WEEK FIVE - Investigation
| the pygmalion. . . ONLINE ![]() CAPTAIN'S LOG: WEEK (5) |
friday (?) survivors ![]() Friday comes, and with it, the return of alarms for all the late-risers out there; those up before 9:00 AM will have an alarm-free morning. This one thankfully is a pretty gentle duet, the soft keys jangling you awake. It's not as invasive as some of the previous alarms, as once it ends, it just ends. It doesn't keep playing until you leave your room. If you check your datapad again, however, it will play the song again. It seems it's beckoning you somewhere, somehow, and you feel drawn to explore the ship, however anxious you may be. Tentatively, you leave your safe haven. taken list profiles setting rulebook ENTER COMMAND_ |

No shoe prints, just a patch of blood. There's some water around it as well, but the blood's darker here than it is in the pool.]

[ Machias is hauling himself out of the pool and much like Jason he's utterly drenched and looks like bloody murder. And his uniform? Is once again ruined. While he's at it, he's going over to Jason first and offering some help with the body before examining the gun. He's old enough to poke bodies. Unless Jason wants to go for a dip with the victim, but holding onto them like that in the pool can't possibly be comfortable. ]
... Let's help her out of there. [ There's a quiet, serious look at the victim for a brief moment. Then he offers a hand to help them out. ] If she's been shot, we should confirm that was the gun used too. There should be empty casing present if so.

The body's pretty cold, but I've got no idea if it's from taking a dip in the pool of it's because she's been dead for a while. Obfuscating the time of death might be the reason they sunk her. Or, it could be something else.
[No way to tell at this point. Assuming they've successfully set the body down somewhere, he's going to want to quickly check for any additional injuries on Carta.]
Unless the killer picked it up or kicked it into the pool. [But if this is the murder weapon, there should be some evidence that it was discharged...] Carta Issue's profile listed a handgun as her item. Even if it's not the murder weapon, this might be it.

Is there any way to check if it's hers?

It's more of a puddle than a splatter, though the water isn't helping much in that regard. Still, Adrien won't see anything indicative of splatter marks - it looks like the blood's collected mostly in one place. There's quite a bit of of water around the blood and the edge of the pool, certainly enough to possibly have been caused by splashing in.]

[ He's going to check right now and he's going to do it carefully, which means keeping it pointed in a safe area. First, let's examine the gun's exterior for anything notable, such as who made it. Even Reinford made orbal guns have their own means of indicating their brand. This one might (or might not) be gunpowder based, but supposedly it should be no different either way. Supposedly.
Next, let's check for the safety. Is it on or off? After that, let's remove the magazine and pull back the slide. Is the magazine still full or does it show signs of being used? If so, any shell casing popping out when pulling back the slide? ]

Two ways, actually. But only if one of you know how to perform a séance.
[Jason, somebody just died. Don't be an asshole??
But now that the corpse is gone and he trusts Machias can do a pretty thorough inspection of that gun, it's time to see if there's any other evidence around here. Are there any casings in the water? Or if he takes a look around the shed, will there be anything missing?]

[it's said with all the hesitation of someone trying really hard not to consider the logistics of this on a... real human being... aaand since Adrien is pretty useless here and he can't deal with staring at this blood much longer after all that he's going to do a tour around the pool since it's OLYMPIC SIZED so there might be something around or far away that isn't immediately obvious?? though ALSO:]
You're awful, Jason.
[SHE LITERALLY JUST DIED YOU PEOPLE??? it sounds more like a mild admonition tho since he didn't... know her... and he's more annoyed at the murderer UGH STOP KILLING]

There's a shell casing at the bottom of the pool near where the gun was found. Nothing's missing from the tool shed aside from the pool net, which is still floating in the middle of the pool. There doesn't seem to be anything else off around the pool.]

[ Machias is just giving the most judging, disbelieving look at you, Jason. Okay, so he can't tell anything else besides the fact it's definitely been fired. Good to know! ]
It'd depend on whether or not how close it was fired. If it's close range, it's not going to leave a puddle - it's going to leave a mess. It'd splatter everywhere, not leave a small puddle. [ With that, he's going to put the gun back the way it was. ] Anyway, this was definitely used, that much is evident. Find anything else?

[Ba dum tshh.
Since nothing is missing from the tool shed, he's going to crouch down next to the pool, near the spot where the gun was found. The bloody water probably makes it hard to see, so he's squinting a little as he carefully leans in closer.]
I think there's something else in the water. Something small. [The casing, maybe?] This would normally be the point where I'd suggest using the net, but—
[GESTURING AT THE POOR, POOR POOL NET, FLOATING ALL ALONE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE POOL.]
Some asshole decided to toss it all the way over there. Probably the same asshole who put a bullet between Carta Issue's eyes.
[His clothes are already ruined....... He'll take one for the team if nobody else does.]

Wait, did Arbok never come out? Let's ignore that and the fact he can seemingly hold his breath underwater. He's finally found something, but the only way to get it is absolutely disgusting...he'll pick it up with his tongue, roll it into his mouth (with blood) and then swim-slither his way out of the pool, dragging the net with the back end of his tail.
Look, he can be useful, he'll just spit it right onto the ground when he's out. Voila! A shell casing.]
Chaw! Chawbawk, Chaw!
[HE'S IN SO Much PAIN THAT WAS DISGUSTING]

Hey, no, don't-- [um] You did a good job, Arbok, but you shouldn't have put that in your mouth. [... is this how he should talk to a giant snake. fuck if he knows it waVES AT HIM?? so??] You could make yourself really sick.
[yes the tag i definitely didnt write and delete doesn't make him hypocritical at all. still, let's look at that casing. is there anything immediately obvious about it he can find without picking it up because he's too busy comforting a giant snake???]
