saturday TRIAL DAY ONE (32) survivors At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort. The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up. The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body. To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it. Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

...oh. [...wow that sure is a great point that he didn't consider.] But wasn't she also shot in the head? Then it becomes a case of which event happened first. We don't know the order that these things happened and I don't know about you, but if I was shot in the head I don't think trying to swim would be my top priority.

Hah! I'd buy it. Maybe this is all just an experiment to see how long it takes before all of our heads explode from how stupid this shit is.

You think maybe it was to frame somebody else? Look at all of the effort Tsukuyo went through when she killed Raleigh.

It could be. It has to be for a reason, right? To make us figure something wrong. Somehow. Because otherwise why bother?

Exactly. Last time we were all set on the fact that the shovel was what killed Allen and it wasn't until we luminoled the hammer that we realized we were wrong. It's not a bad idea to pursue.

[parodeity]

At least most of us were like "yeah but Lavi did it" even if we weren't clear on the details. No such luck this time...

[ but he nods. ]

So, we should try to figure out why the fuck they complicated shit. Unless they complicates shit to make us wonder why they complicated shit - ok, no, I am not going down that path. I'll think about it.

[chiseler]

And the other thing is that we can't even narrow down if any of the suspects knew our victim.

Start brainstorming. Even if this is overly complicated it's somebody who really thought this whole thing out. [A pause.] And somebody who knows how to use a gun. I think that's probably important, too.

[parodeity]

I kinda doubt anyone knew her well. I only ever talked to her once, and it was when I was telling her ramen was 100% a weapon.

[ shrugs. ]

But yeah, usin' a gun is def a thing that is required here.

Maybe they wanted to make extra sure she was super dead. Or maybe the killer just really freaking hated her for some reason.

If there was any chance that she could've blabbed who it was? Sure. Making sure somebody was extra super dead makes sense. Doesn't explain why nobody noticed all of this was going on. Wouldn't a gunshot echo in the pool area?

[A shrug.] Beats me. I've never actually seen one of those in action other than in the movies and games on this ship. Are they normally really loud?

[chiseler]

I don't really know either. I've never really had a lot of experience with them. [When you come from a world where swords and things are the default weapon...] Might be a question for somebody else who knows more about them.

Didn't our last murder also have a gun? I'm starting to think there's a bias here.

[chiseler]

Machias's gun doesn't work like normal guns from what I understand, but you're right. Guess we should look for who else has a gun on this ship. We can pinpoint our next suspects.

Sounds like a good plan to me. I'm sick of people judging me just because I have no idea how a gun works anyway. The next killer better be considerate enough to use something simple everyone can understand, like a knife. Or magic! Let them see how it feels like for once!

Whatever. If neither of us have any idea how loud it'd be, maybe we should just go down to the pool and shoot the gun to see.

Unless you have a silencer, a gunshot sounds really similar to a firework. I'm pretty sure we'd have heard it.

So is there any way to check if the gun found at the scene has a silencer then?

Is there a way we can check if there was water in her lungs? [ Who's gonna cut up the body. ]

[chiseler]

...wanna go find out? [Will there ever be a week they don't desecrate a corpse, we just don't know.]
