saturday TRIAL DAY ONE (34) survivors At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort. The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up. The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body. To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it. Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

I mean, sure, that's a hell of a way to go, but, uh, I was thinking something simpler. Just one shot, right between the eyes. Nice and quick.

[ He waves his hand vaguely, just sort of referring to a "somewhere," since he doesn't know. ]

Don't see why one more would be a problem. It's in the book.

If you try to kill Machias by publically executing him, I can guarantee you'll regret it.

[ Jack just laughs, and quite literally waves this off with a dismissive flip of his hand. ]

Yeaaaah, don't think I would, cupcake. But, you know? Points for threatening me, at least.

[ Jack's smile splits, because when people threaten him, he can't help but get excited at the prospect. Granted, Jack is absolutely insane, but there's a unique thrill here that has him tensing up like he's really tempted to see just how serious Arumat is. ]

Hah— No, no, no, I don't think you're really gettin' what I'm saying here. I'm not going to regret it, because you know what's great? Putting a bullet right in the face of someone that goddamn deserves it. You can be pissed about it if you want, but my enjoyment of that? You'll never make me regret it, princess.

{ Jack isn't the only one who gets heated or thrilled by conflicts— Arumat's just as ready to make good on his promise if need be. Not only does it show in the way he tenses up as well, but behind that anger glimmering in his eyes, would be a dormant, but very much existing excitement. }

He doesn't deserve it. You are assuming that he intended to kill someone in the first place, even though he isn't the culprit.

{ That said, Jack's insanity was starting to become ever the more clear to him. So, he's pretty sure now that he wouldn't be able to make the man any less excited or enjoyed at the prospect -- whether or not he chose to try to go through with it.

He'll just elect to glare at Jack, still, and even though he'll be paying close attention to the trial, keep an eye on him when he thinks it necessary. }

but really she could not be giving him a more intense glare if her gaze were made up of knives. ]

Don't talk to Mr. Jack like that. Leave him alone.

And I'm supposed to let him talk about Machias like that?

Machias is a suspect. People will talk about him like that. If he's innocent, then he'll be safe.

It's different to talk about publically executing him instead of voting him off, isn't it?

{ As much as he loathes to admit it, yes, Machias was a suspect but Jack's suggestion for public murder to include Machias as an additional unnecessary kill pissed him off. }

[ she shakes her head. she actually doesn't think machias a murderer, attempted or not, so she gets the worry, at least. ]

That's only if he's not innocent. Mr. Jack's theory suggests he might not be. If he's a threat to the ship, then... [ he should go. only then, though. ]

[jackhole]

[ okay but rhys can't let yuno be the only jack stan here so after jack's creepy shit and yuno being yuno, rhys is just going to throw a tablet at arumat's head. ]

Yeah, what she said. And, uh, what he said, I guess. Just shut up, no one likes you.

{ He'll catch the tablet and keep hold of it, though. }

No? No what? No that no one likes you? Because you're pretty unpleasant a person and have zero redeeming qualities from what I've seen. Or no, you won't shut up? Because just repeat what I said but apply it to your voice. Which is also terrible.

[ Jack is absolutely thrilled to have people coming to his defense, but for now, he doesn't say anything. Just sits here, looking like the smug asshole he is. ]
