WEEK 11 - TRIAL

the pygmalion. . .

ONLINE

CAPTAIN'S LOG:
WEEK (11)

saturday TRIAL DAY ONE

(13) survivors

At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort.

The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up.

The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body.

To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it.

Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

[ chugging that glass immediately. whatever the fuck they're drinking is going down like water now. maybe she's just a lightweight and is already drunk. ]

I had those things since week... four, maybe. I'm not sure. I kept making more and more. [ she's placing the glass down to fold her arms. ] I can get you some if you can get me into my room. Think we're gonna need them at this point, at least so we know where to go if someone's in danger.

...But it wouldn't have worked without you and Adam. If we're not dead in the morning and the stove's working, I'll make you guys breakfast.

[Nobody ever said he was a responsible parent. He listens to her and even when she puts the glass down he finishes draining his before he says anything.]

I wanna say "I can't believe you were prepared" but I never thought you were stupid. We've all been gearing up for this probably longer than we've realized. [But he eyes her carefully.] You really think I can get into your room?

[Curious. There's a short grin though.] He's good that way. People don't seem to notice that about him, but Adam's one of those people that's a good secret weapon. I couldn't do anything here without him anymore. [Adam Parrish is Good and Pure.] Don't remember if the stove's electric or not but I'm pretty sure we won't be dead tomorrow? Pancakes would be awesome. [There's a pause.] ...man, we need to come up with a new strategy for tomorrow when we're not-dead about how we're surviving for the next couple of days. Pancakes seems like a good start though.

You've got the lock breaking thing, right? Without the electronic aspect, it's just a door, but... Well, maybe we can pry it open either way. [ she laughs a little because. well, this is ridiculous. she doesn't answer when he says she's not stupid, though; mostly because she's stupid levels of prepared. ]

If it's electric, we need to figure out food. The stove's not electric, is it? [ with a frown, she's going to get something from the liquor cabinet. ] I guess non-perishables are all we got now... I'll owe you pancakes, if that's the case. The fact we had three pairs of hands throwing them into the orb at the same time probably helped. ...Definitely helped.
chiseler: (sets off an unsuspecting herd)

Well yeah... [There's a beat before he awkwardly scratches the back of his head.] We can try it. But I can only open one door a day. We've gotta keep that in mind. Besides we've destroyed enough doors today. What's one more this week?

[He rolls his eyes to the ceiling, trying to remember. He's also keeping an eye on her in the dark.] Everything in the fridge will probably be bad by morning anyway though. If we take a group we can probably go down to dry storage and see what we can pull from there, too.

[A beat.] I think I can speak for both of us when I say we're more than willing to throw more explosives any time something else needs to be destroyed. Makes you wonder how close the captain's watching us though.
bloodteller: (in the waves i've lost every trace of yo)

[personal profile] bloodteller 2016-08-22 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
Then the combination of me and you prying it open should be enough, right? [ it's only a suggestion, though. she'll try to drag dave along if.... necessary... lmao. ]

I think as long as we don't eat each other, we're fine. I'm actually a little more worried about showers and things of that nature. [ she's pulling out a bottle of honey wine and cherry juice now, and gestures in a way that's clearly asking if he wants one, too. ] We all probably stink now.

[ like. really. this is not going to be fun come tomorrow morning. ]

As for the captain, I don't really care. We did what we had to do. If she's watching, it doesn't matter. If she isn't, it still doesn't matter. We can't wait around for her, either, even though... I know that's not what you're saying. I don't want to wait on her...
chiseler: (what's worth forgiving?)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-08-22 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
We'll make it work. [He's taking it seriously though which is rather unfortunate but hey. Idle hands, etc etc. Let's not think about what happens when a bored demigod's on the loose.

He wrinkles his nose at the idea of cannibalism and that seems to be his thoughts on that. There's a nod in response to the unasked offer, but he's already making plans in his head.]

Oh I'm sure we're gross, but I mean...I lived on the streets for five years. I know a few things we can try. The pool probably isn't drained first of all. I don't normally recommend sharing the same bath water with twelve other people, but if it's what we've got it's what we've got. As for the captain...I know. We've had a few too many close calls. We need to start thinking for ourselves now that we actually know what the real threat is. I wish there was an easier way to find more of the captain's log or something that would help us.

[ there's a pause as she raises her glass of mead and cherry juice to her lips, and then yuno softly speaks up. ]

I'm not a stranger to public baths, it's still common in Japan. But... the lighting might be kind of uncomfortable?

[ the sensuous purple lighting THIS IS SOMEHOW A BIG CONCERN FOR HER? ]
chiseler: (you're getting better all the time)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-08-22 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[He blinks in surprise, finding himself laughing at the idea that that is the most troublesome part.]

Never been to Japan, but good to know. The lighting might need to be adjusted anyway depending on what light sources we can even pull from. Adrien mentioned torches a while ago. I don't see why we can't mount some of those on the wall instead.
bloodteller: (where the light shivers offshore)

[personal profile] bloodteller 2016-08-22 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
You think there's any flashlights around? [ yuno raises her glass in a way that's clearly indicating that she's offering to mix him one, too. mead's probably normal for him, right? ]

Torches would be good. We'd just need to keep them from burning down entirely, right...? I'm not really familiar with them. I'm more of a candles kind of girl, you know?
chiseler: (do you think)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-08-22 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Could also be down in the dry storage. It's not a bad idea to take a field trip in the morning, maybe. We'll take a group or something to clear everything out. The door should still be open and if not we'll break it down, too. [He tilts his head, squinting before he nods again. Mixing is fine. He doesn't even know what he's putting in his mouth at this point but maybe death by alcohol poisoning would be okay.]

If we're looking for something to encase a flame we can maybe make lanterns. I wish we had enough materials and I could make…stuff. [That's ominous, thanks Luke.] The only problem with candles is they'll burn out. Plus hot wax kinda hurts.
