little miss clumsy?? ]
missmaladroite: (I needed you so badly?)

[personal profile] missmaladroite 2016-06-08 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
Oh-- Oh! That? I'm sure whoever wrote it was just making stupid jokes-- I mean, yo-yoing? How is that a skill?

[NERVOUS LAUGHTER please buy this Raleigh]
seeherheart: (046)

[personal profile] seeherheart 2016-06-08 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He is not buying it at all, honey. ]

You really gotta work on your poker face.

The internet.

( How serious is she being? Well, at least her information could have come from the internet. Everyone else's? Guess )
seeherheart: (006)

[personal profile] seeherheart 2016-06-08 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[ If nothing else, that gets an amused snort out of him. ]

I’d believe it.
brainsqueeze: (ᴛʜɪʀᴛʏ sɪx)

[personal profile] brainsqueeze 2016-06-08 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
( Score one for getting out of a real answer, by giving a real answer )

It's still surprising. The last non-human I met didn't have the internet.
seeherheart: (015)

[personal profile] seeherheart 2016-06-08 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
“Non-human”? You think this is all aliens?

[ Not that he sounds skeptical about the existence of aliens- he’s seen more than his fair share up close and personal, but this seems awful… nuanced for the kind of aliens he’s used to. ]
brainsqueeze: (ғɪғᴛʏ ғɪᴠᴇ)

[personal profile] brainsqueeze 2016-06-09 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
We're in space. It's got a good chance.
seeherheart: (034)

[personal profile] seeherheart 2016-06-10 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
[ He scoffs ]

The only aliens I ever saw came out of the Pacific Ocean, and the didn't exactly have this kinda finesse.
