WEEK 3 - TRIAL DAY TWO

the pygmalion. . .

ONLINE

CAPTAIN'S LOG:
WEEK (3)

saturday TRIAL DAY ONE

(34) survivors

At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort.

The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up.

The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body.

To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it.

Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

[ what is dave's life that he usually agrees with handsome jack ]

Which, lbr, who pays attention to the memos usually. So I think it's safe to assume the bandages all over Allen were def an attempt to save him.

[ that he is clearly an intelligent young man!!! duh!!! ]

Definitely my main theory here. Because, hell, why would you bother otherwise? Even that idea of using it to cover up the bloodstains is kinda stupid when compared to this one. They weren't exactly pressed for time here.
parodeity: feastings @ tumblr (GRUMBLE 🎧 ugh plz no)

[personal profile] parodeity 2016-06-26 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, like. And the person who would most want to save his life is presumably Lavi? Idk the thing that currently makes the most sense is Lavi or Machias gunning for the other vulnerable, Allen steppin' the fuck in and gettin' himself murdered, and Lavi flippin' out and knockin' Machias out and then tryin' to save Allen? Is that not a thing that sounds reasonable, here. It would really just be a matter of which of them did the killin' blow for Allen, no?

Jason would have known where the fuck the med supplies were, he's obviously fuckin' out, Shelley doesn't match up with any of the evidence we have, and I think Arumat is in the same boat as Shelley in that we just see no reason for it to be him?

So.

Machias or Lavi are our options, we just need to determine which of them hit betray first.
bloodbiter: (it's like he's mesmerized by this)

[personal profile] bloodbiter 2016-06-26 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
If Lavi stopped Machias after he tried to kill Allen with the shotgun, how would Machias have gotten the shovel and hit Allen with it?
parodeity: (NO 🎧 that sounds dumb)

[personal profile] parodeity 2016-06-26 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
...Okay on second thought maybe what we need to do first is work out a murder timeline order of events. Jesus.
refactor: (I want to "netflix and potatoes")

[personal profile] refactor 2016-06-26 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Jack smiles, since that's the conclusion he's come to as well. Sorry you keep agreeing with Jack, Dave?? ]

Exactly. I mean, hell, think about it— We've got paranoia running rampant, and who here is going to feel the most paranoid? Definitely going to be the vulnerable ones, since it's their asses the most on the line here.

[ He shrugs ]

So I think you're right, kiddo. We just have to pick the right one. But I will say, at the very least? I'm feelin' like Lavi was there, because the two of 'em know each other, right? So he's the most likely to bandage the kid up. And in that case, if it was Machias, it makes no sense for him to have not already spilled the beans.
parodeity: (LORD 🎧 what a day)

[personal profile] parodeity 2016-06-26 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[ ugh why this why him JACK APPROVING OF DAVE IN ANY WAY IS PROBABLY BAD NEWS TOO??? ]

Yeah. At least Machias has the reason of being concussed as fuck for not explaining shit, too.
refactor: (but his lunacy is authentic)

[personal profile] refactor 2016-06-26 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[ it's fine!!! totally fine!? ]

So he says, at least. Not sayin' that I think that's necessarily bullshit, but it is something that's pretty damn easy to lie about.
parodeity: (WHOA 🎧 hold up)

[personal profile] parodeity 2016-06-26 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm at least willin' to give him some leeway there since the Doc confirmed his being concussed, didn't he?
refactor: (masters of their balls)

[personal profile] refactor 2016-06-26 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but that doesn't mean you conveniently forget an important period of time.

[ unless you're in a murdergame, so. probably. jack is just naturally suspicious ]

That's the problem. You can't predict it, so it could be true, but he could also be full of crap and have a pretty convenient cover for lying, y'see?
parodeity: feastings @ tumblr (LOOKING 🎧 shades off)

[personal profile] parodeity 2016-06-26 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Not sayin' you're wrong, pretty much guaranteed someone is lying their ass off here because murderer. I'm def not puttin' in a real vote yet. But we do at least know the footprints are prob's Machias's? Jesus we need to nail down the order of events or we're going to have to wing it again like last time. Do we really wanna remix being complete failures.
refactor: (sounds aboot right)

[personal profile] refactor 2016-06-26 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Prrrrobably, yeah. I mean, could just shoot both of them in the face, but that might be overkill.

[ "might" ]

So, what, we get to drawing pictures and nice diagrams? I can draw a Gantt chart that'll make your head spin, kiddo.
parodeity: (HEH 🎧 sure thing)

[personal profile] parodeity 2016-06-26 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Idk, my artistic expectations are pretty high, man. But if you want to be our official Gantt chart drawer to see if you're up to snuff, by all means. You'd def raise your overall rankin'.
refactor: (well executed shenanigans)

[personal profile] refactor 2016-06-26 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[ That gets him to laugh, and he waves a hand ]

Wait, rankings overall now too? Damn. I really gotta step it up if I want to make it to number one, in that case.

[ is he joking... a mystery ]
parodeity: feastings @ tumblr (LAUGH 🎧 shades off grin)

[personal profile] parodeity 2016-06-26 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Red's my favorite color, feel free to abuse it in any hypothetical chart you make to shoot for the stars known as number one on dave strider's coolness chart.

[personal profile] booklore 2016-06-26 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's what a few of you are saying so I should say it clearly:

I wasn't there. I know Allen and I are friends but that doesn't mean we're attached at the hip.
refactor: (the dadliest joke I ever heard)

[personal profile] refactor 2016-06-26 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, kiddo, just don't believe that. Could be wrong, but I'm also pretty sure I'm not. 'Cause, y'see, the bandages thing? That's weird. If the kid couldn't do that himself, then someone else had to. All things considered, that part points solely to you. And if you were innocent... Well, hell, you would have told us from the start that you were there. That's how I see it.
booklore: reacting, ‾-‾, i dont know how to describe this (♪ but down to earth)

[personal profile] booklore 2016-06-26 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
That's only if I were there. I wasn't, you're assuming I was because were bandages found and because Allen was the victim.

[ Sigh. ] Besides, the bandages don't make sense if I was involved either. Isn't that really obvious?

Nope.

[ He crosses his arms, but nods as if he's asking for Lavi to continue. ]

So, go ahead. Give me your explanation, since I'm real curious to hear how you think this went down.
booklore: staring, thinking, hand/fingers curled at chin (♪ once you're mine)

[personal profile] booklore 2016-06-26 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Making me explain is pretty cruel, y'know? This isn't something I want to think about. [ Jack probably don't curr though. ]

Okay, let's say I was at the scene and bandaged Allen. I would have to be stupid to leave the bandages wrapped around him after killing him. You guys would immediately think to tie me to the scene, exactly the way you're doing now. If I were there, it would make more sense to take the bandages and try to hide them somewhere away from Allen. Or burn them, since we already know our culprit isn't above destroying evidence.
parodeity: (LORD 🎧 what a day)

[personal profile] parodeity 2016-06-26 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but you kept going on about how the dude would like, regenerate or whatever. You could have left him in hiding to be "safe" and fully intended to drug-kill Machias? Like, it's not as out there as it could be.
booklore: "what am i even looking at right now" (♪ 'cause i'm coming atcha)

[personal profile] booklore 2016-06-26 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh. I think there are safer places to leave someone if you want them to recuperate. What kind of heartless person do you take me for?
refactor: (I want to "netflix and potatoes")

[ Jack laughs first and shakes his head ]

Listen, I know my charming personality can imply otherwise, but honestly? You call it cruel if you want. I call it doing what's necessary, since dancing around the truth here isn't gonna do us any good.

[ But, that aside, he does listen pretty seriously, though his gaze is sharp as he listens. Even so, he smiles once he's done. ]

I mean, yeah, it is stupid. But that's being sentimental for ya. Because, listen, I don't know hardly anything about either of you, but just watching you being worried for the kid yesterday? Could've just been sentiment. You have to be a pretty cold-hearted guy to spend the time to bandage someone up because you're hoping to save them, then to take them off once you realize it wouldn't work. Or even hiding and destroying the bandages, what would that really do? I mean, the kid's got his friggin' brain leaking out his ears. Bandages aren't gonna hide that anymore than getting rid of them would.
booklore: "what am i even looking at right now" (♪ 'cause i'm coming atcha)

[personal profile] booklore 2016-06-26 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
You say that, but this isn't the truth.

[ He raises an eyebrow. ]

Wait, wait, wait. One if you is saying I'm heartless enough to shove Allen under a bench then kill another person and the other one is saying I'm sentimental enough to leave him bandaged up like a mummy. Which one is it supposed to be?
