WEEK 13 - I can't lie to you about your chances, but you have my sympathies.
the pygmalion. . . ONLINE ![]() CAPTAIN'S LOG: WEEK (13) |
sunday (41) survivors ![]() Something in the air breaks, shattering from deep within space itself - and to accompany that sensation is a psychic scream. The ship shakes, coming to a screeching halt as a bright light explodes outside it. It pulses, not unlike a heartbeat, that crawls and crawls along at a slow, grueling pace. The last illusion has been broken, the last mental tie severed and crushed. You've done well up until now, and you can reap the benefits of Her labor; the dead walk among you, after all, and as Her scream rings out, a burst of energy shoots through the residents of the Pygmalion. It's clearly a desperate bid, but it doesn't root itself in place. Instead, you feel lighter than ever - Her attempt to claim you has only unraveled the string that kept you in place. The 40% limit has been lifted, and you are at full capacity. The chains have been broken. Go freely, heroes. taken list profiles private conversations setting rulebook ENTER COMMAND_ |

but he's also thinking pretty hard about his conversation with jason. the last time jason saw him -- he was still robin? there are years between then and now, even more so for bruce so... he's not entirely sure what to expect here. the worry he has for him still eats at his gut more than anything else though so hopefully, jason can at least talk to him for a moment. face to face and with honesty.
he also highly doubts it'll happen like that.
but if anyone wants to talk to the brooding wall of sweet dad muscle, he's right here for the picking, arms crossed and brooding frown on his face while his eyes search the crowd for jason. why is his family so, like, complicated. wtf. ]

Alas, he does end up spotting one out of two of the Pygmalion's poorly chosen captains among the crowd. Jason's holding himself up passably well, really, hands shoved into his pockets to casually disguise the fact that he's absolutely sore everywhere. He has a proper eyepatch, though, which is good? Probably. Maybe. There is definitely something up with his right shoulder from the way he moves it, however, so. Uh. Good luck looking into that.
... He will actually need every bit of luck he needs, considering that Jason appears to already be talking to someone. A young lady, in fact. Elizabeth, if he would recognize her. They're standing far too close to each other, hands occasionally bumping together (but not quite moving away), and — yeah. Jason looks pretty comfortable with this. Go forth and be a judgmental white dad, Bruce.]

They didn't get a sappy reunion when nightmare cradles were involved so this was as far as they got. Elizabeth had made it out okay and is pretty much glued to Jason after she met up with Booker ( who VAGUE HAND GESTURES??? is somewhere ). The girl was laughing every so often, a tired sore laugh but it was there.
There is definitely a brief handhold every so often. ]
- and that music? You picked a vulgar selection!
[ But please call her out that he found her sleeping in the parlour. ]

of course, then he realizes what jason's doing exactly and his pace slows to a stop and the smile drops off his face. ah, it's the girl. the one who idolized jason to a fault, who was ready to argue with him about a man who she doesn't even know. it makes sense now, he thinks. jason was still filled with hate for bruce, the same hate that brought him back to gotham as red hood with the sole purpose of killing bruce if he didn't fulfill his demands. in bruce's eyes, they've moved past that -- they're back to being family, no matter how terse. his door is always open for jason and jason knows this.
right now, jason doesn't. right now, jason's looking for fulfillment wherever he can get it to fill up that part of him that was so empty, so angry after he came back. bruce realizes then that nothing he says will change this, not right now -- the course of events still have to play out on jason's end, bruce's interference won't ever help. it'll only make things worse. there's a voice in his head that sounds suspiciously like alfred telling him to let jason be. let him be happy.
he thinks it's foolish, of course, pursuing anything like that in a situation like this. he knows he has his own... hang ups, selina coming to mind immediately but it was different stakes there. there was an understanding about it and while he can't say those two don't understand the same, one conversation with elizabeth was enough for him to know that they're both way, way in over their heads about this. idealistic and childish, elizabeth seeing jason as a source of good and of heroism while jason was desperately craving for someone to see that in him in return. without the memories of what happens next -- jason will listen to elizabeth over bruce and any logic, any pleading bruce does, it'll fall on deaf ears and only destroy their relationship even more.
scenario after scenario plays through bruce's mind of how this conversation can go and each ends up the same -- bruce trying to explain himself, jason taking offense, and if his introduction with her is anything to go by, elizabeth siding with jason. there's no outcome here that gives jason back to bruce and while bruce will always put family above the rest, he knows right now -- jason has dismissed it. in jason's mind, he has no family and there's nothing bruce can say to change that. he still has to figure out that lesson himself.
so, bruce does the only thing he can do right now if he wants to salvage his relationship with jason at all. he turns. he heads back into the nuwa. there's really no point in doing anything else. ]
