Does your supervillains rely a lot on pop culture or something?

[She isn't sure if that's cool or if that's awful]

Not... most of them. I did fight someone calling himself "Gamer". Their powers tend to depend on really specific circumstances, so someone getting angry at memes and becoming "Le Memer" isn't that out there. [and. with a sigh] At least it wouldn't be pigeons.

Pigeons? Did someone you know get turned into a villain with a pigeon theme? Your adventures are seriously odd, Adrien!

[And that's precisely why Shelley loves to hear about it]

[laughs a bit because he might complain but he genuinely enjoys how odd they are, so.] Yep. He went by Monsieur Pigeon. That was... surprisingly tough. Didn't help that I'm allergic to feathers.

How do you and Marinette defeat them, anyway? Classic kicks and punches or is there something else in play here?

We find the object the akuma nestled itself in, wrestle it away from the victim so we can break it, and Ladybug purifies the akuma. [that's a whole lot of weird nonsense words at once, adrien... he shrugs] Usually fighting is involved, but we've got both our weapons, so it's not a lot of kicking and punching on our parts.

You two have weapons? Wait, let me see...

[Shelley tries to remember Adrien's profile. That must give a hint]

Either you use the powers of fencing, or you weaponize the Chinese language. What a talented kid!

[Nah, she knows it's likely to be fencing. Since when do cats use swords, either way?]

Nope. [a beat] Well, I guess I sort of use techniques from fencing class sometimes? It doesn't translate all that well, since it's not a sabre, it's a staff.

[she wasn't far off trying to remember his profile, though: staff-wielding is in there]

A staff...how does one even fight with a staff? It's like this big stick. Can you even throw spells with it?

[Somehow she seems genuinely confused with this]

I'm a superhero, not a wizard. [he's frowning because?? why is that so hard to follow??] A lot of people use staffs, it's not that hard? You just... hit people with it.

Somehow it's hard to picture you in your strange cat costume doing acrobatics and hitting people with a staff.

And yet that's exactly what I did nearly every day before coming here. Shows what you know.

What weapon does Marinette use?

She's got a yoyo.

[...he sees nothing weird with that]

[A yoyo. Really? Really, really, really?]

...somehow that seems fitting for her. I don't know why, but I do can see her running around swinging a yoyo.

But you can't see me swinging a staff? Seriously?

[shelley?? rude???]

Ladybugs are wacky and cheerful. A yoyo fits them! Cats are majestic and tend to glare at people at random. Staves aren't the first weapon one would think for a cat superhero.

[No points for guessing that yes, claws are the first weapon to come to mind]

It'd be as if Batman got a hammer as a weapon, it just feels kind of weird to think about it.

Wacky and cheerful, huh... [he'd never describe Ladybug as wacky, but maybe he would Marinette? It's a weird thought to reconcile.] Well, I'll take the majestic thing as a compliment. Thanks.

[But you're not majestic at all, Adrien. Still, Shelley won't burst your bubble]

You know, talking with you makes me wonder what animal would fit me for a superhero theme. Any ideas about that?

...Not... really.

[he wouldn't have picked a cat for himself if he'd had the choice, but he's willing to give it a shot:]

Maybe some kind of dog?

A dog? That...may be good. I like dogs. Why a dog, by the way?

I have the feeling way too many people back at where I used to live at would agree with you. That's just how I am!

I think I can live with that. [he laughs a bit] But it's not a bad thing. I think it's great.

[She looks genuinely flattered by that]

You're a pretty nice kid, Adrien. It's terrible you're trapped with the rest of us up here, but despite that...I'm glad you're around.
