[Marinette......

But really, it's pretty noticeable from the get-go, but he's being generous and letting her try. It appears he has a timeline set out and the notes she finds are on the Trojan War, arrows and lines drawn in comparisons, some words misspelled and names of other people Marinette won't recognize such as "Clarisse" and "Silena." There's also a set of notes and a drawing of what looks like the Trojan Horse and the question "Is it possible for a repeat?" and the word "vents" next to it.

Of course, she doesn't get too far before he's hovering over her to see which one she's reading.]

You could just ask, you know. [But he actually can appreciate the fact she's nosy. He's pretty nosy himself.]
missmaladroite: (Since you came along)

[Listen!!! Listen!!]

[She's Very Subtle and no one will ever know!!!]

[She freezes in the middle of reading one of the notes, brow furrowed, and then gives him a bit cheesy grin when caught]

Oh--- I thought you were leaving a trail.

[NAILED IT]
chiseler: (nice work you did)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-05 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh my god why is this happening. He's settled on giving her a briefly baffled look before his grin turns a little lopsided, more mischievous and amused than actually annoyed. The notes aren't exactly personal and that helps greatly.]

Oh yeah? And what would you have picked up from the trail I was leaving? [Eh whatever let's call her on it.]
missmaladroite: (you sexy thing)

[personal profile] missmaladroite 2016-07-06 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
[not much, honestly. There are some things she can pick up on, but as far as she knows from her school education, none of those names have anything to do with the Trojan War or anything.]

That.... you're really into Greek history?

[N a i l e d i t]
chiseler: (man he never had a chance)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-06 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
You're not wrong. [And she's really not. He likes to know what happened in the past and he nods slowly to himself.] Ever heard the phrase "history repeats itself?" That's what I'm studying up on this time.
missmaladroite: (I needed you so badly?)

[personal profile] missmaladroite 2016-07-06 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Well, yes, of course.... but why would Greek history repeat itself in this situation...?

[she's still stuck in that awkward frozen pose.... how long is she going to keep this up?]
chiseler: (you're getting better all the time)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-06 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
[Know what he's going to do? He's going to reach over...and gently pluck the paper out of her hand just to kind of point out that she sure is frozen and it's funny to him.]

It's not just Greek history, though the Trojan War left enough of an impact on people that it's been a huge mark on history ever since then. It's not a repeat of the exact same actions, but definitely some of the ideas.
missmaladroite: (How did you knooooowww)

1/2

[personal profile] missmaladroite 2016-07-06 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
[she immediately jumps and straightens out while he does so]

-Gack!
missmaladroite: (Angel?)

[personal profile] missmaladroite 2016-07-06 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
[ahem]

[BE COMPOSED]

What's so important about the Trojan War?
chiseler: (lord of the flies)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-06 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
[The downside is that Luke is also just bullshitting his way through, but he's pretty good at making shit up by now.]

It's more the events of the war itself and the events leading up to the actual Trojan War that're important. Even if people don't think it's real now, people still remember it and talk about it don't they? All wars begin because one side takes something from another, or wants to take something back. [A pause.] Besides, that war in particular has a lot of highlights of sneak attacks and stealthy strategy.

[...so it's not that important as a whole but it's important to him.]
missmaladroite: (Now you're lying next to meee)

[personal profile] missmaladroite 2016-07-06 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
[or maybe Luke is just a nerd who's way into mythology. Marinette's dealt with a guy like that before!! As long as Papillon isn't around to akumatize him over some crackpot theory of reviving a Greek goddess, it's all good]

I'm not sure how that applies to this situation, unless you mean to say we're at war with the people behind the game...?
chiseler: (another clever word)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-06 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
[There's a hum of agreement.]

Something like that. We're at war with the people behind the game, and we're already starting to see that there are people among us who'll turn on us immediately if given the chance, not to mention the fact that there's something else out there we don't know about yet. It's hiding somewhere.
missmaladroite: (everything I prayed for?)

[personal profile] missmaladroite 2016-07-13 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I can see the logic behind it.... [though she is kind of leaning towards the nerd thing] but I'm not sure it really applies in this situation. We're being coerced to kill each other as some kind of experiment, no?
chiseler: (breaking in a sweat)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-13 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
That depends on if you want to believe we're actually being played here. If we're being used as an experiment, then who's the control variable in this situation? And anyway, I thought experiments could always be stopped. [They...haven't stopped this yet, have they?]
missmaladroite: (Now you're lying close to me)

[personal profile] missmaladroite 2016-07-14 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
It can be stopped. [confidently!! Just because they haven't fought out how yet.] What else could it be? Do you really think someone just put here to watch us kill each other?
chiseler: (man I never had a chance)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-07-14 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
You'd be amazed what some people will do when they're bored, Marinette. It'd also explain why we've been dealing with an AI this whole time instead of a real person, not to mention why killers get extra items to help if they go after somebody the AI says is vulnerable.
missmaladroite: (I BELIEVE IN MIRACLESSSSS)

[personal profile] missmaladroite 2016-07-17 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
A real person wouldn't show themselves to us so easily... we'd obviously try to track them down.

But a bored person.. and a bored AI..... Computers don't really work like that, do they? There must be some reason for it... not just boredom.
