WEEK TWO - Trial

the pygmalion. . .

ONLINE

CAPTAIN'S LOG:
WEEK (2)

saturday TRIAL DAY ONE

(38) survivors

At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort.

The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up.

The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body.

To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it.

Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

[SHUT UP MEMELORDS

Jessie will check low as she makes her way to the ladder, stopping in front of it and turning around to face Jason once she reaches it.]

If you're expecting me to feel insulted, I only take that as a compliment. [And she starts in her usual haughty tone before crossing her arms. Time to ask him a question.] So? Who do you think did it? It wasn't Elizabeth.

[She'll probably go up the ladder after Jason's next comment unless people are storing body parts on the floor.]

[SOMEONE OUT THERE, GIVE HIM FUCKING STRENGTH.

That said, he's going to try and search for a light switch or some sort of light source before giving this area and Alita's room a proper look.]

No. Elizabeth doesn't strike me as the robot stabbing type either. [Not saying this because she's OK company or anything.......] But it does look like someone is trying to frame her, along with all the other innocent suspects. I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up finding evidence pointing to each one of them.

[Are there body parts on the floor, though??? Someone give them proper (or semi-proper) decent light.]

I don't think Fiona did it either, for the record. Just a woman's intui—

[nani the fuck

Obviously she's going to follow that object and get onto her hands and knees. Please. Arceus above, let her prove to Jason Todd she is Right and Awesome. She is grabbing something, she is grabbing it, unless it's Misty because Misty is disgusting.]

There's something here!

[GOOD LUCK.

But, yeah. Something definitely rolled away there. Jessie's got the crawling around covered it seems, so he's just going to watch. Like an asshole. Maybe give the room a cursory glance from his position while he's at it, since they have proper illumination now.]

I saw. Can you reach it?

Someone's been in here!

[That's the conclusion she reaches as she gets to her feet, fully expecting herself to be holding the missing salve from the trial findings. Jason reported on that, didn't he? But if she's not, she's going to look at it anyways.]

This is exactly what I expected would happen! If you're going to dump evidence somewhere, you're going to do it where someone is least likely to walk in on it!

[Does this also confirm the existence of that item? She'll give a look to the ladder and back, but if she doesn't see anything she'll definitely be following Jason's movements.]

[Well, shit. If that is indeed the missing jar of salve, then it's definitely more confirmation. Someone cashed in on that universal room access card. There's no way around it at this point.

He glances at Jessie. Sighs. AND ONLY SLIGHTLY GRUDGINGLY:]

Good job.

[He genuinely means it........ Be proud........................

That said — he's walking towards that pile to see what it's about.]

You aren't so bad yourself, but you should've listened to me from the start. You can pretend to be disgusted by me all you want, but I'm trapped on this miserable ship, too.

[Hopefully Jason will be nice, but Jessie isn't going to bother waiting to see what he grabs.

Because Jessie is going to extend her hand fast and snatch up the small rectangular object as fast as she can. If it is what she thinks it is, Jason won't have to worry about her being shy about it. She's not going to pocket it or anything.

But, uh, if it is what she thinks it is? It's probably a good thing she got a partner.]

What do we have here?

[ROLLS HIS EYES SO HARD THEY FALL OFF OR SOMETHING okay no they don't fall off. But. Close.]

Don't push it. I'm not having a Hallmark moment with you.

[That's as nice as he's going to get. At least he's not insulting her? Just being a cagey asshole like always.

That said, he's scowling when Jessie snatches up the rectangular object, but he doesn't say anything about it. Just eyes it with curious interest, before picking up the bloody "fabric". Is this what he thinks it is...?]

Don't be stupid! I'm not looking for a greeting card moment, Josh! I'm just reminding you that I'm here and I'm going to investigate, so you better get used to it! Someone has to find enough evidence to clear Elizabeth's name.

[And she manages to sound a little worried when she says Elizabeth's name. Ugh. She needs to protect that girl, for serious.

She plays with the card in her hand for a moment before dropping it to her side. Look, she's not going to pocket it.]

We'll have to try this one on the way back. No objections!

[It's time to move onto the last object. The gloves. Jessie is wearing gloves herself, so she doesn't care so much about picking them up. This is probably another easy answer. Roxy Lalonde's report mentioned gloves, didn't it?]

[Thought so.]

For the love of— Would you shut up? I'm just as invested as finding the truth as you are. [Also:] And my name isn't "Josh".

[He's wearing gloves, so examining the bloodied bandages doesn't bother him at all. He's just going to carefully tuck them away to take them back to the conference room, all while keeping an eye on the card in Jessie's hand. At least she isn't pocketing it.]

Why would I object to that? We need to confirm it's the real deal and not a dupe.

[Sheesh!!!

He'll also take the gloves with him since they're ~evidence~. Is there any way to tell the size of the hand that wore them from how stretched they are...? If not, he's going to keep looking around the room in case there's anything else of interest.]
