WEEK 5 - Trial

the pygmalion. . .

ONLINE

CAPTAIN'S LOG:
WEEK (5)

saturday TRIAL DAY ONE

(32) survivors

At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort.

The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up.

The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body.

To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it.

Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

I mean, if they die, they really suck to the point there's nothing I could've done anyways. But. Noted. And they won't die.

[ So off to the pool the merry band of mages (and Handsome Jack) goes! Since the dummy is already set up. Jack will stand a fair enough distance away that he's downrange, but he'll look to the pair with an excited grin. ]

By the way, since you two aren't used to guns? Might wanna cover your ears. They're loud.

[ But you better do it quickly, since Jack won't wait long or wait for them to question it before he'll fire off a shot at the dummy. The shot itself is aimed directly at the dummy's head since Jack has no chill or respect, and it's a near perfect shot between the eyes. He might be showing off. Possibly. ]

[Fine then. After that loud and unpleasant experience, he'll wade down into the water to take a shot from that angle, a few feet away from the dummy. Obviously, he's never done this before, but he's also fairly quick at figuring things out. The kick surprises him, and he jerks upwards a bit at the last second, at which point he'll automatically barrier everyone in the room.]

Kaffas! No, I think I'll stick to staves, thank you!

[Well, Judar wanted to shoot the gun, but not at the extent of going into a pool of bloody water. So he'll be floating in the air above the pool watching this.]

Yeah, magic's way better, I don't get what's so great about these things. They're not stealthy at all. Plus the body was weighed down at the bottom of the pool, right?

[He waves his staff and abruptly some of the water around Cartallen's legs freezes into a large iceblock, sinking the dummy to the bottom of the pool.]

Try shooting it now.

[Oh, right. Well, that is a better idea.

Aiming to take another shot, this time a little closer, pointing down into the water]

What about the noise? Will it still work if I were to submerge it?

[ Jack whistles lowly as he watches the chunk of head fly away, but he starts to walk towards the pool and... take off his shirt. Hope you wanted to see Dad Bod today, since that's happening. ]

Nice shot. You're making my target practice more difficult, but, whatever, don't think it'll matter in this case. Was thinking she might've got shot underwater, so gonna try that. Also, gotta admit, just curious about shooting someone underwater.

[ He'll even give Judar an appreciative nod for sinking it, but no, guns are better? But for the sake of getting this thread done, he won't argue it. Later. He'll head over to Dorian and beckon for the gun. ]

You gotta be up close to it, that I know. It's not going to make it period if you're not right next to it, so, hey I'm here to take a dip for the team.

[ So assuming Dorian hands it over, Jack will indeed take a swim!
Once he's stripped down to his Hyperion Yellow briefs, he'll jump in the pool without any hesitation whatsoever. Clearly, the bloody water doesn't bother him. With the gun in hand, he'll head close to the mannequin, which I'm assuming for the sake of his eardrums is close enough that he doesn't have to submerge his head. But once he's in position, Jack presses the gun to Cartallen's remaining head and shoots. ]

[Nice.

Honestly this is a pretty great image. Dorian firing off deadly weapons in the middle of bloody corpse water would make a pretty great painting. If only he was in a chainmail bikini.
]

Really? Think that's a pretty good look for you.

[Rolling. His damn. Eyes.]

Shall I trade in my magic and go squelching about in ponds, damply firing shots noisy enough to warn any enemy within a mile's radius?

Yup.

[Not even a second of thought. Did you really ask him that. Come on.]
