WEEK 5 - Trial

the pygmalion. . .

ONLINE

CAPTAIN'S LOG:
WEEK (5)

saturday TRIAL DAY ONE

(32) survivors

At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort.

The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up.

The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body.

To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it.

Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

[Hey it's like he told Harold a few trials ago, he outgrew panty raids a few years ago. Worry not, Minako. Regardless Luke's following Arumat into Minako's room and while his space-elf friend is doing a glance, Luke's already moving to check the obvious place, i.e. her desk.]

You ever feel like these trials are getting more and more ridiculous each week?

[ yes, they are getting ridiculous. but let's get serious boys, you have a job to do!

initially, the room seems quite plain - there isn't much in terms of decoration. but arumat will notice a tennis racket leaning next to her bed. as for luke, the most obvious thing he'll find in that obvious place is a spiral bound notebook and a red pen sitting next to it. ]

Hmph. They are.

The only difference is we have less to work with in stark contrast to the previous trials.

{ He'll grunt, irritated by this of course. Why couldn't people just make a murder straightforward and simple? Right, because that'd be too damn easy.

He'll pick up the tennis racket, looking at it and there's nothing weird about it, start to check out Minako's bed by pulling off the covers and looking under the pillow. }

Not to mention some of the laughable choices that defective AI put up on the suspect list.

It's probably going to be that way the more our numbers deplete, too. And I don't think those choices are too laughable. I've learned we can't judge people by appearances at this point. [He makes a sound of interest at the tennis racket but hello little notebook. While Arumat's rifling through her bedding, Luke's...going to have a seat and lean back, opening the notebook to thumb through it. What do we have here?]

[ the bedsheets don't have anything of interest in them, besides being fairly shoddily made in the first place. but they do smell quite nice, so there's that.

as for the notebook, reading a page or two will easily reveal that it's a diary. what an invasion of privacy! ]

Hn. Not too laugable, but just enough.

We'll be able to narrow it down more eventually.

{ He places down the tennis racket, his lips twitching at the memory of when he challenged Minako to a tennis match. But honestly, nothing in the beds makes Arumat drift away after meticulously making it for her.

... Right and there was Minako's drawers, weren't there?

...

Arumat decides to check out the bathroom first. }

Tell me if you find anything of interest, Luke.
chiseler: (and as you step back into line)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-10 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
Unless you find a teenage girl's diary interesting, nothing so far. [Even if he's still reading it and also using his free hand to start opening drawers to the desk, occasionally looking away and feeling around in the drawers to see if he can find anything.] We should also check her closet. I know we won't be able to tell if any of her stuff was recently dried but it can't hurt.

[How are the drawers and bathroom then?]

[personal profile] allout 2016-07-10 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
[ the diary doesn't have anything of importance to the case in its writings. there's some entries about the people she's met, trials from the past few weeks, and general day to day girl feelings, along with some musings about home; wondering how her friends are.

the latest entry only says: "I wonder if I should tell them".

the drawers only have some spare hair clips and writing supplies in them, so onto the bathroom! that's pretty plain as well, but the sink has some nail care tools next to it - a file, clippers, a cuticle pusher, and a few bottles of nail polish. ]

No. Others' diaries are too personal for me to care about all that much.

{ He'll recognize some of those items well enough and move onwards from the bathroom to begin looking through her closet. He'll scoff. }

It'd be a miracle if we actually found anything incriminating in here.
chiseler: (nothing left to lose)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-10 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Dunno about that. Seems like she's got at least one or two secrets to hide. [But he's putting down the book. While Arumat's looking through the closet he'll do a sweep of under the beds and the food chute for anything.] But other than that...? I'm not finding much either.
allout: (pic#7484682)

[personal profile] allout 2016-07-10 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
[ that she does! but none of those secrets are relevant to murder, so you put that diary down right now, mister. though if luke is watching carefully, he'll notice a few pages have been ripped out towards the back of the notebook. still not relevant and probably nothing, but still worth noting.

her closet holds her various outfits, but none of them look like they've been wet recently. the food chute holds nothing; under the bed only has dust bunnies, and maybe a loose sock. ]

thanatosincarnate: (> conflict)

not todd indeed or is luke secretly todd in a luke suit

[personal profile] thanatosincarnate 2016-07-10 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
{ Well, Arumat's not going to see the use of peering into here any longer since there's no need, although he'll just touch each of the outfits to see if he could tell if they were wet. But he doubts it, considering laundry and all.

After he's done, he'll look to Luke. }

If you think it's important, then what was in the diary?

{ He'll move away from the closet. }
chiseler: (with a signal that's out of range)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-10 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
[Decidedly not!Todd will go ahead and move away from the beds, shaking his head.]

Just something about if she should tell someone something. "Them", whoever they are. It was a bunch of other stuff, too, so probably nothing here. I don't think even Minako would debating telling people she's a killer. There were some pages she ripped out though. Wonder where those went.

[He does one more glimpse around the room for anything that might stand out.] Think of anything else we should look for?

[ fuck you guys

but if they decide to look anywhere else, there won't be anything that looks like it could be used as trial evidence. nice room sweep, lads. ]

That sounds like something non-trial related. You could take note of the ripped out pages, but I don't think it's important either.

{ He'll say that quickly enough and then turn towards the door of the room. }

No. There's nothing else. We won't find anything in here. Let's go.

{ That and he doubts it's her so. He'll be moving to leave. }
